Erik Cassel II (July 3, 1292 - October 24, 1343) was the 2nd president of Robloxian Empire from 1311 to his death in 1343. He was the son of Erik Cassel I, the first president and founder of the country, and Matilda Wintersaw. During his presidency, Robloxity was established as the capital. Although he is less frequently mentioned than his father, he owes a similar amount of merits to the nation of Robloxia. He founded the Casselist Party (which existed until 1795) together with Maximus Mormutball Jr.. Erik Cassel II also added the first amendment to Modus Operandus, thus giving Robloxians freedom of speech. This right to allow robloxians to speak freely lasted until the Corporatist Party in 2004 turned it into a privilege, and in January 7, 2026, turned it into a restricted privilege until June 2, 2026, when John Puma gave the freedom of speech back. During his presidency, Bloxington Island was discovered and annexed by Robloxia, which remains the Robloxian territory to this day (Although Bloxington claims the island as its own).
Early life
Erik Cassel II was born on July 3, 1292, to President Erik Cassel I and First Lady Matilda Wintersaw. When he was four years old, Robloxia's independence was internationally recognized. Robloxia's first ambassador to the United States described Erik Cassel II as a quick learner and calm boy, a good candidate for a future president.
Growing up, Erik Cassel II read the works of various ancient thinkers and philosophers. He was particularly fond of Aristotle's views.
President
After the death of Erik Cassel I, Erik Cassel II allied with Maximus Mormutball Jr. to form the Juniors faction. The name comes from the fact that both were sons of the fathers of independence and bore their names. Erik Cassel II soon won the election and became president. Just twelve days later, on August 18, 1311, Erik Cassel II officially added the first amendment to the Modus Operandus, introducing freedom of speech.
Four years after Erik Cassel II became president, Drake Maverick Bloxington discovered Bloxington Island and moved with his family, while the uninformed government presumed him dead. This later caused the Mystery of Bloxington.
In 1318, the Juniors faction was transformed into Casselist Party.
In late 1320, Drake Maverick Bloxington's daughter, Elizabeth Olivia Bloxington, left the Bloxington Island and traveled to Robloxity were she told president Erik Cassel II about the island. Erik learned about Drake's survival and his family. He ordered an expedition to be sent there. However, when it arrived in early 1321, their house was found but Bloxington family was missing. Cassel summoned Elizabeth to question her. However, before she could be questioned, she disappeared too. Erik Cassel II then officially declared Bloxington Island a Robloxian territory.
Death and legacy
President Erik Cassel II died from saft overdose in Gillent, a city he founded. He is remembered for creating the Juniors faction, which later became the Casselist Party during his presidency. The introduction of freedom of speech by Erik Cassel II gave rise to the phrase "Ericus Secundus in sepulcro suo volutatur" (Ro-Latin for "Erik the Second is rolling in his grave"), meaning dictatorship. He was succeeded by his elder son, Erik Cassel III.
Family
Erik Cassel II had two sons:
- Erik Cassel III (1313-1364), third president of Robloxian Empire.
- John-Tigrius Cassel (1317-1378)
