On June 28, 2025, at approximately 1:04 p.m. ET (6:00 UTC), 2018 SR[1], a meteorite entered Roblox's atmosphere over the Bloxington Ocean and impacted land in Bloxburg, Bloxburg Valley, United States of Robloxia. It is the most recent event to involved an asteroid, occurring after the La Queue Parallèle-Roblox Collision event in 2021, but became the first single asteroid to strike the planet in over a million years and in the modern era.

Traveling at 29–31 kilometers per second (18.01–19.2 miles per hour), which was 10–20 times the speed of sound and faster than a typical asteroid (17 kilometers per second), the object was initially discovered days before, on June 17, when scientist Cody Barrett detected an asteroid called 2018 SR[2]; later research revealed that the asteroid was on a collision course with the planet. The asteroid contains samples of vast lines of lava across it, presumably made out of iron and spherical, which are thought to have originated from the Robloxian Meteorite Belt, though the exact origins vary.

In response to the unanticipated discovery, the United States took immediate action and began widespread evacuations, including the formation of Operation Bloxburg Asteroid, led by Mayor Dr. Lina Rivers, particularly in Bloxburg Valley and neighboring states, resulting in one of the largest evacuations in history. United States of Robloxia President Mason "Scorpio" Smith's illness prompted Vice President Matthew Smith to declare a state of emergency in the Bloxburg Valley area. The evacuations also forced the closure of several sites in the states. As a result, several states issued orders for additional housing in various counties, which received extensive international media coverage. Upon impact, the asteroid caused a massive explosion that caused earthquakes and aftershocks, followed by intense heat across the country.

In the months that followed, the impact's effects caused the deaths of around 10,000 deaths with over 40,000 injuries, though the exact number varied. The United Roblox Countries ordered resources toward a plan nicknamed Operation Clean-Up, which included states that had been severely affected. According to studies, the impact's effects lasted at least five to ten years and have been depicted in popular culture. Criticism was directed at how the evacuations were handled; supporters claimed that it was effective in alerting 50 million citizens in the state, while opponents claimed that the government was unable to properly organize and overdid the evacuation process, which resulted in underfunding of areas that actually needed it, leading to a gap being created in some regions of southern Bloxburg Valley. In the following days, many protests occurred, with Dr. Lina Rivers personally condemning the organization of the evacuation. The asteroid has also resulted in a widespread national economic downfall due to many major companies being headquartered in Bloxburg.

In the modern times, only a few asteroids had struck Roblox, which they are given the term of meteorite. Between 1870 and 2020, a estimated 50 to 100 million small-scale meteors had passed over Roblox, refers to as an asteroid.[3] with some coming close but being destroyed by the planet's atmosphere and the vastness of space, among other factors; some of them become a part of meteor showers, which is when the planet passes through a series of debris that was left from a comet or a much larger meteor. In 2021, an asteroid named 2007 RMB was discovered and predicted to strike Roblox within the next 30 years, but in subsequent years, it was expected to barely pass by the planet by the year 2037. RASA developed a new machine called the "Asteroid Detector" in early 2017 to detect asteroids and predict their movements and directions in order to prevent asteroids from colliding with Roblox; an updated version was released by the organization by late 2022. In response to the La Queue Parallèle-Roblox collision in late 2021, RASA planned to create a machine that would launch rockets and destroy incoming asteroids. By the time 2018 SR was on a collision course with the planet by early 2024, the machine had been completed and was scheduled to be hosted at the Bloxburg Observatory beginning that fall.

The first of the notable events occurred in 1872, when what was formerly thought to be an asteroid struck land in between Palm County; however, no deaths were immediately reported, and initially, 50 to 200 injuries were reported by multiple sources before the injuries were reduced to zero. The second impact event occurred in October 1935, when a series of meteors struck between the states of Roregon and Kionne Republic, making it both the most devastating natural event in history with over 40,000 deaths and becoming one of the most devastating events of the twentieth century. It was also the first time an asteroid had impacted parts of the United States. At that time, the third and most recent event occurred in December 2021, when an asteroid known as La Queue Parallèle collided with land near Storm Valley, causing significant damage but only two injuries.

