Oliver Fisher (born February 9, 1976) is a Robloxian politician and a member of the Robloxian Reform Party. He served as the governor of Bloxas from 1998 to 2006, a representative of Rovada from 2010 to 2015, and was the party’s nominee for president of the Robloxia in the 2014 presidential election.

Fisher graduated from Lewisville High School in 1994 and stayed two years at Community College of David Springs before leaving in 1996. A year later, at the age of twenty-three, Fisher relocated to Bloxas, where he launched his campaign for governor in November of that year. In 1998, Fisher won the gubernatorial election against Conservative challenger Alex Miller and was inaugurated the following month in December, becoming the youngest Robloxia governor in history. As governor, Fisher supported advanced healthcare, improving education and pushed for gun control. He would win re-election in 2002, but resigned from the role by 2006.

Following that, Fisher was elected as a Robloxia representative for Rovada in 2010. In January 2013, Fisher launched his presidential campaign under the Robloxian Reform Party brand, eventually winning the party’s nomination and selecting Thomas Chambers as his vice president, but was defeated by the David-Gregory ticket in the 2014 general election. He then retired from politics by 2015 and moved to Central Robloxia.

Early life and education

Childhood

Oliver Fisher was born on February 9, 1976, at Silver Hill Medical Hospital in Bloxospokane, North Central County. He was raised by his mother 32-year old Holly Anderson and father 34-year old Harley Llyod. Before that, his mother, Holly, was born in December 1943 and worked as a lawyer before retiring in 1975. His father, Harley, was born in July 1941 and began working in the military at a young age before retiring to spend time with his family, who were struggling financially. Harley worked at a public school from 1969 to 1973 and after that became a musician. They met in 1970 and married the following May.

Fisher lived in a middle-working class apartment, where both Holly and Harley had to work three jobs (due to unexpected financial troubles) and as a result, spent most of his time home with his grandparents Ellie Ellis (1908-1989) and Bobby Lewis (1915-2006). When Fisher was four years old, his family adopted Harry Edwards, whom he initially disliked due to his "weird behavior" but eventually came to like. Beginning at five years old, Fisher attended Summerfield Elementary, where he described his teachers as “among the nicest people in the world”. Fisher mentioned that he was “close to failing math class” and that his teacher “significantly supported” him, allowing him to barely pass. Oliver and his parents were in a car accident when he was nine years old, but they all survived. Fisher did, however, develop a temporary fear of being in a car, which subsided around the age of twelve.

Later years

Holly and Harley divorced in 1989, and the latter moved to Central Robloxia, while Holly invited Fisher to accompany her to a new apartment in Wisconsin. Fisher was a student at Little Valley Middle School at the time, but he had to drop out. He attended Oakland Middle School for the remainder of his middle school years. Fisher became interested in politics at the age of fourteen, inspired by then-President George W. Roblox. He also served as the high school football team's cheerleader, which was Lewisville High School, becoming the group's only male member.

Fisher claimed that as a result of his decision, he was bullied by his classmates, though he was supported by several friends. Fisher left the cheerleading team after five months to become the school's coach, making him the youngest to do so. Fisher began donating to the Robloxian Reform Party at the age of sixteen and, as a senior, was eligible to vote in the 1994 presidential election. Fisher went on to attend Community College of David Springs for two years after graduating, where he served as the president of the politics club, earning a political degree in 1996. After spending over nine months in Central Robloxia, Oliver Fisher moved to Bloxas in 1997, where he worked at a local bar in Fort Cyprus. Beginning by summer of that year, Fisher had begun considering a political campaign to hold the role of governor. Privately, Fisher for months researched the topics of politics and discussed with other politicians. Fisher then registered as a Reformist by early November.

Governor of Bloxas (1998–2006)

Elections

1998

On November 21, 1997, Oliver Fisher launched his political campaign for governor of Bloxas under the Robloxian Reform Party, which was considered to be “impossible” by many. At that time, the governor of Bloxas was Conservative Alex Miller, who was running for re-election and had been favored to win the election. Fisher's campaign began with only $5,000 and a small number of supporters, all of whom were Fisher's friends. His campaign staff involved most of his family members and those that refused to join stated that “they expressed fear of losing” and “embarrassing themselves”. In recent months after the launch, Fisher targeted young voters as a "key to his success" and sought to shift them away from the Robloxian Conservative Party. Fisher supported improving the education system and had discussed the possibility of reforming education and healthcare in two interviews. Fisher also supported strengthening gun laws to stop the increase in shootings.

By June of that year, Fisher was estimated to have received around ten thousand supporters and an article by The New Blockers Times described Fisher’s campaign as “one of the most shocking rises in politics”. By that point, the race was considered a toss-up, though several models predicted that the state would lean Conservative, while very few had the state lean Reformist. Fisher then began to target older voters, but received few supporters from this demographic. On November 4, 1998, Oliver Fisher won the election in a close race, earning 50% to 49%, becoming the youngest governor to be elected to the office at the age of twenty-two. During his victory speech, Fisher stated that he "believed in the hopes of dreams" and "promised to fix the educational system." He was officially inaugurated as governor on December 7, 1998.

