This show started out at Reeves Studios for testing in the spring of 1969, before moving to Unitel Theatre on 81st Broadway St. Ralph Curtis started as the first sound effects artist, until retirement in late 1969. Since Episode 0074, Dick Maitland was hired using some custom-created foley sound effects, as well as several 78rpm/33rpm records, largely from Major Records/Valentino, Elektra Records, EMI, Standard Radio Transcriptions and Audio Fidelity. Effects were done on the floor of the studio, then in the balcony of the theatre, later moving to a quiet room in the rear. Traffic loops ran on Ampex Tape machines, later converting to cartridges. Over the years, Dick began amassing every library available and expanding the playback systems for the show.