Debates

The debates, which began after the 1935 meteor disasters, had been discussed with various scientists, members of the RASA organization, and members of the United States government about the likelihood of an asteroid impact increasing and how to prevent potential impacts, including the use of missiles to destroy asteroids, which had never been done before. The impact in 1935 prompted the National Emergency Preparedness Act of 1936 to come in force.

Origins and warning signs

Based on its then-expected entry speed of more than 29 kilometers per second, the asteroid, known as 2018 SR, is thought to have originated in outer space within the Blox System. The object is thought to have come from the Robloxian Meteorite Belt, a torus-shaped region between Kositrix and Marblox, with some sources attributing it to the Salois area. According to a June 23, 2025 study by several space scientists from RASA, who tracked down the path of the asteroid based on its direction, they discovered that the asteroid may have originated from a debris impacting the asteroid from Marblox, causing the object to move out of orbit. The asteroid was discovered to have formed more than two billion years ago, though it was previously thought to have formed over three billion years ago, and contained lava dating back to the time when Roblox was formed; scientist Mya Edwards stated that the asteroid was most likely debris from the remnants of the solar system's formation. It was also estimated that the asteroid has been in Roblox's path since at least 2013, with a low chance of colliding with it at the time.

By 2019, the asteroid was heading in the direction of Roblox. Because of the direction in which the object was moving, which half of the simulations predicted would result in the 2018 SR impacting the planet, RASA began to issue warnings and begin to use resources in the event to research more of the object, though the proportion of simulations in which it would strike Roblox would significantly decrease by the 2020s as technology advanced.

Characteristics

Naming

Prior to its famous discovery, RASA spotted the object years ago, in April 2018, as it began to move out of orbit from Marblox, and named it after Saturn's first letters and Roblox. According to a website that lists asteroids owned by RASA, the asteroid was originally given the temporary designation "SR18afn15", but it was later renamed only "SR18" and then "2018 SR" in January 2019.

Size and shape

The size of the 2018 SR was estimated to be between 2 and 5 km, but subsequent research confirmed that the exact size was around 1 km. Originally, various sources claimed that the asteroid was "big enough to destroy a city," citing the average size of a city as 500 to 1,000 square kilometers. From June 25 to July 10, RASA confirmed in various statements that the size ranged between 1 and 4 km, based on studies of asteroid pieces. The asteroid's shape is shown to be nearly spherical, which is unusual for an average asteroid because they have irregular shapes outside of dwarf planets, though 2018 SR was "nowhere near as close" to being spherical enough to be a dwarf planet. RASA stated that the asteroid's gravitational force was one of the reasons for its appearance.

2018 SR was discovered on June 17, 2025[2]. On that day, Cody Barrett, a scientist who was researching Roblox's atmosphere, visited the Bloxburg Observatory in Bloxburg Valley, United States, where at around 12:05 p.m., he discovered a fast-moving object flying at around 25 kilometers per second (55,923 mph; 899km/h) with a apparent magnitude of between 15–20. At that time, Barrett was researching the atmosphere for a secret project and had been planning to later use the observatory as a way to discover other planets in the solar system. Originally believing that the asteroid was a comet, after doing more research within twenty minutes, he noticed that the object was unusually close to Roblox's atmosphere and within the distance between Roblox and the Roblox Moon, and using calculations on his computer between the object and Roblox, it showed that the meteor was heading on an impact course with the planet, the first time in the modern era. Barrett reportedly panicked and contacted a group of other space scientists who were connected with the RASA organization. When determining the possible path of the asteroid before impact, they used computers to study the current speed and direction of the asteroid, based on models from telescopes, where it was confirmed that the asteroid was highly likely to strike near and in Bloxburg City, in the United States of Robloxia. After contacting the RASA about the discovery and submitting images of the object, the organization confirmed that the object was 2018 SR. The asteroid was given the temporary designation "SR25jsn17" by RASA.

