Hello there, my name's Adam, also known as Aginnon1. I'm from The Czech Republic, and, at the time of this writing, I'm 23 years old (born July 14th 2001). I'm a fan of various works from the past, especially from 1990's and the 2000's. I'm also a fan of some TV shows, I often play videogames, and I'm a big nerd when it comes to electronics and vehicles. Whenever I'm watching or playing, I tend to identify which sound effect was used.

How I Joined This Wiki:

Back in early 2017, I suddenly realized that there exists a wiki for sound effects, so I quickly joined the bandwagon.

Favorite TV Shows:

Alarm for Cobra 11: The Motorway Police -- Mainly inspired me to join this Wiki, as the series used a ton of familiar sound effects I know.

The X-Files -- I always liked watching the episodes whenever I came home from school back then. The film "Fight the Future" had better sound design than the series of which it's based.

NCIS -- Not particularly often, but I really like the sound design.

CSI: Miami -- Everytime you hear "Won't Be Fooled Again" by The Who, you know that you're in for a good time. Also has some pretty well done sound design.

Favorite Films:

GoldenEye (1995) -- One of the best Bond films I've seen, and it has a unique blend of modern and vintage sound design.

Police Story 4: First Strike (1996) -- Has one of the most death-defying experiences caught on camera, courtesy of a fight in a underwater aquarium show. The American version of that film wanted me to dig into the Symphonic Adventures library.

Mr. Nice Guy (1997) -- I sometimes get a kick out of that film, with the fight at the construction site near the end being well choreographed. It, alongside First Strike and Who Am I? were some inspirations that helped me join this Wiki.

Rush Hour (1998) -- One of the best film trilogies ever.

The Bourne Identity (2002) -- Out of all things made in 2002 (though filmed in 2000-2001), this is one of the best, and it sits up in the top three, next to The Transporter, mentioned below.

The Transporter (2002) -- Outside of The Fifth Element and the French Taxi series, I consider The Transporter to be one of Luc Besson's best films.

The Fifth Element (1997) -- As a fan of various works released in the 1990s, I love this film and its sound design. Still, I tend to quote it from time to time.

Who Am I? (1998) -- Another inspiration that helped me join this Wiki.

Favorite Anime:

Not a big anime fan, as I've always preferred those that get me interested. Sometimes, I can ignore the sound design and focus on the plot and the characters instead.

Aria the Scarlet Ammo -- With a slew of funny moments, Aria the Scarlet Ammo gave me a smile, and a occasional laugh with its Tsundere lead, if you can ignore the sound design.

Gunsmith Cats -- The best three part OVA that I've ever seen, even with its minor niggles such as the bad English voice acting and the sound design in the dub (though amended in the subtitled version).

Noir -- Another one of my favorites, and that got me into the Girls with Guns sub-genre (as well as making pages of films based on this genre). It's a shame that the English dub isn't very good in my opinion. Unfortunately, I never got around to finish it.

Favorite Video Games:

The Asuka 120% franchise - Has the most creative and original sound design in a fighting game, and has the best soundtrack I've ever heard (which should've won awards).

The Bloody Roar franchise - Another franchise that has creative sound design. It deserves a comeback.

The Burnout franchise - One of the most creative sound designs in a racing series, with Revenge having the best sound design I've ever heard.

The Call of Duty franchise - Another franchise whose sound design is creative.

The Gran Turismo series - To this day, it's one of the few racing game franchises to be original on sound design, and I'm proud of it. Too bad the 7th one was an utter disappointment.

The Need for Speed series - A rollercoaster series that began well (first five games), then went down (Hot Pursuit 2), and went up for a few more games (The Underground era), went down again, and went up again, basically: an almost neverending rise and fall. Overall, it's a confusing series, but the sound design is really good for most entries.

(Would be updated with more games later.)

Pages That I Made:

Here are some of the pages I created on this Wiki.

Favorite Sound Effect Libraries:

If I were hired as a sound editor, here's what I could've used:

Sound Ideas:

-Dynamic Range CDs 3 and 4

-Series 2000

-Series 4000 Hollywood

-Series 5000 Wheels + 2nd Gear (only on the correct vehicles)

-General Series 6000 + Extensions (no annoying sound effects)

-Warner Bros. Sound Effects Library

The Hollywood Edge:

-Cartoon Trax Vol. 1

-Foley Sound Library

-Premiere Edition Vol.1 and 2 (no annoying sound effects)

-The Edge Edition Vol.1

All of which would be used for that nostalgia flavor, and not excessively, only often and modified. Nowadays, most of these libraries are out of date and a tad overused for my liking.

Favorite Sounds:

I have many favorites, but this is a condensed list:

  • Hollywood Edge M60 Automatic Machine Gun (and their variations, such as from Premiere Edition 2) -- Also if it matches the on-screen weapon, though it peeves me if it's used on a weapon that does not match on-screen.

...and other rarely used sounds (see below).

Overused Sounds and Sound Libraries:

Dynamic Range Sound Library -- Both CDs 1 and 2 (not 3 and 4 as that library's underused), as the majority of the films I've seen use this library, often with mixed results.

General Series 6000 (original) -- About 60% of the films and TV shows I've seen, as well as the games I've played use this library.

Series 2000 Brake Skid 02 and other Auto, Skid sound effects from this library -- If you can't get a sound recordist to record a vehicle performing a sharp turn, I get it, but hearing them many times doesn't raise my red flag, though. I'm neutral, though.

Premiere Edition Vol.1 Metal Crashes -- Heavily used for vehicle crashes, so I don't hate them.

Howie Long Scream (aka Screams 3, Man - Gut-Wrenching Scream With Fall) -- Overused, but I don't hate it.

Underused and Rare Sounds:

PARAMOUNT PISTOL SHOT 01 -- Rifle, pistol or a shotgun? It's your preference, really.

TECHNICOLOR GLASS SHATTER 01 -- Never gets out of date for me.

WB BULLET RICOCHETS -- Another set of sounds that I like.

Any Skywalker Sound sound effect -- Their sound design always pleases me.
