2023 (also known as AD 2023, pronounced as "two thousand twenty-three", shorten to "23" and its meaning is "spiritual reflection”) was a common year, starting on Sunday of the world calendar and is the 2023rd year in the Common Era (CE). Technically, it is the fourth year of the 2020s decade, despite being the third year. Spiritually, "2023" is supposed to represent fresh starts, revolutions, and transformations. It also encourages you to use your imagination more to solve issues.^[1]

In October and December of last year, instances of the Ro-Bio virus—which was previously thought to be "just the flu"—were detected, marking the start of the unexpected and devastating "zombie" pandemic that rocked the city of Ro-Modest and ushered in the year 2023. The Ro-Bio virus outbreak broke out in the months that followed, becoming the deadliest virus to ever strike the US and spreading to other nations. As a result, by May 2023, the virus was officially proclaimed to be a pandemic. In February, the Brookhaven Conflict took off and got underway. That month, Brookhaven became the first city to be designated a "war" despite being a nation, when for the first time ever, a war was proclaimed within the city. There was a lot of publicity surrounding the "war" on Brookhaven, and it was "seen" as the "weridest" conflict to occur. The battle left the city of Brookhaven severely damaged, with over 1,000 dead and 10,000 injured before its conclusion. It also claimed the lives of many mayors. The height of the "slender" movement occurred in 2023, when statistics showed that over three million Robloxians identified as "slender." The Roblox Headquarters collapsed in December of that year as a result of several attacks that happened in Roblox City. In 2023, there were a number of earthquakes; remarkably, the majority of them occurred in the United States, with the deadliest being in Livetopia in April.

The earthquake turned out to be the worst in US history and the deadliest since the 1950s. Only one month earlier, in March, Los Angeles County was struck by yet another devastating earthquake that claimed over 700 lives and injured countless more. Unusually for the year, there weren't many weather-related occurrences. The worst tornado outbreak occurred in April and had the largest number of EF5 tornadoes; according to sources, almost 100 of the tornadoes were EF4 and EF5, the highest ratings. In May 2023, a dust storm that had hit the city of Mount Redcliff burst, causing ash to spread over many states, killing a number of people and injuring several more.

In the film industry, 2023 saw the end of the feature-films success, in which films were at a all-time low and except for few films, most of them were box-office bombs and was seen as "one of the worst performing movies" of all time, despite some of them being heavily praised and were met with positive reviews. This year saw the numerous cases of a bunch of feature-films being delayed to the year 2024 or 2025, with the notable one being the animated film Roblox: The Feature-Film being in this year being delayed to its final release of November of the following year. Numerous of them were delayed, mostly due to the writer strikes. Overall, for the film industry, 2023 had been seen as "one of the worst years" ever.

Demographics

After surpassing 8 billion people in April of 2022, the world population was estimated to be around 8.352 billion on January 1, 2023. By the end of the same year, on the evening of December 31, 2023, statistics showed that 8.743 billion people were on the planet. One day later, the statistics of births and deaths were announced: between January 1 and December 31, over three hundred ninety-one million ("391" million) infants were born, with the biggest reports of births occurring in March and April. Over 101 million individuals died. The average life expectancy for the world in 2023 was lower than it was in 2020, with the oldest person recorded as being in their 80s and the youngest as being in their 30s. For the 2020s decade, the average life expectancy was typically in the 50s and early 60s. However, in 2023, the average life expectancy was recorded as being in the 40s, the lowest the world had ever seen.

In comparison to earlier years, the rate of extreme poverty in 2023 was at an all-time high, with statistics showing that it was over 39% percent, the highest percentage ever recorded worldwide and an increase over the preceding two years. The statistics showed that the rate of child mortality was at its lowest, at 4% percent.

January

• January 2 – Around 1,000 individuals in Ro-Modesto were transformed into zombies that resembled live beings and started attacking other people as a result of the first ever "zombie outbreak". After the city was placed under strict lockdown, all of the zombies were vanquished the next day, but more than 500 of them suffered serious injuries, making this zombie outbreak one of the worst to ever happen—mainly in only one day. Although some claimed the outbreak originated in a lab, the exact source is still unclear.
• January 3 – At this moment, plans were underway to remove the Creamy Robloxian military from the communist country of Brick Rigs.
• January 5
  • Greenville High School was the site of the bloodiest public school massacre, where suspect Karlson Robert shot and killed 35 people while injuring 12. In just that year alone, it is the worst mass shooting to occur.
  • After being taken over by Team Nyami, a local train carrying more than 900 passengers crashed at Ro-Chateau Station in Ville de L'Amour. nearly 772 people are killed and nearly 300 more are injured in the catastrophe.
  • Roblox launched more nuclear weapons at Slenders in a sequence of events that resulted in over 100 deaths and 500 injuries, making it one of the deadliest Slenders incidents ever.
• January 8 – Somewhere in Ro-Toronto, Bloxontario, the first instance of the novel virus Ro-Bio was recorded.
• January 14 – 23 Flummels are reportedly killed when AirGojira Flight 9910 crashes onto Flummel Island.^[2]
• January 16 – The first discovery of Piccu Island reveals the presence of triceracorns and flummels on the island.^[3]