Immediately following the confirmation, Interstellar-X was briefed by RASA and alerted "warnings" throughout the organization and ordered workers to research the meteor. Several meetings by Elon Crust were held shortly after, with one taking over three hours, in which RNN claimed that they were "desperate to find a way to destroy the asteroid" but found "no answer" to do so. At the same time, President Mason "Scorpio" Smith was attempted to be contacted, but was too sickened. Matthew Smith then attended a meeting with members of his cabinet, was briefed on the news and later on announced on social media that an "urgent" national address would take place on June 21, 2025.

Within one to two minutes[5] of vice president Matthew Smith's announcement about the asteroid, which he ordered citizens to evacuate, Bloxburg City confirmed that mass evacuations would begin statewide in a "very short time". Within between 30 minutes to a hour, all major highways, including Bloxburg Valley State Routes 10 and 1, were congested with traffic and some parts were blocked due to accidents. Excessive driving, some of which led into fatal crashes, was another major contributor to the evacuations delay. Bloxywood Freeway, Dominus Freeway, Bloxburg Valley State Route 405, Bloxburg Valley State Route 67 experienced similar issues. Because of the traffic problems, Smith stated that he was "trying to find a way to solve the issues" and instructed citizens to "remain calm and that the situation was under control." Sacramento, San Bernardo, and Claire counties were among the first to receive the evacuation order. By 12:00 p.m., cities such as Neo-Sacramento, Silverton City, El Central, and Riverside were under a major evacuation order, though half of their populations had already left by June 22. Santa Clarax County was thought to be the first to receive the evacuation order right before the president's address, but RNN confirmed that this was incorrect. Technology Valley and Pan Valley RVA confirmed that half of their populations had already relocated out of state.

On June 22, Matthew Smith had a one-hour call with recently-elected mayor Dr. Lina Rivers to discuss the evacuations, and the former stated on social media that "everything was going as planned"; Rivers' spokeswoman stated that Smith had asked her to evacuate the state and would send "large amounts" of resources in the aftermath. Robloxia Emergency Alert System was launched statewide within minutes of the president's address, which Smith described as "the most effective way of getting people to pack up and leave the state." However, various sources declared the alert a "partial success" because "while it was able to have citizens move out in a timely manner," it resulted in the start of mass panic throughout the United States of Robloxia and began trending on social media. As a result, the Bloxburg Fresh Food Supermarket in the historic downtown district was temporarily rebranded as "BYE Supermarket", which received backlash. Several agencies, including the RSCP Foundation, GFAH, FSB, and NAI, have begun clearing any sites within the anticipated ten-mile blast radius.

By June 22, over five thousand evacuees had gathered in Sacramento and San Juan. Interbloxes 666 and 7719 were originally closed before reopening with limited hours due to widespread traffic jams and in an attempt to move everyone away. Sources, including RNN, suggested that they stay open. By 1:00 p.m. by June 23, the final counties, which included Old Town Lake, Los Michis, and Buenos Lagos, were under evacuation orders. The delay was met by public backlash, including vice president Matthew Smith. As of June 27, 2025, over 50 million Robloxians were estimated to be covered by a mandatory evacuation order, the highest number for any state.[6] Blox International Airlines confirmed on June 24 that they would begin sending flights to Bloxburg Coeptus International Airport, which previously stated that they would be closing by the morning of June 28 and Buenos Lagos International Airport, in Bloxburg Valley to receive the remaining people who did not have transportation and take them to John F. Kenny International Airport in New Blockers City. On June 24, it was confirmed that the Bloxburg Max Security Prison would be closing, with all of its prisoners being relocated to another maximum security prison.

