Info
  • First recorded: 1959
  • Creator: Unknown
  • Owner: Hanna-Barbera (1959-2001), Sound Ideas (1993-present)
  • Origin: United States
  • Year debut: September 10, 1959
  • First heard: "Choo-Choo Chumps" (an episode of "The Quick Draw McGraw Show")
  • Area used: Worldwide

It made it's debut in the "Choo-Choo Chumps" (an episode of The Quick Draw McGraw Show) and was used when a character is running. It's also a common running sound effect used in many cartoons (like The Loud House, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, Pink Panther and Pals, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rocko's Modern Life, The Wiggles, Lalaloopsy, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, The Ghost and Molly McGee, Eena Meena Deeka, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and many other tv shows), along with other running sound effects RUN, CARTOON - TEMPLE BLOCK GALLOP, SHORT. It would make that it's the way to other studios like Disney, Hanna-Barbera, Warner Bros., Nickelodeon, Splash Entertainment and Universal Studios and it's still used in media today.

It should be noted that Ruby-Spears Enterprises and Warner Bros. Animation (in the Seven Arts years) used a rising speed ramp variation of this sound effect that would end at a very high speed, similar to RUN, CARTOON - TEMPLE BLOCK RUN UP 01 but with TEMPLE BLOCK RIOT in place of TEMPLE BLOCK GALLOP. This was never used in any actual Hanna-Barbera productions.

The temple blocks used in this sound effect are HIT, CARTOON - COCONUT HIT 01 and 02.
