Whelchel Valley is a small (but large in territorial terms) community located in Beltrami County, Keysota, northeast of Funkley, and west of Whelchel. It is surrounded by rugged terrain and is part of the valley in the neighboring town, Whelchel.

The town was founded in 1991, with a few houses sparsely distributed, due to the lack of commerce in the town, its citizens work in Funkley's Medoline (most), Prior Lake (second most), and Hazelton (third most).

A storm shelter has already been considered by the town council, as the town is often hit by tornadoes because it is close to two towns where they usually originate.

The town has no state routes or county roads that pass through its town limits, but it has one unnamed gravel road pass through the town limits that is an exit of Keysota State Route 71. Its water supply comes from the lake of Prior Lake.