South Bloxifornia

On June 21, less than four hours after the start of the mass evacuations in Bloxburg Valley, South Bloxifornia announced that evacuations in Greendale, Highway Ride City, and Brickington would begin within minutes, with governor James Watterson's order to issue mandatory evacuation alerts through the Robloxia Emergency Alert System for the entirely of the state by 10:00 p.m. Watterson described them as "among of the biggest evacuations that he had to deal with". According to data from Robloxian Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (RASHTO), within hours, Bloxifornia State Highway 54, Interblox 45, Interblox 65, Interblox 97, and Ro-Route 76 experienced similar traffic jams, which were caused by those traveling from Bloxburg Valley. By the evening, over 400,000 to 700,000 vehicles were on various highways, with traffic jams lasting all night, resulting in people sleeping in and causing significant delays in the state's evacuations.

Watterson stated on June 22 that nearly half of the Highway Ride City population had evacuated the area, which was considered by many to be "shocking". Grampton and Velan Counties were the final counties ordered to evacuate by June 23, with RBI arriving the night before to remove the people and relocate them to another housing in North Bloxifornia. Later that day, vice president Matthew Smith contacted Watterson to "prepare for more evacuations" and stated that "all citizens of the state needed to move out before danger comes". Watterson confirmed the evacuation phases for half of the state on June 23. Using the same concept from Operation Bloxburg Asteroid, Phase 1 started that day with the evacuation of people from the southern part of the state, near Bloxburg Valley, while Phase 2 started that afternoon on June 24 with the relocation of different establishments and locations. During a one-hour phone conversation on June 24, Mason "Scorpio" Smith told Watterson to leave the state. In preparation for earthquakes in the event, another alert was made through the Robloxia Emergency Alert System on June 24.

North Bloxifornia

Tommy Laurie, as pictured here in 2018, initially announced waves of evacuations for North Bloxifornia starting on June 22.

North Bloxifornia governor Tommy Laurie announced on June 22 that the first waves of major evacuations in the state, including Symson Town, Aberdeen, Sawmill Town, Roregon Bloxifornia, and Larksville, would begin as early as 6:00 a.m. that day. Within hours of the news, the Robloxian Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials reported that 300,000 to 400,000 vehicles were on several major highways, including Bloxifornia State Highway 54, causing significant delays due to traffic jams and a fatal accident that killed five people.

On June 23, the North Bloxifornian National Transit Authority announced that the North Bloxifornia Rail Network would close all services beginning June 27, the first time in its history; the previous day, an estimated 200,000 robloxians were on trains to South Bloxifornia, which were reported to be "overcrowded". On June 26, President Mason "Scorpio" Smith announced on social media that the North Bloxifornia Branch would be closed for the first time in history, and he ordered employees to leave the state. In preparation for earthquakes, Laurie stated that "all citizens must prepare for intense shaking and falling debris" and issued an alert via the Robloxia Emergency Alert System. Laurie confirmed on June 25 that nearly half of the state's hospitals, including North Bloxifornia Public University Hospital, would close, leaving an estimated 50,000 people without healthcare, eliciting strong negative reactions from families and citizens and calling for him to resign from the office. Laurie responded the next day, revealing that the plan will not go into effect as planned, which was originally meant to start at around 12:00 p.m. on June 27. The same day at around 2:00 p.m., Laurie issued a second mandatory evacuation order statewide in an effort to move more citizens out of the state. The second wave of major evacuations began on June 26, and more than 50,000 people left the state the next day.

Roregon

Between the start of mass evacuations in South and North Bloxifornia, Roregon governor Paul Watts stated that a wave of major evacuations would occur throughout the state beginning on June 22.

Other states

On June 23, Matthew Smith declared a state of emergency in states near Bloxburg Valley, including Rovada, Brickland, and Bloxorado, where evacuations had already been ordered by their governors the day before even though no lawful evacuation order was issued by the Robloxian Emergency Management Agency. As of June 27, 2025, the following states had confirmed their evacuations: Bloxtana, North Dabloxa, South Dabloxa, Rossota, and Bloxadi; the last had previously stated that they were considering putting the entire state under mandatory evacuation order, which was later changed over time.

