The Roblox Headquarters is a small complex of three buildings, including the 130-story skyscraper landmark in Robloxia City, United States of Robloxia. The original skyscraper was initially proposed by then-producer Jamil Smith in 1969. Construction on the structure got underway around 1970, and it was formally inaugurated on May 16, 1972 as a feature of the Robloxia City skyline. Before it was destroyed in December 2023, the skyscraper stood at a height of around 1,000 feet and was the tallest structure in the city. In addition, five more structures were constructed between 1975 and 1986 were added to the Roblox Headquarters complex, and two more major buildings, RH7 and RH8, were added in 1995 and 1997. With a construction cost of around $600 million dollars per each building to a total of nearly $1,800 billion dollars, the skyscraper and its complex became the most expensive buildings of all time.
From the third to the 99th level, there were 2,000 office spaces at the Roblox Headquarters, some of which were among the largest in the city. An observation deck and a number of eateries completed the building. The complex was once thought of as the "big building" and was close to West Island. The building at the time housed the mayor of the city, but more importantly, it was the CEO Roblox's residence. He had been introduced in the year 2000 as a member of the group and had taken over as the CEO of the structure in 2011. Plans to construct a ninth structure nearby were made public in 2022; it was intended to house a movie theater that would be open to both adults and children.
The skyscraper and the complex was severely bombed and destroyed on the evening of December 10, 2023, during the 2023 Robloxia terrorist attacks and subsequently served as the scene of a mass shooting. However, as the structure weakened due to extreme fire, the entire complex eventually collapsed, killing 340 people and injuring more than 870 others. The collapse damaged or destroyed all of the other structures, including the other buildings of the complex. Other major buildings such as Roblox HQ III, V and VIII were also attacked and destroyed.
In 2024, it was announced that more than 800 additional workers would be hired to work on the skyscraper together with the existing workers who used to work on the original skyscraper to construct the new Roblox Headquarters. By 2025, planning had begun, and the new skyscraper's construction had also started. On November 2, 2029, the new Roblox Headquarters, which had been constructed over the preceding four years, officially opened. The updated Roblox Headquarter had all of the same amenities as the old structure, plus a museum, a park, and various other additions. Since the development of the original Roblox Headquarters, the legacy has been utilized several times until its collapse, with the original structure serving as a landmark for both the city and the country.
Pre-Roblox Headquarters
The town in 1951.
The location of the old and new skyscraper used to be a tiny town with at least 700 residents, the most of whom were tourists from other cities, before the first Roblox Headquarters was constructed. Ben Rodriguez, the city's mayor at the time, decided that Robloxia City needed to be extended because there were more Robloxians moving there. When there were 1,000 people living there, the neighborhood was the third-largest in the city at the time. Subsequent construction allowed for more structures to be built. The majority of the mayors in the city at the time thought the town wasn't operating effectively enough and requested that the chief mayor be replaced. Ben Rodriguez rejected and stated in an interview that there would be "simply" nowhere else for the others to go.
Additionally, there were plans to build the first skyscraper in the history of Robloxia City around the early 1950s. The town where the mayors intended to be ousted was chosen from a large number of possible locations. As a result, Ben Rodriguez was the first to declare that a new town will be constructed nearby, complete with modern enhancements to the neighborhood. Ben Rodriguez started to design the construction of the skyscraper prior to the other announcement, deciding that the village would serve as the location of the fourth building in the original Roblox Headquarters. Francis Reynolds created the first skyscraper design while working on the first one, but it received feedback that it was too straightforward and unattractive for the city. Zeddicus Bailey created yet another version, emphasizing on a larger, darker building than Francis's, but it too received criticism for the same reason. Ben Rodriguez decided to abandon the project since he thought the idea wasn't functioning at all after it had been redesigned multiple times and was pitched again.
Following this, Ben announced that the area would be permanently shut down, which caused him to come under fire from some Robloixans who thought he was being disrespectful to them. Ben created his own design for the updated town, which was centered on more sophisticated technology, in an effort to make plans to visit the town again, however due to the town's serious issues, the plan was also abandoned. Most of the residents had moved to other parts of the city by 1960. More than 50 individuals were remained in the town at that point, demonstrating until the issue was resolved. Ben gave the order for police to be sent to them and remove them from the region in order to get rid of them. As a result, every last Robloxian departed as well, and the town's devastation started in 1963 and was completed in 1965. The town continued to exist for more than 70 years at that point, becoming one of Roblox City's oldest towns in the city's history. ideas for the skyscraper included erecting a tall structure even beyond 1967, but these ideas were scrapped early on. In 1968, Ben Rodriguez had already lost his position as mayor of the city.
Background
Planning
Jamil Smith in 1965
Producer Jamil Smith presented a plan for a brand-new skyscraper in the late 1960s. The concept centered on not just building a new tower but also a structure that would entice Robloxians from "over all the world" to visit. When Jamil was searching for fresh concepts to develop a tiny building in the city, he was the one who suggested the idea for the pitch. He made the decision to build his own replica of the new skyscraper at the time after learning about the town and the city's struggle to construct a new tall structure. He studied the earlier ideas for the other towers that two other architects had created before beginning to construct a model of his version. Then, he realized that the entire design had a flaw since it was block-shaped and did nothing remarkable for the skyline. Jamil Smith got to work on his skyscraper design after realizing he could make a much, much better one. The first version of his skyscraper that is known to exist was created on January 29, 1969, and it had a lobby on the first story and a lot of glass. Later, he created more and more variations of the structure, and by June of the same year, he had finished his first skyscraper that he had ever planned.
The skyscraper was now concentrating on having officers' quarters and an advanced top deck for visitors to explore. He formally presented the concept to the city's mayor, Milton Hayes, on July 6, 1969. A few weeks later, he made the design public to a number of individuals. The mayors liked the design overall, despite several of them having concerns about how the building would seem in real life. However, they haven't given the project their approval just yet. As soon as he became aware of the problems, he set to work on developing more of his vision for the structure. Later, on October 1, 1969, Milton Hayes revealed intentions to build a brand-new skyscraper, stating that the building's design was still "in the works" and that the final design would not be shown until later. On September 9, a few weeks earlier, Jamil Smith met with Ben Rodriguez to present the building's design. Jamil Smith made his public announcement of his proposal one more week later, on October 21, describing it as "something special." The skyscraper was the first tall structure Robloxia City had built at the time. Additionally, there were proposals to relocate the proposed tower, but Jamil insisted that it stay in the same area where the village had formerly been.
