Keysota is a state north of Rossota and west of Mulica renowned for its prolific amount of tornadoes forming in the state alone. Because of this, many storm chasers like this state because it allows them to chase storms every day rather than waiting for a day of "good" weather. The state has many cities and is dependent predominantly on agriculture, as evidenced by the fact that many places of the state are simply plantations. The top three largest cities in Keysota are: Hibbing (3rd), Viroqua (2nd) and Hazelton (1st).

The state was founded in 1984, but because of unknown reasons, the state began to have strange weather, such as a temperature of 227 degrees Fahrenheit (it became known as the 227 incident) and a climate that is conducive to the formation of tornadoes throughout the year.

The state has three counties: Beltrami County, Wadena County and Cherokee County (2020). In 2029, Keysota decided to give Cherokee County back to Rossota, and annexed Polk, Itasca and Kanabec Counties. It even has a state forest and a park (latter in Wadena) known simply as Wadena State Park. It has many lakes and a big river, the Wenatchee River, as well as many highways. The state is considered a good but a dangerous place to live because of the tornadoes.

The state's only dealership offers vehicles that are also sold in Berkeley County and Greenville.

Due to the 2029 Keysota tornado outbreak (in fact, tornado outbreaks occur in Keysota all the time, but only historically significant ones get an article in Robloxiapedia), the Great Flood of 2029, and 2030 being the coldest Keysotan winter in recorded Keysotan history (with averages up to 20 degrees below normal (relative the original North Central Rossota climate norms) near the northern half of the state), the population fell drastically. In 2035, the state population would increase to 1 million for the first time in recorded state history.

Climate

Keysota experiences temperature extremes characteristic of its very strange climate, with extremely warm and moist winters and extremely warm and moist summers. Indeed, if the climate was not strange, Rossota would have cooler winters. Because of this, Keysota's climate always resembles summer in North Central Rossota. It is unknown what is the lowest temperature recorded in Keysota, but it is known that the highest was 227°F (108 °C) at every city in Keysota on some day in 1984. Meteorological events include rain, thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, and high-velocity downbursts. Snow, blizzards, and derechos never occur in Keysota, implying that the lowest temperature recorded in Keysota might be above 32°F (0 °C). The growing season is 365 days.

Because of Keysota's extremely warm and moist conditions, there is extreme severe-weather potential going on Keysota. Because of the rainfall, Keysota's soil is always very fertile. On average, 95% of storms within the state will end up producing some sort of severe weather. Keysota averages 500 tornadoes over May to September. The average ratings of tornados spawned from these storms vary greatly. While many tornadoes in the state are small drop-dusters, just as many are as powerful as the 2029 Hazelton Tornado.

Because Keysota's climate have such esoteric conditions, it is immune from climate change and global warming. However, strange climate in the state has affected natural habitats and many species that live in them. For example, the lakes' water is implied to be controlled by the climate, which affects fish populations. As an example, trout tend to die in Keysota whenever the temperature reaches above a threshold, but bass will also tend to die whenever the temperature reaches below a threshold.

Economy

Keysota's economy is primarily based on tourism, which began in 1990 but gained momentum in 1992 after one of the best tornado chases started in Syre and moved south. Tourism in Keysota is mainly driven by chasing the frequent storms and tornadoes that occur there, and by fishing in the various bodies of water. In addition, there is revenue from exports, and tolls generate significant income due to the Robloxia flow to and from Bloxanada. The main cities where tourists stay are the larger Hazelton and Hibbing, and also Prior Lake due to its central location.

The state also earns a lot of profit from agriculture, possessing almost no livestock farms; most farms are agricultural, producing mainly: soybeans, corn, sugar beets, spring wheat, canola, as well as vegetables such as potatoes, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and pumpkins. Many Keysota residents own rural property in the state, almost 32.4% according to a survey conducted in 2024. The state benefits from the fact that the Fertile Period never ends, not even in winter.

Fauna and Flora

Almost no animals inhabit Keysota due to extensive deforestation, but in non-deforested areas and nature reserves, one can find mainly gray wolves, moose, black bears, deer, beavers, and a wide variety of birds such as the peregrine falcon, as well as several species of fish, such as the walleye.

Keysota's flora consists of plains with scattered scrubland and trees, a mixture of evergreen and deciduous conifers adapted to the cold climate, notably pines, firs, sugar maples, lindens, oaks, and poplars.

Sports

Keysota doesn't have much of a sports culture due to the difficulty of organizing them because of the climate, tornadoes, and the organization of the cities in the state. There are two soccer fields in Hazelton, where amateur teams usually play, and two more in Viroqua. Besides Hibbing, Keysota doesn't have any professional American football or basketball teams, only one professional soccer team, the Hibbing F.A. (Hibbing Football Association), which, due to the always unfavorable wind conditions in Hibbing, usually plays in the neighboring state of Rossota.

History

Substate Part 1 (1984 - 2000)

In the year 1984, three Robloxians from Rossota, Ben Cherokee, Louis Wadena and Jake Beltrami. They created a substate not officially recognized by the Robloxian government, whose name was Keysota, the state had a small area and was fertile for cultivation, thus, the first city was founded, along with Wadena County, was Cannoy (modern-day Hazelton). However, little did the Robloxians know that Willzuh and Siryzm were creating some sort of weather modification weapon that would modify the weather, and thus, the climate on Keysota.

The first inhabitants arrived in the city. In 1985, two more cities, Viroqua and Niville (Hibbing), were created along with Beltrami and Cherokee counties. The counties were named after the founders of the state, which reached its first population of 8,493 in 1986, the year in which the first significant tornado occurred in Keysota, the 1986 Niville Tornado, which started in present-day Prior Lake and reached its peak in present-day Hibbing, which was later revealed to be one of the side effects of the weather modification weapon. So, the governors had to take action and reinforced the cities. Another strong tornado (EF4) occurred in Viroqua in 1987.

