Ugh, are we going to ignore the fact that I’ve been “10-years-old” since 1994??

If you want to see the canon Ash Ketchup, go here.

Ash Ketchup is one of the main characters in the Brick Bronze Pokemon Abridged web series by TheGreatestGamer84. He is a 10-year-old Robloxian who is often depicted as being cynical despite being a child.

He was voiced by TheGreatestGamer84 (the series’ creator) throughout every season of the series.

History

Childhood

Ash Ketchup was born to a dysfunctional woman by the name of Delia Ketchup on May 25th, 1984. It is heavily implied that he mostly grew up taking care of himself due to Delia’s neglectful behavior and thus ended up becoming resentful of other adults due to this.

As a toddler, Ketchup was sent to a summer camp held by Professor Oak, this is where he would meet Serena, a girl with obsessive tendencies. At first, he helped her get back to the summer camp after Serena accidentally injured her knee, but he would later push her away after she began saying creepy things about him.

Start of his journey

One day in April 1994, Ash woke up very late after spending the whole night playing Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters (an in-real life video game that predates Kid Icarus: Uprising by 19 years) on his Gamaboi, and after waking up, he quickly ran to Professor Oak’s laboratory to see if he could get Squirtle (the Pokémon he originally wanted) and mainly to get out of his house. Unfortunately for Ash, he was late, but before he could actually quit, Professor Oak gave him a Pikachu, who was cheerful, a contrast to Ash’s cynical personality.

At first, he and Pikachu did not get along because Ash would often bully Pikachu and even call him derogatory terms (such as “Electric Rat” and “Idiot”). This would all end after Ash and Pikachu were nearly killed by a flock of stray Spearows.

Later, Ash would meet Misty, a girl with severe anger management issues that were similar of that to Ash and due to their similar backgrounds, they eventually became best friends.

After a while of fighting people, Misty, Ash and Pikachu would go to the Pewter City gym, where they met Brock, a 18-year-old man who had a obsession with any Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys, which originally disturbed Ash, but eventually, Brock would join them.

May, Max and Ash meet

Sometime between 1997 and 1998, Misty and Brock would abandon Ash due to respective reasons (as Misty had to go back to running the Cerulean Gym and Brock had to go back to Pewter City to take care of his siblings).

Due to this, Ash became depressed for a while but all of that would change when Ash went to Lilycove City and accidentally met May, a optimistic girl with a food obsession, and Max, May’s younger brother who was smart. May admired Ash while Max would often tease Ash for “being bad at winning”, which Ash would initially ignore.

Eventually, after pretending to be friends with both May and Max, Ash would abandon them despite the fact that May and Max had thought that Ash would be their best friend, only to be betrayed.

Unova

Ash had arrived to Nuvema Town and at first, he was actually trying to improve as a person, however this was short lived after Ash met Iris, a girl around his age who lived in the forest, and Cilan, a Gym Leader who also worked as a waiter, and Ash decided to manipulate both of them into becoming his friends, which initially worked until Bianca joined them, the latter did not trust Ash after hearing what had happened in Hoenn and knew that Ash was manipulative, despite her warnings, Cilan and Iris kept traveling with Ash.

Eventually, Ash would pull the same stunt as he had done in Hoenn except that this time, Ash’s apology would not be accepted by both of them and he was told to not come back to Unova because no one there wanted anything to do with him.

Kalos

Ash would initially arrive to Kalos after fleeing from Unova, wanting to start a “new life”. but then, he ended up reuniting with Serena, the same girl from his past who had said creepy things about him except that she was now 10 and she had befriended 2 robloxians, Clemont (an Ōtaku obsessed with High School DxD) and Bonnie, both of whom had heard of Ash from Serena’s stories about her childhood, at first, Ash wanted to return to Unova but then remembered that he could not return there because his financial situation was not good.

Personality

Unlike his original counterpart, this version of Ash is considered to be cynical, manipulative and sometimes downright evil (as he is often shown to do horrible things just because he feels like it). He is also said to be self-aware about the fact that he is in a anime series and is often trying to talk about the fact that he has stayed 10 for 25 years and worried he might not even age at all.

However, he is sometimes seen being nice (as seen with how he treats Pikachu), but this is often played for laughs and is not meant to be taken very seriously.

Trivia

  • TheGreatestGamer84 regretted Ash’s character arc, wishing that he would change his character arc.
  • Funnily enough, this version of Ash has inspired several comic dub versions of Ash Ketchup.