Design
The final design of the original Roblox Headquarter in 1969
The skyscraper was ultimately given the all-clear to begin construction as part of an agreement with the Robloxia City Building Company on December 21, 1969, making it the first tall structure to be constructed in the city. Jamil Smith presented his final plan for the building to the public at that time, giving it a more contemporary appearance than previous plans he had worked on. A flag with the country of Robloxia's emphasis would be placed at the very top of the building, which had three top and long additional structures at its summit. Each of these buildings got smaller and smaller as they rose higher. Jamil Smith continued to research other well-known structures from other cities during the building's final design phases. The Empire State Building is one of the skyscrapers that, according to legend, inspired him to build the top. Jamil Smith referred to the structure as "wonderful" in a 1979 essay, praising the top in particular. His skyscraper design was then rebuilt as a model to be examined and evaluated by manufacturers. The majority of the building's plans were created on paper, and Jamil Smith utilized paper sheets to create some of the skyscraper's designs.
Jamil Smith mentioned that he intended the lobby to have a contemporary appearance while he was developing it. Jamil meticulously drew the colors on the model while using markers as colors to create the lobby. Plans to terminate the projects were established early on in their development. Notably, Malakai Watson ordered that the blueprints for a proposed skyscraper needs to be scrapped in March 1969 when he was "mad" and working on a different version of the structure. Jamil Smith then informed Malakai Watson that his version had already been finished by that point and that he would have to "wait a few years" if he wanted to discontinue the project. Following this, Malakai sued Robloxia City Building Company for more than $1 billion, but due to his inaction, the case was soon resolved with the firm prevailing and Malakai being required to pay at least half of his claims. Early on in the design process for the skyscraper's site, Ben Rodriguez had envisioned the towering structure being situated next to a river, but his plans were shelved. Jamil Smith opted not to move the project even though there were plans to move the area, even though it was close to at least a few towns, out of respect for Ben's wishes.
By January 1970, the original skyscraper's architecture had been finalized and it was prepared to begin construction. The change in floors was made in response to some of the people who wanted the building to aim to be an attraction for all of those who were in the city, a playground inside for kids of all ages, a number of appreciated eating establishments, and an entirely new appearance to the lobby, which had eleven escalators and four staircases. The final rendering now featured now 2,500 office accommodations, each of which can fit at least ten people in total with a desktop computer and a place to sit from the fourth floor to the hundredth floor. The mayor intended the building to be mostly utilized for offices, thus ideas to include an observation deck were abandoned when the skyscraper was first being considered in the 1950s. Jamil Smith originally intended for the skyscraper to have a small bank on the ground floor in order to attract more customers and increase the chance that cashiers would make a profit. Jamil also intended to add a shopping mall on the 55th to 60th floor, but producers worried that the building would become a marketing tool, so Jamil shelved the plan. However, he made the decision to include all of his earliest ideas once again into the building while creating the final form.
The original skyscraper is supported from the bottom to the top by more than 400 beams altogether. According to Jamil Smith, the beams would increase building safety and reduce the likelihood that it would collapse in the event of a calamity. Jamil made the decision to draft plans to include "something" that would safeguard the structure from collapse due to severe winds after Hurricane Jake, which slammed the city in 1969 during the construction of the tower and caused significant damage to certain tall buildings. One of the proposals called for the walls to be constructed using a new, more modern technique. From the inside, the walls would be made of glass, but the outside would be built of bricks strong enough to hold the structure in place. Jamil Smith collaborated with the other firm to build a wall out of glass and brick in an effort to come up with a plan to make the vision a reality. However, the finished product was a complete failure, and the ideas were abandoned. But Cassi Griffin, who was able to speak with Jamil about the project in March 1970, just weeks before the building's start, made the plans to use steel columns for the first time in the structure. The mayor set a strict deadline for the skyscraper's construction to start on March 29, 1970, which reportedly caused the building's overall final design to be hurried and unable to be completed. The majority of the steel columns were, at least, added to the sheet sheets.
Development
Groundbreaking
The Roblox Headquarters in 1971.
On March 29, 1970, the official groundbreaking for Roblox Headquarters was held. Ben Rodriguez, Milton Hayes, Nicole Evans, Tabitha O'Neill, Asaph Wilson, Emily Reid, and Boldizsar O'Doherty were some of the persons who received invitations to the ceremony. The groundbreaking event was also open to at least 500 more employees, among them Hamza Arnold, a well-known and wildly beloved worker in the area. Jamil Smith announced that he was prepared to start creating a "masterpiece of work" on the speaker during the event. In the middle of his speech, he said: "When I was a child and was admiring the big structures, I suddenly had an idea that I had never considered before: What if I could construct one? We are present to witness the gigantic construction, the start of a new era for the city, and the imminent construction of one of the tallest buildings in the world, precisely 30 years after the event took place".
The construction of the Roblox Headquarters started soon after the event was done when the workmen arrived.
Construction of original Roblox Headquarters
Official construction on the Roblox Headquarters began on April 2, 1970. At least 30 of the beams that would be added to the building's core were brought to the site during the early stages of construction. When the beams were prepared for installation, the workers would use tiny cranes to draw them out and arrange them in the appropriate locations. More than 2,000 workers—possibly as many as 3,000—were present in the region throughout the month of April to work on constructing the Roblox Headquarters and bringing more supplies to the location. A new building's foundation was being added at the time, and the workmen utilized little cranes to lift and set down foundation pieces that had been taken out of the earth nearby. The foundation was dug over the course of about a month, allowing workers time to design the new lobby and the building's parking lot. A second ceremony was organized to commemorate the start of the building itself a day after the first portion of the lobby arrived at the site on May 21, 1970. The first component was one of the very next group of components, and it was put up in front of the action. The initial beams were buried in the ground by Jamil Smith in the month of June 1970.
