Harry Stone (born June 9, 1972) is a film director, animator, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the comedy Technology at Rise (2010) and the musical fantasy Roblox: The Movie (2026), the former being his directorial debut and the latter his best-performing film; both were critical and commercial successes that received numerous accolades. He also directed and wrote the horror film Overnight (2022), as well as Pinewood Core (2025).

Stone also worked on other notable productions, including RSCP (1995–1998), The Anna Hottenmeyer's Show (1997–present) and Robloxians (2013–2026).

Early life and education

Harry Stone was born on June 9, 1972 at Summer Springs Medical Center in the Sacramento Bay Area of Santa Clarax County, Bloxburg Valley. His mother, Lydia Atkinson (1938–2025), was born in Sea County, North Bloxifornia, while his father Liam Anderson was born in Dorset County, Bloxland. Both parents is of English descents. Liam became interested in musicals after writing several songs inspired by his childhood in high school. He then directed his school's musicals, The Book and Into the City. He moved to the United States in 1968, where he meet Lydia at his workplace, before getting married the following year. Harry is a single child in the family.

Originally living in St. Blox Parish, Bloxuisiana for the first three years of his life, Lydia Atkinson and Liam Anderson relocated to San Bloxington, where he spent the rest of his life. He enrolled in Bayshore Academy as a student from the first to fifth grade. During his time at school, Stone became interested in musicals, inspired by Disney films and his father, who performed his songs for him before bedtime. Stone attended Palm Valley School of Fine Arts from ninth to twelfth grade, where he worked on school projects and directed film and television productions for his high school. Stone met his future wife, Jessica Robertson, while working on the school's musical The Classrooms and the Students. Students described the two as "friendly" and "affectionate". After graduation, Stone and Jessica began dating. Stone had intended to stay with Jessica to spend time with her, but instead decided to focus on productions and directing them, enrolling at San Bloxington State University. He also began to gain experience in animation, and his style was inspired by action and comedic films, alongside actors such as Timothy Sr. After watching A Season of Cold (1991), Harry expressed interest in developing horror films, but eventually shifted toward creating musicals.

Career

Animation

Harry Stone was accepted to work at an animation studio for Universal Pictures productions in December 2007, and he began working as an animator the following month, in January 2008. For the first few months, Stone assisted in animating several scenes for the comedy film Alive (2008), but he was not credited. Later that year, Stone was invited to work as a key animator on the title character Bobo for the animated musical film Bobo the Friendly Clown (2009). He started developing and animating Bobo in December 2008. However, due to the film's early release in August of next year, Stone was forced to work long hours, almost quitting his job. Upon release, Bobo was a critical and commercial failure. Stone had intended to retire from animation, but his managers asked him to work on other animated films, including Despicable You (2010) and Ro-Cars 2 (2011). He agreed to work as an animator on key characters. During the former's production, Avast Television learned about his animating style and hired him for The Start of the Lovely World (2011). As a result, he left the Ro-Car 2 production to focus on the Lovely World film. By June 2012, Stone retired from animating, to focus on upcoming projects.

Following the announcement of Airplane 2 (2018), Harry Stone, a fan of the first film, accepted the role of animator on key characters. He worked on animating the main characters. He worked on animating the main characters. He had planned to animate the film Airplane 4: One Last Flight (2021), but he later moved on to other projects, returning to work on Airplane World! in 2023. Stone is expected to return as an animator in the upcoming sixth installment.

Television

Harry Stone and Sion Jones co-wrote the scripts for episodes of the second and third seasons of the Cineblox Productions's television series RSCP (1995–1998). In the 2000s, Stone was hired to produced various episodes for The Anna Hottenmeyer's Show (1997–present) before leaving the production team by January 2013. Avast Television hired Stone in 2019 to work as a producer on the television series Robloxians (2013–2026), for which Stone co-wrote several episodes with other writers, including Angus Kennedy, from the seventh to the tenth season. However, following the latter's death, him heavily focusing on the development of Roblox: The Movie and simultaneously finishing on Overnight (2022), he left the production team by April 2022, though he had planned to return to work on the series in the "near future". He come back to served as an executive producer for the Robloxians episode "Forever & Always — A Love Story" in November 2025, and co-write the series's finale episode "End of a New Chapter" in January of the following year. He described working on the former episode as one of the "best things that he worked on in the longest time" because he had always wanted to develop an animated musical-related production.

He also worked as a co-writer on the television series Bee Swarm Simulator (2018–2019) and Pet Simulator (2018–2025).

Film

In 2010, Harry Stone made his directorial debut with the animated comedy film Technology at Rise. The film received a generally positive reception from critics and audiences, but flopped at the box office, only grossing around $108.7 million against its $140 million budget. Stone was expected to return to direct the sequel, but was cancelled, as a result of the film's commercial failure.

In 2026, Harry Stone directed the musical fantasy film Roblox: The Movie. The film, which was in development hell for various years, was revived when Stone discovered concept art of previous versions in January 2019. Production began by the following year under the title Roblox: The Feature Film and was produced by Bloxy Animation Productions and Universal Pictures with Harry writing the original scripts. Released on November 27 of that year, Roblox became a major critical and commercial success, getting praise from critics and audiences. The film earned $627.4 million in the United States and Bloxanada and $465.6 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $1,093 billion. The film is the highest-grossing film in 2026 and one of the highest-grossing animated films.
