History
Founding and Development (1895-1905)
Willtown General Hospital was founded in 1895 in response to the growing need and demand for medical facilities in the northern region of North Bloxifornia. Willtown and the surrounding towns and villages, were rapidly developing as industrial and residential zones, and lacked healthcare. There were no hospitals around the region and there was only one hospital in Sea County, which was in Kortia.
After its opening, the hospital had 40 beds, having advanced surgical equipment, making it one of the most advanced medical centers in the area at the time. The hospital had successfully gave healthcare to many families from Willtown and surrounding communities. The hospital's first chief physician, Dr. Harold Davidson, introduced various methods in improving healthcare.
Expansion (1906–1925)
By the early 20th century, Willtown General Hospital experienced a significant growth. Its success in treating patients attracted many doctors from the state and even some outside the state. In 1910, the hospital expanded to include a children's ward, an advanced laboratory, and a research center focused on discovering and finding ways to handle such dangerous diseases. The hospital also became a center for medical education, having a partnership with North Bloxifornia Medical College to train doctors and nurses.
Decline and Merging (1926–1944)
The Great Depression in the 1930s brought financial challenges to many institutions, including Willtown General Hospital. Although it continued to operate, budget problems and reduced quality problems were significantly faced. Other medical hospitals who were able to handle the Great Depression, passed Willtown General Hospital, and during the early 1940s, many new small hospitals were being built. In 1944, a decision was made to merge Willtown General with Johnson Hospital, located in Kortia, to create a better healthcare facility. In the same position, Bloxifornia State Hospital was built.