Workers were paid at least $20 per day throughout the development phase, which amounted to $130 to $150 each week. This was a substantial wage, and the majority of the funds used to construct the tower came from significant donations made by citizens of all over the nation. In order to provide speedier access for individuals who wished to visit the location, plans were made to build the first subway station inside the Roblox Headquarters in August 1970. A sizable contingent of individuals who desired a subway station eventually persuaded Jamil to agree to construct it, despite his initial refusal. The subway station's layout placed it beneath of the structure, serving trains on the (N), (Q), and (2) lines that would arrive at the station directly. By the end of September, the building's foundation had finally been laid, modest walls had been erected all around, and work on the lobby had started. The employees came up with the concept to locate the lobby right at the entrance to the building, with plans to install a brand-new roof at the base. The roof, which was intended to be constructed all the way around the structure, was about 3 feet tall. It introduced the beams, which were spaced 5 feet apart and finally formed a line. As of that point, Milton Hayes had announced on August 31 that the Roblox Headquarters will likely open somewhere in the following year or so. It was stated on October 21 that construction on the subway station had started and that the city's downtown area's lines would be stopped for at least a year or more. Jamil Smith claims that by January 1971, the building's major levels had already started to take shape and were beginning to be discernible from the surrounding cityscape.
At that point, the Roblox Headquarters was already 30% complete, and the majority of the construction personnel had moved to working on the building's primary logo. With Annis Henry acting as the primary design lead, the logo's creation got underway in December 1970. The second half's development got underway after the first half's completion in January 1971. By that time, the most of the items intended for the lobby had been relocated to another area, with the intention of moving them there after construction on the building's base was complete.

Roblox Headquarters
The bank at the bottom of the original Roblox Headquarters
Up until its collapse in December 2023, the original Roblox Headquarters, which was finished in 1972, stood at a height of about 1,000 feet, with a total height of about 1,100 feet (if including the observation deck at the very top). It was the tallest building in the city and the fourth-tallest building in the country from 1972 to 1995 at the time. An area of around 500 feet was covered by more than 10,000 beams in the original design. At the time, it had 2 feet tall by 1 feet broad windows across the whole structure made of a blue-colored glass. At the top, wherein the observation deck was situated, the glass grew more limited and comprised a total of 0.5 feet tall and 0.3 feet broad. The preliminary Roblox Headquarters formerly contained approximately 15,000 glass panes. A relatively small lobby and an underground parking area were the building's initial characteristics at its foundation. The lobby had to be demolished in 1990 to make room for the establishment of a bank. Since that point in time, the parking lot has been moved to a separate location that is connected to the main building, and the lobby has been relocated underground.

The skyscraper originally had 4 different components, all of which shrunk in size as they approached the pinnacle of the structure. Plans to at least have 3 distinct portions were created when it was being developed, however the concept was dropped. The tower has a total of 112 storeys, of which the offices were located on the third through the hundredth levels. These offices dealt with new employment, adding new individuals to new positions, presenting new money and jobs, and most significantly, highlighting the economy.
The bank at the bottom held a total of around $935,000,000,000 on the day of its demise, making it the building with the highest wealth ever. Additionally, the offices room earns $5,000 every day in earnings and pays out wages to employees once per week. At the time, these cheques typically totaled $50, but over time, they decreased to $30. A view from the building's fourth story was included in the lobby's features, which also included metal and glass. "Tourism" was the main topic on the last other levels, which ranged from the 100th to the 113th floor.
The Observation Deck
The observation deck from original Roblox Headquarters in 1999.
An observation deck that was constructed in 1971 was located on the 111th to 113th floors of the old Roblox Headquarters. At 7:00 a.m, the observation deck opened and shut at 11:50 p.m. Visitors were welcomed by the CEO when entering the main "second" lobby on the observation deck, starting on the 111th floor. Until they went up, the lobby served as a "waiting area" and a stopping sign, with all of its windows entirely covered in glass. Visitors may also view a few brief short films in the lobby that were centered on the construction of the structure and featured some video from as early as 1966. The lobby included a playground for young children to use before checking out, and one of the slides that the kids could use was characterized as "long, but fun" by the guests who used it.
A visitor could sit in the inadequate waiting area that was surrounded by brick walls but featured many different colors on the inside, from red to pink, and as an added bonus, a game called "The Finding of The Guest" would play if they had food they were or hadn't yet eaten. The missing Guest from the game had to be located; they had been lost for a very long period. People would need to search the space for a variety of items, including walking outdoors and the waiting area. Though occasionally, the guest may be found in the lobby, the waiting area was where they were most frequently discovered. Three years following the structure's debut, the second lobby was constructed, and the other elements were added between 1990 and 2015. The second lobby was the first of the building's two to have air conditioning.
A 10-minute documentary on the history of the city welcomed guests on the 112th level. To block the view of the city and make the chamber darker and more ominous as a consequence, the floor itself was entirely covered with black glass. Every 20 to 30 minutes, the short film was shown throughout the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. each day. The CEO, who plays a major role in the movie, gave an overview of the city's history. The Roblox Headquarters and its legacy became the primary subject of the movie's very last scene. Following the conclusion of the movie, the lights come back on, and the "Food Picker Trio" enters the room to distribute food to some of the audience members.
A dining room was present on the other side. It was referred to be a "small restaurant" and offered over 40 different meal varieties. Construction on the other side of the building began in 1979 and was completed a year later, in 1980. Originally, the 112th level was built only for the movies in the building's early years. Two more short movies, each running for two minutes and only being shown ten times every day, were also shown on the 112th level. On 113th floor, in which it is the main location of the observation deck, the visitors are greeted with a full view of the city.
