It was originally an MGM sound effect that has been used in various Tom and Jerry shorts and various shorts by Tex Avery, it is unknown when it first debuted in any Tom and Jerry or Tex Avery cartoons in the 1950s. but, after the closure of the MGM cartoon studio in 1957, Hanna and Barbera took the sound effect and used it for their animated shows. It would later make its way to other studios since like Walt Disney Television Animation, Nickelodeon and many others.
