An Image of Rodan from the Heisei Era.

The Rodan Roar is a sound effect from TV shows, movies, and others.

Rodan's roar sounds like a mix between bird screeches and jets. Rodan's roar starts off like a shrieking, similar to birds. The roar then gets much deeper, and more screechy. His roar then ends in a long exhale. Rodan's roar was reused for many of the kaiju, such as the Heisei King Ghidorah and Battra.

All these roar sounds were created by the sounds of sped up vocalizations of monkeys, as said in the description of the original unedited version of the sound, which can be found in the Freesound website.

It was also created by a contrabass, Sound technican Ichiro Minawa created Rodan's roar by recreating the contrabass technique that Akira Ifukube used to create Godzilla's roar. He then layered the recordings with a human voice and sped them up. Rodan's roar was reused for several other kaiju, such as the Heisei King Ghidorah, Battra, and the Ultra Series kaiju Antlar, Agira and Gasgegon, among others.