The "Robloxia" Restaurants
The 114th floor of the structure known as "The Big Top" housed the "Robloxia" Restaurants. There were at least 10 neighborhood eateries at the very top of the structure, all of which had been added or put there between 1973 and 2019. Builder Brothers Pizza, Taco Blox, Luigi's Cafe & Restaurant, SizzleBurger, McBloxalds, Bambou Restaurant, Burger King, Lucky Luobese Food, Cheezburger World, and Pizza Planet were the eateries at the time of the assaults. People loved the cuisine when the first restaurants opened in 1973, and soon after that, plans were developed to launch other eateries. According to an agreement between the author and the business, McBloxalds said in 1990 that they would be relocating to the "Robloxia" Restaurants. Days before the year 1999 began, Taco Blox also announced that they would be closing nearly half of the eateries in the area due to financial difficulties. However, some of the more well-liked eateries remained open for a much longer period of time, including the restaurant at the Roblox headquarters. In 2000, it was reported that the eatery would close for significant renovations and reopen in the following year, or around 2002 to 2003. The "Robloxia" Restaurants' cuisine and drink quality have garnered high recognition as of December 8, 2023.
Roblox HQ II

The second structure in the complex is the Roblox Headquarters II, sometimes referred to as the original Roblox HQ II. Roblox HQ II was first constructed between 1973 and 1975, and opened on November 21, 1975. It was a 25-story office building. At the time in 2023, more than 500 employees were present throughout the day and the building mostly serves as office space. Additionally, the Roblox HQ II serves as a tiny observation deck for the other tower. In addition, there is a little shop in the main lobby where guests may purchase items like food, clothing, beverages, and other items. There is also a small restaurant where food is served to passersby. The building suffered damage from the initial attack explosion, but it ultimately collapsed, destroying the whole structure and killing 20 people who were attempting to flee the area.
Roblox HQ III
- Main article: Roblox HQ III
The third structure in the complex is sometimes referred to as the original Roblox HQ III or the Roblox Headquarters III. The original Roblox HQ III's construction started in 1982. It was finished on January 18, 1984, and opened on July 28 the same year. With a 62-story height, Roblox HQ III overtakes the main building as the fourth tallest structure in the complex. There is no observation deck at all and the structure doubles as a tiny restaurant. Additionally, the structure solely functions as an office building and is not intended for public use. Despite this, there is a restaurant inside the structure that specializes in serving cuisine, including hotdogs, rice, burgers, beans, orange rice, and other items. The restaurant had garnered good reviews from culinary reviewers, but the initial bomb partially destroyed the whole structure before it collapsed.
Roblox HQ IV
The fourth structure of the complex is Roblox HQ IV or Roblox Headquarters IV. The HQ IV's construction started on June 25, 1983 and was finished on August 29, 1986; However it was unavailable to the public for a year until October 26, 1987, when it opened with Roblox HQ V. It had a 30-story height. It was a studio apartment building in floor 15-30, and office areas at floors 2-30. During the 2023 attacks, all people escaped from the building after a arson attack before the structure collasped. As a result, the building had no fatalities, but had few injuries.
Roblox HQ V
The fifth structure of the complex is Roblox HQ V or Roblox Headquarters V. The structure started its construction on September 6, 1984 ,was finished on February 1, 1987, and opened on October 26 the same year. With a height of 68 stories, it was the third tallest building in the complex. It had a office all over the floors, and a restaurant with observation deck in floor 65. In the 2023 attacks, the building had 350 people inside before collapsing. Prior to the collapse, a bombing attacked occurred in floor 43 and floor 45, resulting 150 deaths. The building collapsed violently after 35 minutes from the bombing attack.
Roblox HQ VI
The sixth structure of the complex is Roblox HQ VI or Roblox Headquarters VI. The building started its construction on September 10, 1986 and finished on February 12, 1988. However, the building wasn't available to the public until August 10, 1989. It was a 22-story hotel building, which was right underneath the Roblox HQ I, III and VII. The building was destroyed by the debris of Roblox HQ I and III on December 10, 2023.
Roblox HQ VII
The seventh structure of the complex is Roblox HQ VII or Roblox Headquarters VII. It started construction on May 6, 1988 and finished on March 11, 1995, and opened on May 4 the same year. It was a 104-floor office building, with a restaursnt, observatry in the 98th floor, and a large obby in the 1st floor. It was the second tallest building in the complex. The building collasped violently by the debris of the Roblox HQ I and a bombing attack in the 68th floor on December 10, 2023. A shooting occured the same day in the lobby which caused 30 deaths. It was the tallest building after Roblox HQ I, which caused for it to be nicknamed as 'The real Roblox HQ II', or 'Roblox HQ's twin'.
Roblox HQ VIII
The eight and final structure of the compelx is Roblox HQ VIII or Roblox Headquarters VIII. Construction started on April 8, 1994 and finished on August 22, 1997, and opened on December 28 to the public the same year. It was a 12-floor department store and shopping mall. It was right underneath the Roblox HQ I and V. The building was crushed and wrecked by the debris of Roblox HQ I and V on December 10, 2023.

New Roblox Headquarters
The New Roblox Headquarters in 2030.
The New Roblox Headquarters, which replaced the original building, began construction in 2024 and was completed in 2029. It shares the distinction of being the tallest building in the city with the original building due to its extreme height of 1,400 feet, which is 400 feet higher than the previous structure. It is also among the top three tallest buildings in the nation and the tenth tallest building in the world due to its extreme length. Since the structure was so long, the majority of the attention had been directed to how tall it was and how it could stand. Like the original, it had a brand-new lobby that extended all the way to the top of the structure within. The lobby, on the other hand, was covered in more metal and vibrantly colored walls. In the course of the new building's construction, a foundation was also constructed and positioned in the middle. Visitors might see the foundation as a "small memorial" to the victims of the assaults as well as to all those who perished as a result of them. On the other side of the lobby, there is also a brand-new store whose primary goal is to remind customers of the individuals they know.
A monument has been erected in front of the New Roblox Headquarters in a small park close by. The monument was originally known as "The Golden Robloxian", but after the attacks and the building collapsed, which severely damaged the early form of the statue, plans were made to have the statue now be centered on commemorating the tower and its history. Once inside, the lobby offered a few minigames that are played three times daily. The game received accolades for having kid-friendly, entertaining stages.
