Enforcement Notice
| |
|
This Manual of Style is currently ENFORCED on Robloxiapedia. Users will now receive warnings, notices, or requests for correction from staff members if their articles do not comply with these guidelines.
Articles will not be deleted only for Manual of Style violations as articles can just be cleaned up. Contrary to popular belief, a manual of style warning on a page is not a deletion notice. However, please note that if the content violates the Robloxiapedia Deletion and Protection Policy, the User Code of Conduct, or other applicable community policies, we reserve the right to delete the page instead of cleaning it up. Staff members are encouraged to help users improve formatting, structure, tone, and consistency before taking further actions. As such, edits may be performed by staff members to make the page automatically compliant. Please do not revert those edits as those would be seen as defying staff authority. Please review this page carefully before creating or heavily editing articles. You are held responsible for any sanctions brought to your account for violating this policy. |
The Manual of Style for Robloxiapedia is designed to provide all the essential guidance expected from editors when making edits, while also establishing a consistent writing style for all articles. It is the responsibility of every editor to familiarize themselves with and comprehend this manual. Failure to adhere to its guidelines may lead to penalties on your account, in accordance with our rules.
On certain situations (see Exceptions), this may not be enforced if the user who wrote the page requests an exception from the Manual of Style. This is to at least ensure the Robloxiapedia is interpreted as a loose encyclopedia as opposed to a strict encyclopedia.
Grammar Tips
Please take this time to review grammar tips that can largely Robloxiapedia:Manual of Style/Grammar Tips help, especially if your grammar is not as proficient as native English speakers.
Article starting
- In scenarios when an article lead section has the subject’s name, the word(s) building up the subject’s name must be covered in bold. For example, “Greenville is a town.”
- If there are multiple widely used terms for the subject, you can also start with, “Greenville, officially known as the Town of Greenville, is a town in Outagamie County”
- To summarize, the names of the subject is bold in the lead section of the article.
Writing style
Articles must have neutrality. At the same time there must be professionality in writing, at least to some extent, while still being clear to readers. Articles must not be copied from another encyclopedia and pasted here, especially from the Roblox Wiki.
Clarity
Write in simple, clear sentences so that any reader can understand the information without special knowledge. Avoid complicated words when simpler ones work just as well.
Consistency
Use consistent spelling, grammar, and formatting across the article. Do not switch between different date formats, tenses, or writing styles within the same page.
Third Person Point of View
Articles must be always in third person when written. Avoid using words like "I", "We" and "Me", unless quoting someone which should be written between quote marks or under a block quote.

Neutrality
Articles should be neutral in order to avoid opinion disputes as opinions may vary. Articles should not show personal opinions or favoritism. Do not write as if you are reviewing something; write as if you are reporting facts. Personal opinions of notable people can be given within quote marks.
- Bad example: “This is the best game ever made!”.
- Good example: “The game was one of the most-played games in 2024.”
While neutrality is needed, personal and notable opinions of people can be mentioned in quote marks.
- Example: "In 2017, Jacob Smith said "The explosion was heart-breaking" to the Los Angelox Times."
Linking to other pages
When a term, which has its own article in Robloxiapedia, is mentioned in the page you are contributing, link the term to its Robloxiapedia article using the Add a link feature. However, while Fandom allows links to be made multiple times on the same target, it is important to note that this must be done the first time it is mentioned.
- Example: “Around 2025, a meteorite hit Bloxburg's downtown.”
Tone
Articles should be written in a professional and factual tone, but they do not need to sound completely formal or complicated. The goal is to be informative without being difficult or non-sensible to read.
- Avoid casual language.
- Bad example: “This guy is super OP and totally wrecks everyone.”
- Good example: “This character has high attack power, allowing them to defeat most opponents quickly.”
- Avoid overly complex or “academic” language that might confuse readers.
- Bad example: “The operational efficiency of the unit was significantly enhanced by augmented mobility.”
- Good example: “The unit became more effective because it could move faster.”
- Avoid slang or internet shorthand.
- Bad example: “This game is 10/10, no cap.”
- Good example: “The game received high praise from players.”
Plagiarism
Articles should not be directly copied from the Roblox Wiki or any encyclopedia that is independent of ours and pasted here without adaptation. Independence is defined as having all staff members of Robloxiapedia be normal users. This is known as plagiarism, and can result in the article being rewritten to be adapted to the Robloxiapedia universe, if such an adaptation is possible, or speedily deleted if no such adaptation is possible.
Common Encyclopedic Wording
While the goal is to not confuse the readers, there are several words that you can frequently use to improve your article’s overall quality.
- According to
- Appears
- Suggests
- Indicates
- Shows
- However
- Additionally
- Moreover
- Consequently
- Resulted in
While it is not necessary to use this list in every article, it is important use neutral encyclopedic words.
Structure
Layout
- Use proper section headings (== Heading ==) to organize your article.
- Only bold the article’s subject name in the lead section, not repeatedly throughout the article.
- Use italics for names of games, books, movies, and other works.
- Do not use all capital letters for emphasis unless part of an official name.
- Avoid adding unnecessary spaces or blank lines between paragraphs.
- It is important to divide your article into paragraphs, especially if there are too many words making the article look messy and hard to read.
Images and Media
- All images/media need to be relevant to the subject of the article.
- Uploading copyrighted images/media in Robloxiapedia should be done with extreme caution.
- Ask permission before you upload images/media that are copyrighted.
- Sometimes, you might be able to get away with fair use.
- Also, Robloxiapedia might delete copyrighted images and media in accordance to cease and desist orders.
- Add captions to explain what the image shows if necessary.
- Do not use images only for decoration.
Tables
- You may use bullet points for lists of items and numbered lists for sequences or rankings, but do not use them if paragraphs and sentences are more appropriate.
- If there is information which has too much data, it is recommended to use tables for clarity.

