Roregon is a state located in the Telamon Northwest region of the western region of Robloxia. It is known for its geography that supports tourism, which includes scenic coastlines along the Telamon Ocean and dense forests, and also volcanic mountain ranges. The state is home to the smallest park in Roblox, Rowood Park, measuring only 452 square inches (0.29 m² or 3.72 studs²), a notable landmark located in the state capital, Ralem despite Middlesborough being the most populated settlement in the state. Roregon officially became a state on February 14, 1859, and has since played a significant role in the economic and cultural development in the region. The state is also home to the largest known organism in Robloxia, a subterranean fungus spanning approximately 2,200 acres (8.9 km² or 113.6 kilostuds²) within a protected forest.

Unlike many other states in Robloxia, Roregon is notable for its lack of income and sales taxes, a policy that has been in place for decades and still remains. This tax structure has attracted a variety of businesses, particularly in the technology, manufacturing, and creative industries, contributing to its growing economy. Roregon is also one of the few states where residents are not required to pump their own fuel, a regulation that has been in effect since the mid-20th century. These unique policies differentiate Roregon from other states in the nation.

The Noobus Fir (Abies noobus), a species native to Roregon’s extensive forests, serves as the state tree. As of the 2024 census, Roregon has a population of 4,026,584. The state capital, Ralem, serves as the political and administrative center, while it also has many other major cities.

Etymology

The name Roregon is believed to have originated from certain Robloxian explorers who explored into the region during the late 18th century in order to establish a few cities. One widely accepted theory suggests that the name was derived from the Dergon River, a major river that runs through the state. The river itself was named after the indigenous people, who inhabited the area long before Robloxian settlement. Another theory proposes that the name comes from an old Bloxanadian term, Rorogan, which translates to "land of the evergreen fog" referring to the state's dense and high snow at northern parts. Regardless of its exact origins, the name Roregon became officially recognized when the state entered the United States of Robloxia on February 14, 1859.

History

Establishment and Early Years (1859–1900)

On February 14, 1859, Roregon officially became a state of the United States. Statehood brought both opportunities and challenges as Roregon transitioned from a loosely governed territory into a state due to its growing population. The state’s dense forests, fertile lands, hills, and coastline made it an attractive location for timber, agriculture, and trade, industries that quickly supported the early economy. In the decades following statehood, logging towns expanded across the state just like neighboring states. Logging towns particularly expanded along the Dergon River and in the Roregon Mountain Range, where vast amounts of timber were harvested.

The late 19th century also saw significant railroad expansion in Roregon. The Roregon West Railway, completed in 1872, connected Roregon’s major settlements with nearby cities in North Bloxifornia and Kionne Republic, which are its neghborings states, allowing goods to be transported more efficiently across the region. Roregon’s coastal regions in the southern parts developed into important trading centers, as ports such as New Ralem and Southport became major centers for shipping and fishing industries. Meanwhile, Ralem, the capital city, grew gradually. The city’s early development was marked by the construction of the Roregon State Capitol building in 1881 and the establishment of Roregon State University in 1893.

Industrial Growth and Economic Expansion (1900–1945)

As the 20th century began, Roregon experienced rapid industrial growth, majorly supported by manufacturing, forestry, and agriculture. The timber industry continued to expand, with logging companies establishing large-scale operations in the state’s southern region. By the 1920s, Roregon had become one of the leading timber-producing states in Robloxia after North Bloxifornia and South Bloxifornia, with numerous of lumber mills operating in cities such as Ralem, Roregon Town, and Timberville. The agriculture sector also rose, particularly in the Roregon Valley, where farmers produced grains and fruit for both local consumption and national trade.

However, this period was not without challenges. The Great Depression of the 1930s devastated Roregon’s economy, leading to high amounts of unemployment and financial problems. Many logging operations shut down, and industrial production declined. The construction of Roregon’s first major dams in the late 1930s, such as the Telamon Dam, provided jobs. These dams would later supply power to Roregon’s major cities.

During Roblox War II, Roregon played a crucial role. The state became a major center for shipbuilding and military production, with factories in Westport and Stud City producing naval vessels, aircraft components, and military supplies. Thousands of Roregonians enlisted in the armed forces, while those on the home front contributed through industrial work and resource production.