The game "Where the Guest!?" was released to coincide with the inauguration of the new tower and it acts as a remake of the first one. A short video is playing on the TVs—there are four of them scattered across the lobby—where the CEO of the new building tells the tale of how the game was created and explains its significance to the structure. The original game, which was created all the way until manufacturing in 2028, was also available for guests to play. Glass windows surrounded the main lobby's exterior on all sides as well. The parking lot portion that was located underground was also destroyed in the collapse. A subway station that had been servicing the original lines had been rebuilt as well. The (N) line had been withdrawn due to a track upgrade to a different site, and the (B) line had been installed in its place.
At least seven different parts, all of which were stacked on top of one another, were now included in the design of the New Roblox Headquarters. The current height of the structure, which is around 130 storeys, is 17 levels higher than it was at its initial height. In addition, the bank is situated underground rather than at the base. The bank now offered ROBUX as a feature of the building; however, plans to employ them for the original structure, scheduled to be completed in 2024, were abandoned since the building was destroyed. The currency known as ROBUX acts as a "ticket" to the top.
Shopping Mall

A shopping center known simply as "The New Roblox Headquarters Mall" is located beneath the New Roblox Headquarters. More than 500 businesses made up the retail center, which holds the record for largest subterranean mall in history and acts as a "major checking point" for the structure. The construction of the retail center and the New Roblox Headquarters started in late 2024, but it took more than seven years, until May 2, 2030, for the mall to open.

The complex's second structure is called the New Roblox HQ II. With a total of 40 stories, it is the highest structure in the entire complex, just as the original structure, and it ranks as the 20th tallest structure in the entire city. The New Roblox HQ II is a modest visitation area for guests of the New Roblox Headquarters. Inside, there is a lobby where visitors can wait before ascending to the very top of the building, where they must have ROBUX with them in order to enter. A tiny observation deck located outside on the summit has a few upgrades over the original, the most significant of which is that it now has a better view. Guests could now look as far to the river near the city. Visitors could now see all the way to the river close to the city. Back in the lobby, there is a tiny restaurant that provides burgers and even rice as a bonus. Burger King is the major leading firm in this establishment. Critics have given the structure a favorable rating as of 2030. The structure is a replacement for the Roblox HQ II, which was damaged during the attacks.

History
1970s

The Roblox Headquarters first appeared on May 16, 1972, and it now forms a part of the city's skyline. More than 3,000 individuals visited or were in the area on one day in the month of June as a result of the Roblox Headquarters receiving a lot of attention in the first few weeks after it opened, from both the media and city residents. Even though the building's budget was close to 600 million dollars, making it the second-most expensive structure ever built by a city, in its first month of operation, the structure made back more than $900 million dollars, making it the highest and most profitable structure in history. At the time, most of the advertisements from the city emphasized "getting to the building," with some of the advertisements even referring to the structure as a "masterpiece of work." Then-President Builderman visited the Roblox Headquarters at that point in time, in 1973. He had heard of the building's ascent and had made the decision to go see it on its one anniversary. He handed the event's originator Jamil Smith $200,000, all of which was said to have gone to a number of the local hospitals.
The city's tourism industry began to boom in 1973, and one of the attractions was the Roblox headquarters, which at the time was widely regarded as the world's highest structure by most producers. In July of the same year, it was claimed that 5,000 people visited the building everyday. Tourism surged during the summer months of that year. 10,000 people from all across the city gathered to meet each other and enjoy the view of the show as the Roblox Headquarters presented its inaugural fireworks display in December as part of a Christmas celebration. The 30-minute performance started with music playing from the top of the structure, followed by the start of pyrotechnics, beginning at 9:00 p.m. and ending at 9:31 p.m. The event was well-received, but the majority of complaints centered on the heights of the fireworks, where witnesses claimed to have briefly seen some fireworks parts fall toward the ground and almost strike them. In addition, because of low wind and extremely high humidity, smoke from the top building covered some areas of the building for "at least 15 to 30 seconds." The Roblox Headquarters held its inaugural New Year's Eve celebration, with the fireworks starting at precisely midnight. Compared to the last event, this one garnered much better feedback.
A view of the building in 1987
The GH Company offered $2,000,000 in 1975 to purchase the Roblox Headquarters, but Jamil Smith declined.
1980s
The tourism industry had an enormous surge in popularity beginning in the early 1980s, and the Roblox Headquarters was one of the most well-liked tourist destinations at the period. The new building's windows were scheduled to be replaced in 1980, and Jamil noted that the windows needed to be cleaned since they had become excessively filthy. At the end of the first hour, more than 500 people had arrived on the first level and were starting to clean up the area. Due to the excessive size of the majority of the windows and the fact that there were more than 10,000 windows spread throughout the building, the entire structure had to be closed off from visitors and cleaned over the course of a full week. One of the employees said they only managed to clean at least "200" windows on the first day and was concerned they wouldn't be able to meet the deadline. The same year, it was revealed that the president of the Roblox City Building Company will become the first CEO of the Roblox Headquarters, which name was at the time being discussed as perhaps being changed from Roblox HQ to something much, much more sophisticated.
Jamil came up with the concept in 1981 to upgrade the building's main entrance by adding a new door. Planning for the door started the next month, and construction on it started a few weeks later. It was completed by June of that same year. Later, in 1982, Aatami Richardson, a building company producer, gave Jamil the task of completing work on some items that were planned for both the building and the offices while Jamil was given the task of getting the entire building by himself. Jamil would serve as the building's principal leader. However, Jamil resisted once again. As a result, Aatami gave up on becoming CEO; instead, he would eventually serve as CEO in later years. The building was going to have a short video about how it was created the first time and why its heritage is important for the community, and plans for this were being developed from June to August of 1983. The primary "second" lobby for the viewing deck was also being planned at this time. Jamil said in an essay for the New Blocker Times that he wished to design something to prevent "people from getting bored" easily.