2002

After months of speculation, Oliver Fisher announced on February 7, 2002, that he would run for a second term. Fisher ended up winning for a second term on November 5, 2002.

Education

During his campaigns and as governor, Oliver Fisher supported significantly improving the education system. Fisher began investing in teacher training and professional development in February 1999, after working on the plan for many months following his victory, which he refers to as "The Education System Reform Plan”; the actual development won’t not start until late 2001. The following month, he began providing significant resources to employees. He also supported teacher leaders. In April of that year, Fisher worked on addressing mental and physical health issues among teachers, developing mental-health programs for both staff and students. In June 2000, Fisher publicly proposed a plan to allow more security officers at schools, though he expressed “second thoughts” later on. Fisher stated in 2001 that the plan was "in the process" of being reworked.

In a November 2001 speech, Fisher confirmed his plans to reform, yet not all the state's entire education system, stating that "students want more freedom, then they get that freedom" while advocating for adult-like topics to be taught in classes such as paying taxes and engaging in regular adult activities. In 2002, in an interview, Fisher stated that he would “try to shorten the number of school days”, leading to widespread criticism. As a result, Fisher scrapped the idea and continued on improving education, while expressing interest in keeping that promise. In February 2003, Fisher held a series of rallies to promote schools to start later in the days, which was successful. Fisher visited various speeches and delivered his farewell speech at Lewisville High School in 2006, just days before retiring from office.

Healthcare

In April 2001, Oliver Fisher announced that he would expand insurance coverage and introduce a plan that would allow more access to healthcare. Oliver had been working on the plan since late 1999 and discussed it with state health officials, with media sources referring to it as "Olivercare". However, Fisher received harsh criticism for some of his healthcare ideas, and as a result, he reportedly abandoned several of the plans. One of these was to use telehealth, which Fisher had planned for his original campaign. Oliver officially announced the plan as "The Healthcare Expansion" during his second-term campaign rally in February 2002, and it was signed into law by December of that year.

In May 2003, Oliver Fisher announced that the state was planning on constructing school-based health centers and would begin by the following year, but was delayed due to a lack of funding; work would eventually begin by June 2004 and would last until January 2005. Fisher announced in 2005 that he would expand affordability and accessibility. The following year, in March 2006, Fisher began to promote preventive care and create age-friendly environments. In his final week as governor in December of that year, Fisher distributed various resources to hospitals and doctors' offices.

Gun control

In early 2000, Oliver Fisher introduced a state law that increased firearms regulations. By the following year, around February, Fisher had begun working on a plan to ban assault weapons.

2014 presidential campaign

Following the 2004 presidential election, Oliver Fisher announced in January 2005 that he was "likely" running for President of the Robloxia, though he had not yet decided on this. In January 2013, Oliver Fisher announced his political presidential campaign for the 2014 election. Fisher had been preparing for the launch for about six months and expected to have a total of 100 employees by the first week of the campaign. The Oliver campaign headquarters were established in Bloxburg Valley, where Fisher held his inaugural presidential rally campaign on January 29, that year. The campaign aimed to improve the education system, expand universal healthcare, conduct disease research, and boost the economy.

In the polls, Oliver Fisher was trailing Thomas Chambers, who was expected to win the primaries. However, by the following month, Fisher had improved and gained a following among some Robloxian Reform Party supporters, resulting in him winning the majority of the states that Thomas had been projected to win months earlier. As a result, Thomas dropped out of the primaries and supported Oliver for the Robloxian Reform Party nomination. By June of that year, Oliver Fisher had secured the nomination. Following that, he selected Thomas Chambers as Vice President of the Robloxia. His success in the delegations was largely due to the overwhelming support of young voters and independent voters. Oliver Fisher accepted the nomination for president of the Robloxia, as well as Thomas Chambers for vice president, at the 2014 Reformist National Convention in July, stating that "he dreamed for the better future of the Robloxia". In the general election polls, Oliver was leading with the Robloxian Conservative Party in third place, but he was trailing then-President David "Builderman" Bazucki, who had amassed a large following over the years.

President David "Builderman" Bazucki defeated the Oliver-Thomas ticket, as well as the Trumpblox-Trence ticket in the general presidential election on November 4, 2014. Bloxburg Valley, which was considered a tossup by many sources and was the key to his defeat, swung toward the president for the second time in the election, as Oliver received enough electoral votes to win the entire election, but needed the must-win state. In his concession speech, which was delivered minutes before the results were announced in David's favor, Oliver confirmed that he was very disappointed with the results and that "he was sorry that he was not able to make everyone's wishes come true," but promised for the "future of the Robloxia" and that Builderman would support him in making the Robloxia stronger. Despite this, Oliver Fisher flipped several states that were previously expected to lean toward Trumpblox. In December 2014, following David’s inauguration, Oliver Fisher confirmed that he would run for president, but “not at the moment”.
