Joel Valentine is a sound designer and sound editor, known for mostly Hanna-Barbera/Cartoon Network Studios projects, and formerly specializing in special sound effects for movies and mixing for English-dubbed anime.

He created Twenty-First Century Entertainment in the 1990s; it is unknown if that company folded into Hacienda Post in 2011, after the end of Sym-Bionic Titan. Joel also created The Producer's Sound Effects Library (PSEL), The Library of the Industry and America's Home Video Library, which may be used by Hacienda Post, Advantage Audio, and Skywalker Sound.

Joel was the teacher to Jeff Hutchins, who assisted Joel on The Pirates of Dark Water Season 3, did FX editorial on 2 Stupid Dogs/Super Secret Secret Squirrel, and owns copies of The Producer's Sound Effects Library and Joel's ADAP library in a .wav format.

Joel's sound design is frequently associated with the works of Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter's Laboratory, Samurai Jack, Sym-Bionic Titan, Primal (2019 TV Series)) and Craig McCracken (The Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Wander Over Yonder (season 2 only), Kid Cosmic), as he is basically their go-to ever since 2 Stupid Dogs. As such, many of their shows carry a similar identity in terms of sound design, sharing much of the same general sound effects. Aside from that, Joel has been called upon to do sound work for non-Genndy/Craig productions, generally for the pilots of various shows such as Whatever Happened to... Robot Jones?, Chowder, Foe Paws, Welcome to the Wackamo and various What a Cartoon! shorts. (notably 'Larry & Steve', 'Buy One, Get One Free' and 'Gramps'.)

NOTE: Do not create a page for the other PSEL SFX listed until you've access to the booklet/index included with that library. My (BigIdeas70258) copy of PSEL didn't include the booklet/index, and certain CDs were too old/obscure for Windows Media Player in ripping to recognize those CDs/track names.

Joel tends to use mostly Hanna-Barbera Sound Effects Library & Warner Bros. Sound Effects Library (like, 60% H-B, 40% WB), along with The Premiere Edition Volume 1, The General Series 6000 Sound Effects Library and Universal Studios Sound Effects Library. He infrequently uses some Cartoon Trax Volume 1/Disney sound effects (as well as Disney - SMALL BONK) in most cartoon projects, but the pilot to Chowder, "The Froggy Apple Crumple Thumpkin" is one of few exclusions.
