Lamua Kamua (born 14 November 1957) is a Telamonian politician, serving as the president of Telamon Islands from 1996 to 2008, currently living as Telamon Islands Ambassador to Oceania since 2021. Often compared to Joseph Ro and Lanakila Mikala, he is seen as one of the greatest personalities in the history of the country.

He was nominated for Noblox Peace Prize in 1998, 2001 and 2007.

Life

Early life

Lamua Kamua was born on one of the inhabited islands of the Katahu Islands in the Lamua tribe. Despite his origins, he obtained an education and in 1975 he began to study in Kohola. In 1978, he transferred to Bloxburg Valley University in San Juan. In 1981 he got married. 6 years later his daughter was born. In 1989, he moved to Telamon City, taking up corporate work there. He worked for Mauna Kola for several months. In 1992, he decided to enter the political scene, debuting in the Agrarian Party. A year later, two children were born to him. In 1996, his party nominated him as one of its presidential candidates.

Election

Due to his surname, Lamua Kamua became popular. People from outside Manakapa voted for him because they believed he would donate money to the other islands, while people from Manakapa voted for him because of his name. Lamua Kamua cooperated with Mauna Kola in his election campaign. He also received support from Lanakila Ate, son of Lanakila Mikala.

President

After taking office, he introduced reforms that allowed money to also be transferred to smaller islands. It also banned discrimination based on origin that affected some indigenous Telamonians or foreigners in trade. He also reformed education. According to street polls, he had over 61% support. Lamua Kamua confirmed Joseph Ro's Neo-Japanese refugee regulations, which led to the suspension of relations between the countries. On July 2, 1999, the assassin fired two missed shots at the president and was then neutralized by the guards. He probably worked for Neo-Japanese intelligence. After his successful 4 years in office, Lamua Kamua was re-elected as president.

In the next term, Lamua Kamua introduced further laws that supported citizens. He condemned many authoritarian governments and introduced constitutional amendments that could have prevented their establishment in the Telamon Islands. In 2003, Lamua Kamua announced that he did not intend to take part in the 2004 elections, but the Agrarian Party did not put forward any major candidates before them, so the president stood for the next elections.

In the last term, he did not introduce any major reforms, but he became famous in Robloxia for a while when he visited this country spectacularly in 2005. On September 13, he landed in Bloxburg Valley, visiting major locations in the state through October, including Disneyland. On October 1, he landed in Bloxas, where he gave an interview for a local newspaper. He then flew to Bloxissouri and attended the opening of the monument, and then flew to Livetopia. On October 7, he arrived in Robloxia City, where he met the president of Robloxia, gave many interviews and became an honorary guest at the opening of the gallery in Baojitown. On October 19, Lamua Kamua boarded a plane to Telamon City. In April 2006, he announced that he would end his political career in 2008. He confirmed this a year later.

Ambassador

On March 1, 2008, he handed over the office to the new president, Manu Lanakila. He then started working in the Department of Diplomacy, like many politicians after finishing a more important career. In 2013, he was sent to Ro Fiji as an ambassador. He held office there in an old tenement house in Ro Suva. He was quite popular among the inhabitants of the older district and the minority Telamonians. In 2020, he decided to end his work as ambassador in Ro Fiji due to health reasons. He was assigned as Telamon Islands Ambassador to Oceania. He gained popularity and is often referred to as "a nice old man who likes hot dogs". He resides in a villa that once belonged to a noble family from the Telamon Islands.

Family

His wife is from Vikinglaw Union and works at a cafe in Niae City. His son John Lamua owns two houses, one in Niae City and the other in Telamon City. His daughters live in Brookhaven. Lamua Kamua also constantly visits his relatives in the Lamua tribe. The former president's mother owns a residence in the New Robloxia Mountains territory. His grandson Quintus Lamua plays as midfielder in the Kingdom of Oceania national football team.