Closures and migration

Statewide schools were scheduled to close on June 27, a day before the asteroid, but were rescheduled for June 24. Several universities, including Bloxburg Valley Institute of Technology, confirmed that they would shut down and discontinue all programs on June 23. The Bloxburg Valley State University System closed all 23 campuses on the same day, causing students to leave the state unexpectedly. Buildings such as Lovely Lumber, Terminal Building, Bloxburg Gym, WikiHow Hotel, Bloxburg City Hall, and Robloxian Musical and Dramatic Academy all closed on June 23 and ordered all of their employees, including Jack Lumber, to leave the state. Bloxburg City MetroBus confirmed on June 24 that all buses would not be operating and that they were considering relocating to a new area.

On June 23, Blorida, Central Robloxia, and Rohio announced that they would provide temporary housing for residents of Bloxburg Valley; the idea came from vice president Matthew Smith. According to RNN and the New Blockers Times, over 20 million citizens had already relocated to a another state, with an estimated 25 million more "still in the moving process," primarily in Roregon and as far as Eastern Robloxia. The Bloxburg Valley Rail Transportation was confirmed by the Bloxburg Valley Department of Transportation that their last service would take place hours before impact on June 28, but it was pushed back to June 26. President Mason Smith revealed that all of Southern Bloxburg Valley and nearly half of Northern Bloxburg Valley had left the state. South Bloxifornia City Tram System announced on June 25 that services would shut down on June 27 and the following day on June 28 for the South Bloxifornia Metro. On June 27, the North Bloxifornia State National Park closed down.

Operation Bloxburg Asteroid

On June 22, 2025, Bloxburg mayor Dr. Lina Rivers announced on television that Operation Bloxburg Asteroid was "in effect," a plan where buildings are moved by large-scale vehicles designed to hold houses and other stores. In the following day leading up, citizens reported large vehicles coming in and being placed near the locations. Meanwhile, the mayor of Bloxburg placed posters to assure citizens that everything is under control and can talked if they want to learn the details of the disaster. Lovely Lumber shifted from producing lumber to producing things for buildings to be taken out the city with, the first in the group's history.

Shelters

Shelters were opened throughout the state beginning on June 23, as well as those in Mount Hiva, partially in response to the Boycott the Meteor movement. Bloxwaii confirmed the following day that shelters would open on June 27, beginning in the evening. Bloxington Island considered moving its entire population in a mandatory evacuation order due to potential flying debris, but officials later confirmed the plan to include shelters and temporary housing.

Events of June 28

Atmospheric entry

The event began at 12:58 p.m. (9:58 a.m.), about around two minutes before impact. According to RASA officials, the asteroid was seen over the Bloxington Ocean and passed through several states, including South Bloxtlina, Eastern Robloxia, Reorgia, Balabama, Bloxuisiana, Bloxarkansas, New Bloxico, Brickland, and some parts of Rovada. When the object entered the planet's atmosphere, it began to burn up and break into several pieces due to friction and ram pressure, albeit small, followed by intense heat. Several people claimed that there were few boats in the ocean at the time, and that they felt heat from the asteroid for a few seconds before cooling down. Because of the factors, it became an extremely bright object that left a white trail of smoke, according to RASA, and it was thought to be brighter than the sun. After reaching the United States of Robloxia, the asteroid gradually began to leave the atmosphere, as the object was too large to disintegrate, despite the high heat and fast speed, resulting in a sonic boom that was reportedly heard in the states of South Bloxlina and some parts of Eastern Robloxia. At this point, according to studies, the object briefly slowed down to around a speed of 26 kilometers and began to approach the ground for the remainder of the path.

Based on video recordings, photos taken during the approach, and RASA research and studies, scientists concluded that when the asteroid first entered the planet's atmosphere, it was traveling at a speed of around 30 kilometers (18.6 miles per hour), which was faster than its original estimated speed and as expected, was heading in the direction of Bloxburg Valley. The asteroid's speed decreased to around 25 kilometers per second as it passed through Bloxarkansas, 25 seconds before impact. Because of how close the object was to ground, several people reported experiencing intense heat which caused first-degree burns within their skin. The bright lighting also caused people to become temporarily blind for an estimated two to three hours, though the exact number varied.