Keysota adopted an economy focused on agriculture from 1988 onwards, but as more and more tornadoes occurred in the area, storm chasers boosted tourism by staying for days or weeks in order to profit as much as possible, since about one tornado occurred per day. In 1990, Keysota experienced a population and economic boom, allowing the construction of several new cities, such as Starbuck, Prior Lake and other current cities. The state had already recorded 346 tornadoes, being among the top 3 states in Robloxia with the most tornadoes, but none of these statistics were official, as it was a substate. In 1992, Keysota held the 1992 Storm Chaser festival, the first edition of the event, which is still held today.

In 1993, Keysota began to grow wheat and beans, making a living from exports. From 1994 to 1996, the highest number of tornadoes in Keysota history was recorded, with 534 tornadoes. The state suffered extensive damage, but Governor Jim Stone Sr. managed to avoid panic and quickly repaired the damage, as Keysota builders are known for their speed and agility. However, Willzuh and Siryzm were not caught for modifying the weather. In 1997, some Rossota residents began to recognize Keysota's independence. Niville was renamed Hibbing, and Cannoy was renamed Hazelton, and West Viroqua was created as a satellite city of Viroqua. In 1999, a small, weak EF0 knocked down a power tower, causing power outages and Wi-Fi outages for 2/3 of the Keysotan population.

Substate Part 2 (2000-2024)

In 2001, Keysota began to want to be recognized as a state, so several protests began to spread throughout Keysota, mainly by HIbbing, having an aggressive response from the Rossotan authorities. In 2002, the current governor (Willzuh) and vice-governor (Siryzm) were elected. Their term was later considered the best in the history of Keysota. In 2003, the state broke the record of 1,300 tornadoes, and a lack of water caused drought, damaging agriculture. The damage was less because the storms naturally irrigated the plants. The current administration made a quick reaction, taking the state of Keysota out of that situation in 2004. In 2005, some small towns were founded, such as Funkley, to house new residents who did not want to live in the population centers. In 2006, Willzuh issued an evacuation alert for Helma due to an accident with nuclear materials coming from the mine. local, some people were injured and 1 died, but almost all of Helma's residents were relocated to nearby cities.

In 2007, the state's population reached 100,234, with many of them being storm chasers who decided to permanently reside in the substate. In 2009, the state experienced 1,700 tornadoes, the strongest being a repeat of the 1986 Niville Tornado down to the path of the tornado. It became an EF5 with winds of nearly 310 MPH.

In 2011, preparations were started for the twentieth edition of the Storm Chaser festival, but the chosen location, near Syre, was hit by a tornado, so the festival was relocated to Starbuck. Held in 2012, it featured displays of trucks and Dominators, concerts and lots of food, in addition to the first tornado hunting simulator ever created. An EF2 formed at the site and destroyed everything, but did not injure or kill anyone, the storm chasers present pasted photos they took of this tornado on a mural that was made available at the 2022 edition. In 2014, the state's GDP reached its record, 647.2 Billion Robux. In 2015, the state's GDP dropped. In 2016, half of the citizens of Rossota approved the independence of Keysota. Movements supporting the recognition of Keysota as a independent state from Rossota also emerged in Rowia and South and North Dabloxa. From 2017 to 2024, Keysota tried to be independent from Rossota several times times, until in 2024, former President Builderman authorized the separation, and Keysota would become independent.

As A Independent State

Domination by Coeptus II and revolt of the inhabitants

Protesters see destroyed cars; the protest was interrupted due to an EF3 tornado

In late October 2024, during the Battle of Bloxifornia (or in Coeptus II's term: Operation Swung South, named after the fact it forced Donald Trumpblox states to vote against Donald Trumpblox), the CSR army was trying to claim Keysota for the first time. However, bad weather got in the way, so, after an EF3 tornado disappeared, Coeptus II went to Keysota and planted a Coffee-Stained Republic flag at the border, announcing silently that it was captured. This became the easiest victory for CSR as severe weather cancelled a retaliatory attack.

The citizens, mostly supporters of Mason Scorpio Smith, became angry and began to protest. The CSR refused to secede control of Keysota and decided to put 322 Robloxians in prison despite Coeptus II's earlier promise of providing them community service and fines for violations. chikorita152e was also seen during that time and decided to fine them instead.

Eventually, on November 2024, chikorita152e removed Coeptus II from the elections after chikorita152e decided to give Historic Downtown Bloxburg to Coeptus II. The remaining states were also given back to Robloxia and chikorita152e made sure Coeptus II would never start a war again unless his Coffee Stain Studios counterpart owns another Roblox game.

On December 24, 2024, the weather modification weapon by Willzuh and Siryzm malfunctioned. Due to the malfunction, Keysota had snow for the first time in recorded meteorological history dating back to 1984, as well as temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius) for the first time in recorded meteorological history. It also stifled convection to the point where convection was virtually nonexistent, and as such, there were no tornadoes for the first time in meteorological history.

On an unknown date, but the year is known to be 2025, the state expanded by 68.75 square miles.

Recognition

Some protested the fact that Keysota should be a sub-state in Rossota, but nothing was done to get sub-state recognition. Keysota became an officially recognized state later. In 2029, some protests took place in Wadena because the police took too long to evacuate the city in 2029 because of a tornado, even though no one died during the event.

Curiosity

  • Keysota is the second state with the most tornado occurrences in Robloxia, already having 2493 of them, the majority being EF0 or EF1, second only to Bloxas, with 2847 tornadoes
  • The sixth largest convenience store in the country is located in Keysota, being a Willmart in Hazelton.
