Matthew Smith (born January 2, 1986) is a Robloxian politician who was the 36th vice president of Robloxia from 2024 until his impeachment in 2025. A member of the Robloxian Conservative Party, he represented Bloxburg Valley in the Robloxian Senate from 2011 to 2024.
Early Life
Smith was born in Bloxburg, Bloxburg Valley to a family with a history related to the society and civics, which influenced his early interest in helping the community and being interested in being involved in public service. His father, Thomas Smith, was a state legislator for a considerably long time, spanning around two decades. His career began in local governance, where he worked as a councilor for Bloxburg.
Senatorship
On November 2, 2010, he narrowly beat out the Robloxian Reform Party candidate for a seat in the Robloxian Senate, representing Bloxburg Valley. He was officially sworn in on January 3, 2011, where he focused on issues related to infrastructure, environmental policy, and labor rights. In 2014, he had helped in increasing employment in certain areas in the region, and he quickly became one of the youngest politicians to do such an action.
2024 presidential election
Vice-presidential campaign
Smith's political career took a significant turn on September 10, 2024 when he was asked to be the running mate to Conservative presidential nominee, Mason "Scorpio" Smith, in which he accepted. It was offically announced the next day at a press conference in Silverton City. Their campaign would resonate with millions seeking change. Smith and Scorpio's platform emphasized traditional values, military strength, economic independence, and the preservation of individual rights.
Closing days
Before election day, David Baszucki, the incumbent president, had quite a significant lead in the polls. However, in the weeks leading up to the election, that margin would decrease dramatically. Baszucki's radical stance on politics threw off most right wing voters, most of which switched their support to Smith and Scorpio's campaign. Just before election day, the polls showed Smith and Scorpio leading, with Donald Trumpblox and Peakala Harris close behind.
Election
At 11:30 on election night, all news channels projected that Smith and Scorpio had won the race, with 330 electoral votes. However, this number would increase. At 12:00 poll closing, pollsters called every state on the West Coast for Smith and Scorpio, giving them their final vote count of 425. In addition, they also won the popular vote. It was the best election performance of any party since 1994.
Vice presidency
Matthew Smith was officially sworn in on December 1, 2024. During this time, he presided over the Robloxian Senate by breaking ties on the Robloxian Senate and gave key advice and expert insights to Mason Scorpio Smith, helping Scorpio make high-level decisions. Unfortunately, his vice presidency terminated on October 29, 2025 when he and the Robloxian he gave advice to, as well as every member of the Robloxian government succession was impeached successfully on the charge of political inactivity, causing David Baszucki on an emergency request to seize power. David Baszucki doubted whether he needed a running mate since corporations he ran have multiple vice presidents, before choosing his brother to serve as a running mate, in a move what critics called "Baszucki Dynasty", arguing that they have changed the members of succession to the Baszucki family to ensure that Robloxia remains governed by them until David Baszucki chooses to resign.