Impact

Approximately one second prior to the impact, the Bloxburg meteorite began to break up as it was at an altitude of 23.3 kilometers (14.5 miles). The mass of the projectile impacted a sedimentary rock of density 2,500 kg/m3 in the Historic Downtown Bloxburg area in a broken condition, striking its surface at a velocity of 21.3 kilometers per second (13.3 miles per second). The energy lost in the atmosphere is 2.01 x 1017 joules (4.80 megatons TNT), while the impact energy is 2.06 x 1017 joules (4.92 megatons TNT). It formed a normal-shaped simple crater despite atmospheric crushing, as the fragments are not significantly dispersed. The transient crater formed had a diameter of 1.81 kilometers (1.12 miles) and a depth of 639 meters (2096 feet). Positions inside the transient crater were ejected upon impact. The final crater formed had a diameter of 2.26 kilometers (1.40 miles) and a depth of 481 meters (1577 feet). The floor of the crater is underlain by a lens of broken rock debris (breccia) with a maximum thickness of 223 meters (731.0 feet). It melted or vaporized 0.00130 km³ of its target, with roughly half the melt remaining in the crater.

People near ground zero were instantly vaporized as a result of the intense heat from the explosion. According to studies, the victims of the ground zero "most likely did not experience any pain at all" as a result of the explosion. People who were close to the asteroid's impact were met with heat that was described as "so extreme" that their skins began to melt within just one to two seconds, followed by an air blast that sent victims flying into the air and destroyed buildings almost completely. The ground was also subjected to extreme damage; the impact caused the ground to break apart and launch high into the sky, with some reports estimating that bits of dirts had traveled as far as near space, though sources believed that the information was false. The explosion was accompanied by waves of fireballs that, according to scientists, "rushes toward the remaining surviving buildings at very high speeds" and completely destroyed "anything in its path," as well as burning objects and knocking down trees to the ground, which were also quickly vaporized. The impact was felt in multiple states, including Rovada or Brickland. Many people reported hearing and feeling a shockwave, followed by "strong gusts of winds" that wrecked houses inside, though most houses suffered no visible damage, with the exception of a few. Mayor Dr. Lina Rivers, who claimed that she left the state ten minutes before impact, stated that the shockwave nearly flipped over the vehicle that she was in and caused her leg to twist, though it healed quickly after.

Eventually, it caused a firestorm that quickly spread through the ruins, killing more people who were either trapped in the debris or were near death. Those in the shelters reported hearing a "huge popping sound" followed by dust and debris hitting the area and a "very brief, yet devastating" earthquake. The remaining parts of the asteroid that were sent flying up before rushed back down and struck land various times, causing more damage to the ground, damaging it and spreading wildfires. Those who survived the impact described the scenes as "entering hell" and witnessed "total destruction, dead bodies or ashes of the victims, burning trees, the ground cracking throughout, and more others"; the sky was estimated to have been covered in dark white and blackish ash clouds that spread for miles around the world, though not as severe, but high from those of the 2015 Titan Volcano eruption; some ash remains have been reported as far as Central Robloxia. As a direct result, nearly half of the United States of Robloxia experienced some of the worst air quality in a very long time.

Initial estimates of the death toll from the meteorite impact were around 2,000 robloxians[7]. Later estimates were more precisely placed at around 2,290 robloxians. The ash cloud from the impact may have killed as many as 5,000 Robloxians in Greater Bloxburg City alone. The final estimate of the total death toll in Greater Bloxburg City was around 7,520, while RASA estimates placed the death toll at 7,490 people. This is a lot considering there are around 15,000 robloxians left in Greater Bloxburg City. There were also over 9,000 missing persons in the Bloxburg Valley area, mostly in the counties surrounding Greater Bloxburg City. While the exact number of deaths and injuries varies as a result of other factors, including earthquakes, tsunamis and aftershocks, the most common estimate is that over 10,000 robloxians were killed throughout the Robloxia, with up to 40,000 injured (some in multiple states, but mostly in Bloxburg Valley). There were few survivors at the time of the asteroid's impact; with the destruction of most hospitals, it was nearly impossible for a person to seek assistance. On June 29, the day after the impact, Mason "Scorpio" Smith declared three days of national mourning. There was a massive hospitalization operation underway to locate the injured and transfer them to surviving hospitals in nearby states, as the majority of Bloxburg Valley's hospitals have been severely damaged or destroyed.