Post-War Development and Urbanization (1945–1980)

The post-war era exprienced significant urbanization and modernization across Roregon. Returning Robloxian soldiers caused a population boom, leading to the rapid expansion of cities and suburbs. Ralem, in particular, grew into a large city, with the construction of new highways, business districts, and residential neighborhoods. The Roregon State Highway System, completed in 1952, improved transportation and connectivity, making it easier for people and goods to move across the state.

This period also saw the rise of progressive policies and environmental movements. As industrial expansion continued, concerns over deforestation and pollution led to the establishment of state parks and other projects during the 1960s. In 1972, Roregon became one of the first states in Robloxia to implement strict environmental protection laws, regulating logging activities and preserving large areas of natural forests and wildlife habitats.

The Rise of Businesses, Technology and the Modern Era (1980–Present)

By the 1980s and 1990s, Roregon had significantly expanded its technology and has also gone through a lot of modernization. The state became known as the “Silicon Rorest”, a nickname referring to its growing technology industry and environmental preservations. Companies specializing in software development, gaming, and artificial intelligence began setting up headquarters in cities such as Ralem and Westport.

Economy

Roregon has a well developed economy, supported by industries such as technology, manufacturing, agriculture, forestry, and tourism. The state has long been known for its timber industry, which played a crucial role in its economy during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, while logging and wood product manufacturing remain significant, Roregon has also been split into other sectors, particularly in marine, technology and trade. The “Silicon Rorest”, a nickname given to Roregon’s technology, has become a major supporter of economic growth, with software development, artificial intelligence, and game design companies headquartered in cities like Ralem. A major technology company is Roregon Software Development. Major companies in Robloxia’s gaming and digital entertainment industry also have headquarters or regional offices in Roregon.

Agriculture continues to be a crucial sector in Roregon’s economy, with the Roregon Valley and southern farmlands serving as major centers for grain, fruit, and dairy production. The state is known for its vineyards and wine industry, with Roregon wines gaining national and international recognition. Roregon’s coastal fisheries and marine industries contribute significantly as well, with ports like New Ralem, Southport and Roregon International Port handling trade, fishing, and shipping operations. Tourism is another major economy, due to its landscapes, state parks, and outdoor recreational activities. Visitors from across Robloxia travel to experience activities such as hiking, skiing, camping. Furthermore, Roregon's unique tax policies, which include no statewide sales tax, have attracted businesses and residents. Skiing remains a very popular activity as northern parts get large amount of snow.

Geography and Climate

Roregon is characterized by diverse landscapes, ranging from coastal regions and dense forests to volcanic mountain ranges and fertile valleys. The state is bordered by North Bloxifornia to the south, Kionne Republic to the east, and the Telamon Ocean to the west. Towards the north, the state is bordered by another country, Bloxanada. Its geography is shaped by the Roregon Mountain Range, which runs through the central to northern parts of the state and is home to some of the tallest peaks in the region. Mount Roregon, the highest peak in Roregon, stands at 12,426 feet (3,787 meters) and is a popular destination for climbers and ones who enjoy outdoor activities. The Dergon River, one of the longest rivers in Roregon, flows from the eastern highlands through the Roregon Valley and into the Telamon Ocean, serving as a vital water source for agriculture and hydroelectric power generation.

The Roregon coastline is known for its bumpy cliffs, beaches, and coastal towns that have many resorts, making it a major destination for tourism and fishing industries. The northern regions of Roregon experience harsh winters with heavy snowfall, particularly in the mountainous areas, making them common areas for winter sports. In contrast, the southern regions have a more temperate climate, with mild winters and warm summers. The Roregon Valley, located between the coastal and mountain ranges, has a moderate climate, making it one of the most agriculturally productive areas in the state. Due to its geographical diversity, Roregon is home to a wide variety of ecosystems. As northern parts have very harsh winters, a considerable amount of fatalities have been caused leading to certain parts around that region being restricted. This area can be known as Roregon Cold Mountains.

Demographics

As of the 2024 Census, Roregon has a population of 4,026,584, making it a medium populated state in the region. The state has experienced a gradual growth over the past several decades, largely due to migration from neighboring states, particularly North Bloxifornia and the Kionne Republic. The population is concentrated in urban areas, with Ralem, the state capital, being the most populous city at a population of around 400 thousand. Other major cities such as Westport, Timberville, and others have also seen growth due to economic opportunities and expanding industries. Despite urbanization, a significant portion of the population still resides in rural areas, particularly in the northern and eastern regions, where forests, mountains, and farmlands dominate the landscape. These regions are home to small connected communities that have maintained traditional industries like timber, fishing, and agriculture.