The main lobby was under construction beginning in November 1983. In the same year, work had also started on the Roblox HQ II, however planning had not yet been completed and construction had actually started on the building in June. This delay had caused the building's production to be put on hold for many months. Due to weather-related concerns, employees were forced to work indoors; the only occasions when it would have been beneficial to work outside were when the weather was favorable. When a strong winterstorm hit the city in January 1984, it severely damaged the windows that had been installed, with the majority of them being smashed by the force of the storm. Damages from the storm, which also affected a few additional office rooms and the planned lobby, were estimated to be as high as $900,000,000 when it passed. In spite of this, Jamil made the payment, and after a few months the windows had been replaced. On July 29, 1984, the primary "second" lobby officially opened for business. The opening of a second lobby caused tourism to soar once more in popularity.
Around 1985, plans for a third building were drafted. Numerous businesses attempted to convince Jamil to allow them to purchase the main building at the same time, but Jamil steadfastly refused. The Building Robloxia Uptown business, a business that eventually acquired the building for more over $2 billion dollars in 1986, modified several of the restrictions for the employees as a result. Amber Marshall received the CEO position in the same year, making her the second woman to hold the position as of December 2023. The same years saw the start of Roblox HQ III's construction, which at the time was one of the most challenging. projects that workers had to do. Robloxia City Building Company was retained to serve as the project's primary lead in addition to the building's construction. A thunderstorm that hit the roof of the main structure in May 1978 resulted in at least 25 injuries. Three persons were killed and several more were injured when a group of individuals bombed the Roblox Headquarters on one of its sides in June 1988. The attack also damaged the building's foundation. Jamil initially had the opportunity to hold the position of CEO in December 1989.
1990s

The "last ever" restaurants in the "Robloxia" eatery will open on January 3, 1990, according to a statement from Robloxia City Building Company. Over the course of the 1990s, the structure underwent a number of changes. When the second and third buildings were completed, the building's rapid growth in visitors immediately came to a halt, with almost 1,000 fewer visitors than in the 1980s. For the main "second" lobby, a short movie was once more intended to be released in 1991. Visitors could view the behind-the-scenes work that was being done on the short film while it was being produced. Eventually, the short video was finished, and instead of focusing on the architecture, it featured history of the city. Plans to add a brand-new feature to the main lobby's TV screen were planned for the same year, and it was intended to be the first time that TV would be prominently displayed there. At that time, the lobby had no screens, thus the only option for guests to learn more about the structure was to watch the little video they had created. Four more TV displays were eventually put to either side of the lobby by December of the same year. A total of almost $4,000 was spent on the creation of the displays, each of which cost at least $900.
The Roblox Headquarters initially appeared in a film called "The Evil Sky" in 1992. A large-scale struggle between the "sky" and the "ground" is depicted in one of the scenes, and the building is fully destroyed and destroyed throughout the course of the war. The movie has been known as the one that foresees the attacks ever since the assaults, which occurred then. The movie was a huge hit when it first came out and ended up being among the top earners for the year. The structure gains notoriety for the third time after struggling to draw in more people. The Roblox Street organization replaced the Roblox Headquarters as the tallest building in the city in 1993. However, once the building was given a new 100-foot expansion to the top, it once again took the title of being the city's highest building. The structure actually lost its claim as the tallest building as a result of a contradictory response from the general public. It was "not about it" being tall, according to Jamil, but rather about the building's history and how it affected the city.
Roblox was awarded the position of CEO in 1994, and upon his death in 2023, he became the building's longest-serving CEO. The Robloxia City Building Company declared in 1995 that the construction of more windows would be occurring soon. Plans for improvements to the observation deck's new-brand feature had been revealed around the same time. One of the many ideas put forward was to build a playground where youngsters could play. Jacob Cox, a famous park developer, worried that his plan wouldn't work when creating the design for the playground, but he persisted nevertheless. Later, planning for the playground started in November 1995, and at that time, a different feature—creating a brand-new game for the lobby—was also planned, but ideas were scrapped soon after. However, subsequent plans were made public and it was announced that a new game named "The Finding of The Guest" would be introduced. The game's construction began, and on April 4, 1996, it was initially made available. The crew was still attempting to come up with fresh concepts for the game when it was originally announced during the ceremony that it was still in production, but it would only be operating during the daytime rather than at night.
The Roblox Headquarters won the prize for best building in the world in 1997. The building was closely policed in 1998 after an incident in the city that happened close by the structure's location resulted in the deaths of ten people. The skyscraper said that more fireworks will be released during its New Year's Eve fireworks display in honor of the coming of the year 2000 and the fact that it was the start of a new millennium.
2000s
The Roblox Headquarters as shown in 2002.
The new millennium got off to a fast start. For the first time in a long time, it was reported that Roblox Headquarters would be receiving new windows to ring in the new year and give the building a much more fashionable appearance starting in 2000. Implementing on the new windows started on March 30, 2000, and had been finished by April, during which time the building as a whole was shut down for more than a month. Over 4,000 visitors came to the building's site over the course of more than a week after its inaugural inauguration, bringing the building's total daily visits to 900. At the time, there were plans to redesign the foyer of the Roblox Headquarters, however those ideas were scrapped. Jamil Smith died on February 5, 2001, from a disease he had been fighting for at least a few years. A few weeks before to his passing, Jamil promised that, in the event of his death, they would work to make the structure stronger and better than ever. Even before he was about to died, he had numerous designs for a fresh design for the structure at the time. The Robloxia City Building Company announced shortly after his passing that a memorial will be built in his honor. Jamil's post-funeral was held there on February 29.
As a gesture to pay tribute to Jamil and preserve the building's history after his passing, CEO Roblox revealed intentions to create a new monument for him. The new statue's construction was scheduled to begin on April 7, 2001, and by June it had been finished and transported to the top of the structure. Days after the September 11th attacks, the Roblox headquarters put on a light show in which the red, blue, and white colors from the flag were prominently shown. The movie's production started in December 2002 and was completed in March 2023. According to reports from 2004, the GH Company will be formally purchasing the structure for a total of $1 billion, making it the first business after The Building Robloxia Uptown to own the location. For the second firm, the ground was turned over to the GH firm after being let go by the first company. The corporation didn't acquire the building for more than 30 years. It was announced that it will stage its inaugural Christmas fireworks show starting in 2005. The event was scheduled to start each Friday during the month of December.