Immediate response and subsequent weeks

Almost immediately following the asteroid's impact, all phone service in the state was completely cut off. President Mason "Scorpio" Smith stated on social media that he experienced "intense shaking that lasted for roughly five seconds" and then contacted Dr. Lina Rivers about the explosion. Vice President Matthew Smith, who was seeking refuge in his hometown, reported the same incident. At the same time, United Roblox Countries was briefed on the event and requested that all resources, including planes, be sent to Bloxburg Valley to look for survivors and assess damage; however, due to the ash clouds, they were blocked and turned back around, four hours after impact. Pilots stated that before entering the state, they saw a "immense amount of smoke" and assumed it was a wildfire, but it was quickly revealed to be ash. A group of scientists from RASA was sent in to check the damage about five hours after impact, wearing N95 masks and long-sleeved shirts and pants, and they discovered "damage so extreme that there was nothing left"; the plan had been agreed upon days before the asteroid hit.

Because of the effects, there was no immediate information about how severe the damage was at the time, except for details provided by various people, and very few images of the aftermath were captured between one and three hours after the impact from survivors. Ten hours later on June 29, another group of scientists was dispatched to assess the damage and photograph it using a protective screen. According to the United Roblox Countries, the first photos from near ground zero were taken, displaying extensive damage, and shortly after, RASA was briefed on the survey and ordered them to return debris samples, including those from the asteroid, because they believed the impact sent small-scale parts flying to the ground. RASA ordered for the scientists to return back and to wait until the ash cloud mostly cleared from the state, in which they stated that it would "take roughly weeks to months". Another plan was carried out the same day in the evening, with various scientists, including the same two groups, being dispatched to investigate damage in other states. The scientists returned to the organization on June 30, two days after the asteroid's impact, with images of various damage to houses, buildings, and streets, as well as the discovery of deceased people. RASA noticed that the ash clouds were expanding toward the East-North of the Robloxia and ordered that survivors evacuate the affected states; those who survived the event or were unharmed were forced to leave their homes. It is estimated that as a result of the event, at least 2-4 million people left the country by the end of the year. Days after the impact, wildfires from the firestorm swept through forests in several states, including South and North Bloxifornia, displacing even more people. The effects were also seen in other countries, including Bloxico and some southwest areas of Bloxanada, where approximately 100,000 robloxians were affected by poor air quality.

Dr. Lina Rivers stated that people will be able to return to Bloxburg at least until December 2025 (the original statement said that Robloxians would be able to return on June 30, 2025, which received the most backlash because it implied that the entire area would be habitable by then, confusing some Robloxians who entered the city on that day only to discover that while the downtown district was rebuilt, the rest of the city was missing). She also projected that it would take months to even years to rebuild the entire city. However, because ash concentrations in the atmosphere had reached lethal levels, Robloxians did not return to Bloxburg by July 2026. There were talks to have the date pushed forward to July 28, 2025, but this recovery, while speedy and quick, failed to appease Robloxians who preferred a more meticulous approach involving looking at crucial steps, hiring suitable builders, and making decisions that can later be reversed.

Operation Clean-Up

Main article: Operation Clean-Up

Hours after the asteroid's impact, United Roblox Countries contacted members of the Robloxia government and Bloxburg Valley officials to discuss the clean-up, with President Mason "Scorpio" Smith was informed of a meeting and discussed the proposals virtually. Immediately after, they planned to launch Operation Clean-Up, which was set to begin the following month between July 10 and July 20. According to RNN, the plan was originally scheduled to begin around July 12, but was delayed due to the intense ash clouds that remained in the state and across the United States; Initially forecasted to begin on July 20 as this is when the intense ash clouds would disperse or air quality would return to non-lethal levels, it was approved to begin on July 29, much later than expected. According to those who worked at RASA, they were ordered to travel to the state with a group of people to clean up debris and survey damage, primarily among those who were affected near or at ground zero. The impact was thought to have vaporized all buildings and victims, but a survey of the area revealed that only a few objects remained, including small sections of walls from the former Bloxburg Fresh Food.

