Gregory Aberam (June 5, 1830 – February 12, 1901) was a Robloxian pioneer, explorer, entrepreneur, and a founder of the city Aberdeen in the state of North Bloxifornia who founded the city along with pioneer Hickory Waldeen who he knew well. Aberam played a crucial role in the settlement and development of the Funville County during the late 19th century.
Gregory Aberam was born and raised in the rural areas of North Bloxifornia and he developed a strong connection to the land and its resources at an early age. His entrepreneur career began with small lumber operations near Funville, which eventually grew as the demand for lumber increased. Aberam had a strong desire to start a settlement in the northeastern part of Funville County and this led to the establishment of city Aberdeen in 1898. In 1901, Aberam got bit by an unknown creature during an exploration and passed away at Willtown General Hospital two days later. Gregory Aberam remained a significant figure among the state for his notable achievements.
Early life and education
Gregory Aberam was born on June 5, 1830, in a middle class home near the banks of a river near a small town, Funville and was born as the youngest of four children. His father, Thomas Aberam, was a lumberjack who worked in the large forests of North Bloxifornia, while his mother, Margaret Aberam, managed their farm and took care of the kids. The rural environment he was surrounded by helped Gregory have a huge appreciation for nature and its resources which would later help his career. Aberam’s siblings include John Aberam (1817-1899), Bloxington Aberam (1824-1917), and Arthur Aberam (1829-1870).
Despite having limited access to formal education, Aberam was quite smart and could easily solve certain problems. He also had the strong attitude of leadership. He was homeschooled by his mother, who taught him reading, writing, math, and other subjects. In his teenage years, Gregory spent much of his time working alongside his father in the lumber industry, gaining experience of resources and trading.
Life and career
In 1848, Aberam attended a local trade school located at rural areas closer to Funville, where he improved his skills in carpentry and learned the basics of business operations. By the time he was 20, Aberam had not only mastered the craft of logging but also developed a huge interest in developing his county and improving the economy and infrastructure. After completing his training at the trade school in 1848, Aberam returned to his village and began working full time in the lumber industry. At the time, Funville and other villages were growing settlements with increasing demand for wood due to its expanding population and the construction of new homes and trade routes.
Aberam later recognized the growth in the lumber trade and partnered with local businesses to found his first business, Aberam Lumber Corporations, in 1850. By the mid 1850s, Aberam's company had become one of the largest lumber suppliers in Funville County. However, he did not want to limit the business. During his frequent travels to different regions of the state to expand his business, Aberam found a good place at the northeast of the county and the area had great resources which were untouched. Aberam was quite ambitious and wanted to create a new settlement at the area.
In 1866, Aberam began collaborating with Hickory Waldeen, a pioneer and an entrepreneur who he knows, and shared his interest on starting a new settlement. The two had conducted surveys of the northeastern region of Funville County and discovered that the place had abundance of very useful resources. Aberam and Waldeen spent years for the settlement's development taking the help of the authorities too. During the 1860s, many residents from Funville and nearby surrounding small villages, would move into the growing settlement.
Aberdeen officially got established and became a city in May 1898, after many decades of the two pioneers trying to develop the place. Aberam played a significant role in its initial development, as designing the settlements and neighborhoods, bringing settlers, and monitoring the infrastructure. He also made some partnerships with nearby towns and often traded to develop the city faster and make certain things easier. Aberam also had gained a lot of prominence during the subsequent years due to his leadership. He also continued exploring areas and ventured for good resources.
Death and legacy
On February 10, 1901, Aberam went on an exploration at the northern parts of Sea County searching for certain resources and also searching for good areas for his lumber company. A few hours later, he caught a hazardous disease after getting bit by an unknown organism and was immediately sent to Willtown General Hospital at Willtown, North Bloxifornia, close to Kortia. However, the doctors were unable to treat it and he unfortunately passed away two days later. Aberam remained a quite significant figure throughout the state for all the achievements he has done.