A thunderstorm about to hit the city in 2010 (the Roblox Headquarters is seen in the middle).
The company would be releasing its first website that year, according to CEO Roblox. 2006 saw the launch of the website. One person was killed and eight others were injured in a mass shooting that took place close to the Roblox headquarters five days later. The incident is the first gunshot and assault since 1988. Roblox said that they will be hiring extra police to guard the facility and installing more cameras inside and around it as a direct response to the shooting. The process of adding the cameras began in June 2006 and was completed in July. The foyer of Roblox Headquarters was renovated in 2007 for the full month of August in order to give it a much more contemporary appearance, as had been intended since the early 2000s. The new lobby's design received high accolades when it finally debuted in November 2007, two months later than anticipated. The CEO of Roblox hosted the annual Stockholder event in December 2008 and 2009, which continued until 2022.
2010s to 2023
A second redesign of the Roblox Headquarters' foyer and doors was announced for January 2010 according to reports. The redesign of the foyer and its doors was planned to be completed by the end of the month, but construction didn't start until May 2010. Before the structure was reopened on October 1, 2010, construction on both portions of the structure had been finished by September. A rainstorm that hit the city on November 29, 2010, inflicted damage to the lobby in certain places. A little portion of the deck fell to the ground as a result of a few severe wind gusts shattering the top windows and smashing them. Roblox said after the damage that he and his crew would reconstruct the top once more, and work on it started in December, forcing the building to close for the second time in a succession for the first time in a month, when previous closures had occurred over a long period of time. Most of the windows and the damaged top's damaged top had been repaired by the start of 2011. Roblox initially intended to lead both structures as the major figurehead in the same year, but subsequently opted against it.
Roblox Headquarters announced that they would throw a fireworks display in honor of those who lost their lives in the attacks on September 11, 2012, the 11th anniversary of the tragedy. People who believed that their first intentions were little more than a laser display strongly opposed the notion. The fireworks display nonetheless took place in spite of this. Parts of Hurricane Sandy slammed the city in November 2012, resulting in significant flooding. The foyer was one of the areas that the storm severely flooded. The structure had been shut down three times since 2010, totaling over two years, by January 2013. It was announced in 2014 that the song will be played in the lobby for the very first time. Happy Day in ROBLOXia, O Bloxnada, Different Heaven & EH!DE - My Heart, I Love You, Bloxburg Valley, and Farewell to the Raslavianka were among the songs chosen on the first day. In 2017, more music, such as the Second Robloxian Anthem, was added to the lobby's music playing. The first funeral for those slain in the assaults was held at the Roblox Headquarters in 2015 as a response to the events in Paris. Following a terrible mass shooting in Robloxia in February 2016 that left over 90 people dead and over 40 people injured, the Roblox Headquarters held a performance to honor those who perished. The American flag was then hoisted to the top and remained there till the end of the year.
There were reportedly intentions to construct a fourth building to the complex in August 2017, however those plans were later abandoned. The Roblox Headquarters stated in December 2019 that, rather than the complex, they will be staging a massive fireworks display to ring in the new decade. Plans suggested that a fourth building will be added to the complex in 2022. Two months before the building was destroyed, in October 2023, Roblox said they were preparing for the fourth structure.
Annual events
Holiday events
Christmas event
A Christmas-themed fireworks performance was held every year on December 24 starting in 1973; mainly 2005 and ending in 2022. Similar to the spectacle on New Year's Eve, the fireworks are blasted 40 minutes as opposed to 30 minutes.
New Year's Eve event
The structure has been the location of a New Year's Eve celebration since 1973. At least 30 minutes after the ceremony started, fireworks would be shot from the building, signaling that 30 minutes had passed and the new year was drawing near. The celebration would start at roughly 9:00 p.m. There would be a countdown shown at the top and bottom of the building with around one minute left till the new year. A big display of fireworks is set off from the skyscraper as soon as the clock strikes midnight on January 1 to entertain the crowd. Plans to add more fireworks to the complex to ring in the year 1991 were made in 1989, but they weren't installed until 1993. This was despite the fact that the plans had been in place for several years following the introduction of the two buildings. When that happened, a number of nearby pyrotechnics were joined to other ones that weren't attached to the structure.
People have several concerns with the event over the years, with the majority of the problems being caused by the thick smoke. In 1998, the entire building was enveloped in smoke for more than five minutes, part of the light smoke even reaching the ground, as a result of heavy rain and several fireworks set off close to the entire structure. A number of times, most notably in 2001, 2003, 2009, 2010, 2015, 2018, 2021, 2022, and even 2023, an incidence when a person was struck by some fireworks took place. Before the structure was destroyed in December 2023, the final event took place between December 31, 2022 and January 1, 2023. Plans to produce a fireworks display that would have been far superior to the competition were being developed before to the collapse, but they were abandoned as a result.
The inaugural new year's celebration held at the New Roblox Headquarters took place in 2030, making it the venue's first gathering since 2023.
Incidents and attacks
1988 bombing
- Main article: 1988 bombing of Roblox Headquarters
On June 22, 1988, Thomas Evans approached one of the building's sides. A short while later, a bomb he was holding detonated, causing the walls to collapse on the back of the building and injuring Thomas and dozens of others. Three employees, David Medina, Harry Morgan and Nile Hudson, all male were also killed in the explosion. Thomas was subsequently discovered at a neighboring park, where he was promptly arrested. One of the first attacks on the structure had been the bombing, and Thomas was eventually sentenced to life in jail. Later it was discovered that he disliked the city and intended to destroy it by bringing the skyscraper down. The scheme has received several accolades for being the "funniest and stupidest" in history.