  • The first day of Trackksto Stadium was not as packed as anticipated, and ten days later, due to negative feedback and a dearth of good vibes, it was destroyed.^[4]
  • Three passengers were injured when Valkyrie Airways Flight 33 almost was hijacked by a crowd of people. Fortunately, the jet managed to land safely.
• January 19 – Telamon broke apart from the Robloxian State Central.^[5]
• January 28 – Three persons were shot and killed by an unknown suspect at a short-term rental house in the 270 block of Renual Drive, north of Beverlox Hills, in the Beverlox Canyon community. There were four injuries. In Beverlox Canyon, this is the deadliest mass shooting.^[6]
• January 29 – One of the several Robloxian military outposts was attacked by an unidentified "large" spacecraft. The spacecraft was finally destroyed and retrieved, but not before more than 400 people were hurt and more than 50 people died. Referred to as "Incident 01/29/2023" in contemporary times, it has turned into a symbol and had a significant role in the development of Robloxian military installations. In January 2024, the precise origin of the spaceship remains unknown.
• January 30 – The February 1993 Aerostar Flight AQ5514 tragedy prompted the RSCP Foundation to launch an investigation.

• February 4 – The government shuts down and the official website goes down after the October 2021 event for the first time since the early 1990s.
• February 5
  • Around ten nuclear weapons are stolen by terrorists from a different nation, and the first ever war is declared on Brookhaven. Brookhaven was the first city to be involved in a conflict for the first time.
  • Over 10,000 people had died as a result of the superstorm by the time it reaches Baja Bloxifornia, which was also devastating neighboring states.

• June 3 – An engine explosion from the Photon Space Agency almost kills astronaut Seth Roxer Steven Ez.^[13]
• June 5 – For the first time, Hurricane Arlene forms. Southeast of Blorida, Arlene was first observed as a feeble tropical wave.
• June 8 – As the "totalitarian" concept gained traction, several Robloxian superstars started receiving accusations of totalitarianism from other individuals or their own fan base. Eventually, this fad gained widespread popularity across the United States and has since petered out.
• June 9 – When they met their RSCP Foundation colleagues in the reception desk lobby, SCP Foundation researchers were discovered dead in the Robloxia Hotel. The slabbing involved the use of a knife, and at least five more people were hurt.

• October 21 – For the second time this year, the US government shut down, sparking rioting and inflicting damage to structures all day long. Even though it was only temporary, it ranks as one (fourth) of the deadliest shutdowns ever, with the October 2021 shutdown continuing to remain the deadliest in US history.

• Unknown date – People lose all of their "points" when the well-known app Robloxian Points is withdrawn.
• November 2 - Lexington Towers opens its new complex after the first phase of its construction was completed. As it was only first-phase construction, there was no official inaguration.
• November 3 – There was a solar eclipse that could be seen in the skies over Bloxburg Valley and Bloxburg.^[36]
• November 13
  • The landing point of Chaos Insurgency Operation "Rotted Blox" is disclosed by the RSCP Foundation. The leak went viral on social media, revealing that the RSCP Foundation is erecting defenses on the beach and that they will soon land because of the location of RSCP-5913, also known as The Rotten Robloxian.^[37]
  • Operation Rotted Blox descended upon South Bloxifornia's mountains only hours after the leak went viral on social media.^[38]
• November 15 – After rioting and protesting for more than five to six months, the Furry-Rights Riots came to a conclusion.^[39]
• November 17 – The RHS5312 aircraft at Volcano Island lost connection after passing close to the volcano. After it crashed into a tree, the plane was discovered a few hours later, with all 12 occupants dead.^[40]

• December 1 – The public was informed by AST that new rovers would be sent to the planet Mars to investigate the possibility of finding ice or liquid water on the planet's surface.^[42]
• December 9–12 – December 2023 Robloxia attacks: The towns of West Island and Robloxia City see a string of intense terrorist strikes. The Roblox Hotel was the site of the initial attack, and Roblox Headquarters was the site of the subsequent attacks, which together made this the deadliest collapse in the city since the attacks on New York City in September 2001. The two last attacks happened in West Island, one in a neighborhood park and the other at a movie theater. In addition to the assailants, the incident resulted in 1,000 deaths and numerous injuries.