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Writing from your own perspective (“I think”, “in my opinion”).
- First-person and second-person writing should not appear in Robloxiapedia except in limited instances.
- Using too much adjectives that insult or praise something.
- Adding irrelevant jokes or off-topic commentary.
- Using internet slang or abbreviations.
- Creating pages which are completely blank without any context for readers.
- Please note that if such a page is found, Robloxiapedia staff will delete the article if the page is not eventually populated by content.
Disambiguation pages
While it is recommended to read this section, it is not necessary to, as it would not apply on regular articles. This section is applicable to editors who would create or edit in disambiguation pages.
The purpose of disambiguation pages is to resolve conflicts when multiple topics share the same or similar names. It helps in guiding readers to the correct article.
- Disambiguation pages should have the title followed by “(disambiguation)”.
- Disambiguation pages do not have full paragraphs, images, infoboxes, or excessive detail.
- Each link should be directed to an existing article of the same or a similar name.
Disambiguation pages are generally quite simple in structure as you do not really need to write about the topic but it should include a list of articles which have the same or highly similar names, in bullet points.
Example
Robloxian may refer to:
Article: Robloxian (disambiguation)
Article Ownership Signs
Robloxiapedia is a collaborative project. This means that no single user owns any article. This policy was implemented on August 2025 to a growing concern that if a Robloxiapedia article is owned, edits can effectively be reverted for any reason by the owner's part, even if the edit follows Robloxiapedia rules. Contrary to belief, the person who created the article or the one who contributed the most bytes is NEVER the owner. When an article is created or a draft is finished, ownership is transferred irrevocably from the editor (or the draft editors) to the entire Robloxiapedia community, and anyone has the right to edit, expand, or improve it in line with our content guidelines. However, mistakes from other users can be fixed by both staff and users who are actively participating in the encyclopedia. Putting signboards or personal disclaimers in an article’s page is never allowed. Asking users to not edit an article is another sign of ownership. Finally, placing it in a category of articles that you created implies ownership. Unless it is a draft or is in the progress of being made, no article is ever owned. However, you may advise editors on important lore using the talk page. Reverting edits simply because of personal disagreement is not allowed although widely accepted lore changes which can negatively impact the article and edits that violate Robloxiapedia guidelines can be reverted without assertion of ownership. Robloxiapedia values collaboration and community, similar to Wikipedia.
Exceptions
Sometimes, you may feel like the Manual of Style is demanding. Robloxiapedia staff members get that. Starting on March 8, 2026, compliance with certain clauses of the Manual of Style will be made voluntary and is no longer strictly required of all users. However, in lieu of it being required, a template (namely {{MOSExceptionRequest}}) needs to be added on the page requesting that the page be checked off as automatically compliant with the manual of style. However, some reasons will not be accepted, including, but not limited to:
- Writing a real-world subject from a real-world perspective
- Using bad grammar
- Using bad formatting
- Using bad files without a reason[1] (such as images/media with bad image/media quality)
- However, they must explain why they were unable to find a higher quality file.
- Lacking sources (if the subject of the article exists in real life)
The only articles in the mainspace that do not need to be cleaned up are draft articles. Draft articles must clearly follow the policies outlined in the draft policy page.

You may also use these articles to refer to current lore in Robloxiapedia to help in ideas and avoid making articles on topics that are already covered.

It is time to practice!
Now that you have mastered the manual of style, you could either practice by writing a new article that follows it or fixing existing articles that do not. See this category for the latter.