2006 shooting
- Main article: 2006 Roblox Headquarters shooting
On January 6, 2006, an unidentified person, who was holding a pistol in his hand, fatally shot one employee outside the building while wounding eight others by sending bullets through a window. All of the victims received medical attention and were released from the hospital within two days. The unidentified person who started the firing fled the scene and was never seen again. He was the second-most sought person in the city according to police after the event. The lone victim passed away at least a day after the incident.
2008 robbery
A robbery occurred on July 2, 2008. Henry Mason, the thief, struck a cashier in the face and fled upstairs during the initial phases of the heist. He took $1,000,000 in total before being apprehended. Four at least sustained injuries.
2015 fire
A fire started on the building's 64th story on June 5, 2015. Firefighters eventually tackled the blaze fast and were able to put it out in at least an hour. There was at least one injury recorded.
Destruction
On December 10, 2023, the three individuals after approaching the structure, Easton Jackson, Alex Paul, and Hudson began firing at bystanders. At least ten people died and 20 people were injured as a consequence of this. At that moment, Easton grabbed a woman and threw her into the backroom, where they were keeping her prisoner. The CEO of Roblox, who was hiding throughout the mass shooting in a room, was also assassinated by the group. A bomb that Easton had thrown hit the ground at precisely 11:43 p.m. RST, 17 minutes before midnight, and shortly after that, it exploded, sending forth a boom that measured 350,000 psi, making it the second-largest blast ever produced by a human since 1901. An earthquake of between 3 and 4 on the Richter scale was later documented to have occurred in and around the city as a result of the explosion, which had an explosive radius of up to 1,200 feet—even higher than the structure itself. The majority of the explosion site was blanketed by a thick cloud of black smoke after the explosion subsided, with mild smoke even reaching the nearby river. Buildings, including Roblox HQ II and Roblox HQ III, all of which had walls that were broken and damaged, were destroyed as a result of the explosion, which sent individuals flying more than 200 feet in the air and killed at least 43 people in total.
The explosion immediately caused significant damage to Roblox Headquarters. Windows in the main lobby were extensively broken, with the majority of them breaking and shattering, sending glass to the ground. Nine persons were present in the lobby at the time; one of them perished in the explosion. After the explosion, smoke started to flood into the lobby and climb all the way to the top of the structure. Due to the intense smoke, all of the lights from the first to the fifty floors were turned out at midnight. Prior to the building collapsing, several occupants began noticing indicators of structural weakness brought on by the intense fire, which by that point had charred 10% of the structure. Even though they were entirely made of metal, the fire caused the columns to start to break. A few minutes later, the major columns guarding the lobby began to give way. As a result, the lobby experienced massive waves of smoke and dust. The lobby crumbled first a few seconds later. On December 11, 2023, at about 12:07 in the morning, the first side of the structure began to fall, sending smoke and dust flying. It was reported that inside, most of the people claimed to have seen floors collapsing on one another, despite their being no knowledge of what actually occurred within the building during the collapse stage. When a big sheif fell squarely on one of the people and killed him, just before the building collapsed.
The day after the collapse on December 11, 2023.
The majority of the structure's unharmed contents fell and moved to the right as the first side of the building started to shift to the right. The entire Roblox Headquarters started to fall apart in a matter of seconds. The majority of the structure had collapsed to the ground in about 9 seconds. Debris from the main Roblox Headquarters building fell to the top of the buildings as it collapsed, creating enormous craters. The top of the structure was completely flung to the right, putting the buildings in a far more dangerous position. Additionally, during the collapse stage, the Roblox HQ II suffered significant damage as strong winds and debris dropped directly to the earth, with most of them hitting on top, shattering windows and damaging walls. For Roblox HQ III, the structure sustained less, but still significant, harm. The gust entirely passed through the structure because the smoke was moving too quickly. More than 70 individuals who were still trapped on the structure at the time died, and as of 2025, 65 of the 70 victims have not been recovered. On the ground, the majority of the 141 fatalities and more over 500 injuries were caused by the dense smoke.
Smaller buildings suffered the most damage since the majority of them collapsed together with the larger one owing to the powerful debris from the larger structure that was collapsing. Massive smoke from the collapse swept around the city and caused several TV broadcasts to be interrupted on the screens. Popular TV program The Local Robloxia City News (TLRCN) was taken off the air shortly after the structure collapsed at around 12:09 a.m. RST.
Aftermath and clean-up
Major police and fire personnel were on the spot the day after the fall to aid those hurt in the aftermaths. At least a thousand people arrived in the city to assist the injured up until the assailants were murdered on the afternoon of December 12, 2023. On the day of the collapse, then-mayor Paris Butler assured the media that they would be collaborating with the FBI and practically every single local law enforcement agency in the nation to assist in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the collapse and the harm they had caused. The following day, a significant cleanup, rescue, and recovery effort got under way, with more than 500 personnel trying to clear up the whole area. They had to carry the plan since several buildings had been destroyed and there was too much rubble to be moved, and one of the damaged buildings had given off strong indications that it may collapse. By the evening of December 14, the little building that was close to the gas station crumbled to the ground, at least injuring two employees. It took more than eight months for the real clean-up process to be completed; it started in January and finished in June.
Despite the fact that more than 141 people were murdered, it was first believed that everyone who was still alive after the bomb burst died in the building collapse. However, this was subsequently shown to be untrue when two persons were discovered to be alive underneath the structure. By 2025, they had finally fully recovered. Before the two persons were discovered, one person was trapped under the structure for more than ten hours, but by the time rescuers located him, he had already passed away from exposure to the intense debris. In the early hours of December 11, it was reported that 60 people had perished as a result of both the bombing and the collapse, but by the end, the death toll had increased to more than 130. On Twitter, the official ROBLOX Headquarters account announced the same day that Roblox, the founder and CEO of the firm, had gone away. The sole words in the primary text over the photo were "Rest in Power, My Friend..." The tweet was the second most viewed tweet of the year and had over 4.0 million likes. The site was finally restored by August 2024, however despite this, certain structures still showed the majority of the damage.