By the following week, around August 6, the group, known as the Clean-Up Crew, had recovered various parts from victims, buildings, trees, streets, and cars that were deep in the ground, forcing them to dig up the remaining debris. They were then transferred to a group of vans, which were returned to the organization for additional research and studies on the asteroid's effects. The clean-up process for Ground Zero was completed earlier than planned on August 19, as the crew expected "to cover more than just parts"; pieces from the asteroid were discovered later in the process by a group of Robloxians on September 2, but the information was not made public until September 16. RASA stated that they waited to confirm that the parts were from the same meteor.

Reactions

Political

  • United States of Robloxia president Mason "Scorpio" Smith, despite being sickened, was "deeply shocked" by the asteroid's discovery.
  • United States of Robloxia vice president Matthew Smith was "horrified" and urge for immediate evacuation within the Bloxburg area. Originally announced by Mason, he ultimately addressed the nation on June 21, 2025.
  • Bloxburg mayor Dr. Lina Rivers has ordered evacuations to relocate robloxians living in the area where the meteorite is expected to hit, as well as a general eviction effort. New temporary housing for the displaced has been provided by Dr. Lina Rivers and several other mayors or leaders from Bloxburg Valley and surrounding states. This is one of the largest eviction efforts in the area. She led the evacuation throughout, trying to save as many people as possible despite the many obstacles. She only left the city ten minutes before impact.
  • Bloxburg Valley Representative and Progressive Party chairman John Puma expressed concern over the situation and supported actions to save the lives of Robloxians living in the area. He also condemned the government's failure to organize the relocation of people from Bloxburg and encouraged the mobilization of RASA and the destruction of the meteorite. He personally came to Bloxburg to help with the evacuation. He later joined the charity Save Bloxburg! organizing part of the evacuation, and also supported the city government. After Mason "Scorpio" Smith, despite sickened, announced that all people in the southern part of Bloxburg Valley had been evicted, he recorded a video of the crowds of residents on the streets of Bloxburg and asked, "Have these robloxians been evacuated yet? Is this city empty?" He also attended several protests in Greater Bloxburg City and criticized the government for its unprofessional organization of the evacuation. He remained in Bloxburg until the last minutes and took part in command of the final actions in the 24 hours before the strike.
  • Telamon Islands President Kamehameha Makakala expressed sympathy for the residents of the city and surrounding areas. He also assured the evacuation of all Telamon Islands citizens in the area affected by the meteorite. He assured that he would allow Telamonian charities to support the evacuation, and also delivered some boats to Bloxburg.
  • The vice minister of the People's Republic of Slendernawa expressed solidarity with the Bloxburg population.
  • Several politicians have criticised the federal government for slow response due to 10,000 fatalities while many were also debating for leadership on rebuilding Bloxburg.

Global

The meteorite has also immediately attracted global attention, especially through social media due to its major impact. Following the days of the impact, many wildfires began, making it more difficult to rebuild settlements affected. This prompted several nations to provide some aid to Robloxia, including Telamon Islands, New Luobu and Ro-Indi, with Robloxia receiving a considerable amount of doctors, nurses and medical supplies.[8]

General

Following the announcement, a movement titled "Boycott the Meteor" began to occur statewide, while a sub-movement, known as "Destroy the Meteor," gained little traction, where people refused evacuation orders, arguing that "they do not need to save what they can." Some joined due to the historic downtown district being iconic. The sub-movement falsely argued that the meteor could destroy most of Roblox, including Robloxia, wipe out a significant amount of life, and trigger a mass extinction, and robloxians will potentially not survive, and to prevent this, the meteor needs to be destroyed.