• December 22 – At the Robloxia Government Headquarters, President Builderman gives a memorial address honoring those who perished in the assaults.
• December 23 – Chaos Insurgency carried out a mass shooting at George H. W. Blox Elementary School, leaving 14 people dead and 6 injured.^{[45] [46]}

  • While attempting to escape from a nearby jail, Muhammad Ahmed Alam was shot twice.

Deaths

With a total of 101 million deaths throughout the course of the year, 2023 was one of the deadliest years ever. According to statistics released in December 2023 by the SUNB College of Environmental Science and Forestry, who made the decision to start analyzing the death toll and causes, the two most common causes of death for individuals in the year were gun violence and plane crashes, aside from other grave and hazardous incidents. Additional reasons were related to the recent Ro-Bio virus pandemic, which was one of the deadliest and fastest-growing viral outbreaks since the COVID-19 pandemic. The virus had impacted much of the world and was responsible for nearly 39 million fatalities. By May of that year, the COVID-19 pandemic had evolved from a "not deadly" to an epidemic condition in comparison to previous years. Furthermore, a new virus that had previously afflicted over 5 million individuals had killed one million of them by the beginning of 2023, and by the end of the same year, the virus had murdered over 9 million people. Due to the lack of other conflicts and the fact that Brookhaven was a city, the "war" turned out to be the bloodiest conflict of the year, accounting for 13% of the city's fatalities between February and May of that year.

The report claimed that gun violence was "at its all-time high," with 10% of fatal shootings occurring in the United States. Six mass shootings this year alone have risen to the top of the list of the deadliest and most violent shootings in the country, with the majority of cases occurring abroad, primarily in Mexico and other nations without gun laws. According to reports from January 2024, people who stayed up late typically had much lower life expectancies than other people. This was due to the peak era and the rise of social media. Additionally, the life expectancy for the 2020s decade, and particularly for 2023 and the upcoming years, was at an all-time low. Economy

Among the most important concerns in 2023 was the economy. There was a modest recession in the US economy that year around February, when the Ro-Bio epidemic started to spread. The economy has declined by over 50%, reaching its lowest level since 2020, according to sources. Following AwesomeAlexK's passing, beginning in the first few days of April, AAK Corporation abruptly collapsed and swiftly declared bankruptcy. The economy was at its lowest point for the entirety of April, as it had been since 2007 and 2008 and maybe even until 2020. Around June 2023, the economy began to slowly rise back up, but fell again within a single week; the crash led in scores of people being laid off from works and the crash had been termed as the "Second Great Depression". After more than nine months, the economy started to improve again early in the next year, and by early 2024, it had returned to its pre-crash normal level.

Numerous significant economic collapses occurred globally, including in the Tovokian Republic, the Kingdom of Icedogs, Neo-Japan, and the Ro French Polyblox. The economy of the Tovokian Republic began to collapse in late April 2023 and reached its zenith in the following month, when several enterprises experienced their first financial collapse and numerous storefronts were forced to close. Among the worst economic collapses since 2001 was the one that occurred in the Tovokian Republic. Due to the economic collapse, particularly in the United States, there were several riots and protests within days of the crisis, including one of the bloodiest uprisings ever. Amidst the economic collapse and the emergence of two novel viruses, the global economy saw its first crash, mostly in the world's two most populous and powerful nations, with the exception of a few tiny ones. This was the greatest economic downturn since the 1930s.

Apart from all those financial meltdowns, Robloxatemala was among the last nations to experience economic collapses, which occurred in November 2023. In general, Health was a big concern for 2023, particularly in the US, since it was the worst year for viruses since 2020. A new virus known as Ro-Bio was previously reported in a number of reports starting in October and peaking in December of the previous year. At that time, it was treated "like the flu," with little attention paid to how "severe" the virus was. A powerful winter storm that began in January 2023 struck several areas of the United States, leaving a trail of up to seven inches overall—and even as high as ten—making it the greatest storm to hit since 2010. The People's Republic of Luobu saw its heaviest snowstorm to date when a major storm hit the nation, with reports of snowfall reaching nine inches. Even though 2023's weather ended up being much better than the 10 years prior, it was still among the "worst" and "powerful" years in terms of weather patterns generally. Asia saw many significant droughts, with 2023 being the worst year for the Bloxaldives because to power disruptions brought on by the heat.

From August 1 to August 10, there was an extreme heat wave in the United States. This year is the hottest on record for the country, with reported highs of 130 degrees. Over 400 people lost their lives as a result of the heat wave. The last human remains from the earthquake that occurred in CE 200 were recovered in Ro-Czechia in November.
