Brickington is a town in the Robloxian state, South Bloxifornia, located in Brickington County near the border with North Bloxifornia. With a population of 53,271, as of the 2024 census, it is a mid-sized town known for its vast flat and empty landscapes surrounding it, which is also known as South Bloxifornian Plains, located within the south of North Bloxifornia and North of South Bloxifornia. It stretches across much of the surrounding region. The town's geography is characterised by vast open plains, with very little trees and is located approximately 26 miles from Willsham and is a part of the Greater Brickington metropolitan area.
The town's location near the border of North Bloxifornia has also made it a good point for trade in history. Infrastructure development has been gradually growing with the town's expansion, with well-maintained single lane roads making it a “peaceful” area. While the town itself remains relatively quiet compared to major urban centers, it has a balanced local economy and a well connected community.
Etymology
According to historians, the name, “Brickington” is believed to be derived from the term, “Brick” due to many building sites during the late 19th century. However, the other half, “ton” has no fixed theory with the most widely accepted theory saying that it was put due to the locality simply liking it.
History
Brickington was first settled in the early 1810s by farmers and merchants traveling south from the Bloxford Valley. Due to its flat terrain and mild seasonal weather, early settlers found the area suitable for agriculture, especially for wheat and dry corn. By 1826, a small trading outpost was established at what is now Main Street, serving travelers between North Bloxifornia and South Bloxifornia. In 1843, the settlement became a recognized township, and during the mid-19th century, the nearby Brickington Plains were used as a stopping point for cattle drives heading toward coastal markets. In August 1875, the Brickland and Southern Rail Line was constructed with the goal of connecting larger towns around Brickington County.
In the early 20th century, Brickington grew slowly as a result of its distance from larger industrial cities, but it became known for hosting seasonal fairs and agricultural shows, especially the annual Plains Harvest Festival, which dates back to 1908. During the Robloxian Civil Reform Period of the 1950s, local roads were paved and new brick housing developments were constructed across the outer edges of town. In 1974, the Brickington Civic Hall was opened and became the center of town administration. In recent years, Brickington has seen gradual but small population growth, with efforts made in the 2010s to preserve open spaces and regulate housing development.
Infrastructure
Brickington’s infrastructure is often called “simple but reliable” with majority of the roads in and around the town being two-lane, with Brickington Avenue and South Valley Road being the main thoroughfares. A two lane highway, State Route 27, goes through the town, connecting it to smaller ones such as Willsham. The town has one main bus terminal that runs limited routes to surrounding villages. Brickington relies on a single water treatment plant located near the northern plains, and electricity is supplied by the South Bloxifornian Energy Grid. A small communication tower is located near Grafton Hill handles mobile signals, however internet speed can be slow in outer areas.
