University System Of Robloxia

The University System Of Robloxia, sometimes abbreviated as USR and formerly known as the "Roblox University Group" (RUG) is a collegiate oversight board founded on June 11th, 2007 by Alexander Newton. It currently includes 14 public institutions of higher learning in the Robloxia. The system is responsible for overseeing the smooth and successful operation of the 14 institutions it accredits.

History

Before the USR

Prior to the establishment of the USR, many institutions oversaw their own operations. This created an issue among many school, specifically during the 1990s, where several instances of academic and financial fraud were exposed within many of the younger institutions, such as an instance of misappropriation of federal student aid at Bloxburg Valley State University, Northridge in 1992.

Instances of fraud and misappropriation

Between 1989 to 1998, over 26 cases of fraud and/or financial aid misappropriation were discovered throughout Robloxia. These were discovered mostly by independent review groups, like the Independent Revenue Group. This raised concerns regarding the legitimacy of the schools and their oversight boards.

Concerns about mutual accreditation

Starting the 1950s, some schools, primarily in Bloxburg Valley, began accrediting each other to provide legitimacy to the degrees they issued to their graduates. In 1958, the state of Bloxburg Valley also began acknowledging these mutual accreditations as legitimate and legal. This system allowed established schools to provide additional support and oversight to newer and smaller schools while allowing them to establish their reach. Mutual accreditation helped get many schools off the ground, as schools like University of Bloxburg Valley, San Juan to find success and growth.

Despite the support of the state and the increased benefits of mutual accreditation, concerns regarding the reliability of these accreditations arose. Many institutions were accredited by several school, many with little to no history. This system was also historically abused by bigger schools which charged "under the table" fees for their accreditation.

Initial Establishment

At the 2004 Roblox Educators Conference in Robloxia City, D.C., discussion regarding the establishment of two new universities (Roblox University and Bloxas Southern College) began. Alexander (Alex) Newton, an educator from University Of Rohio suggested that there should be a central board that would accredit the new universities, instead of the usual state level ones. After about a year of discussion both former president George W. Blox and newly elected president David Baszucki approved the creation of the Roblox University Group. As it was his idea, the REC voted to have Newton as the founder and commissioner.

Roblox University Group Era (2007-2019)

In the early days of the RUG, it's role was primarily to re-establish trust in it's member institutions. It denounced all previous mutual accreditations and performed several extremely meticulous examinations of its members, searching for any and all signs of corruption. Newton referred to this as a "deep cleanse of [the] university system". When his clean up was complete in 2010, the RUG had admitted 9 institutions.

This era was also somewhat controversial as Newton famously called out the Bloxburg Valley State University System but declined to do the same to his home state's university board. When asked about his decision to key in on Bloxburg Valley in an interview in 2022, he said "I sincerely believed that at the time, Bloxburg Valley was the biggest offender of fraud and malpractice."

Following the 2008 University Of Rohio Shooting the RUG implemented additional policies regarding campus safety, prohibiting the carrying or possession of firearms on RUG campuses.

On September 23, 2019, Newton announced his retirement and the RUG was absorbed into the Robloxian Department of Higher Education.

University System of Robloxia Era (2019-Present)

Seeing as it was no longer a separate and independent group, the Roblox Department of Higher Education (RDHE) renamed the group to the University System of Robloxia to better indicate the role the group would play. The RDHE made this the central office for accreditation of new schools and state level college boards, as well as the central board for funding new construction projects.

The USR during this time added 5 new institutions as well as accrediting both the Bloxburg Valley State University System and the Rohio University System. Since 2019, the USG has also spent nearly 700 Million R$ on funding beautification and remodeling projects.

• Public Community College - Institutions that offer bachelor's and/or associate degrees with no graduate programs.
• Public University - Institutions that offer associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees with limited, select doctoral programs open to the public.
• Private University - Institutions that offer associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees with limited, select doctoral programs not open to the public.
• Public Historically BloxAfrican-Robloxian University - Public Universities created with the primary purpose of providing higher education to BloxAfricans.
• Public Law University - Public Universities known or created with primary purpose of teaching and providing degrees in Law
• Public Research University - Public Universities known or created with primary purpose of research.
• Public Engineering University - Public Universities known or created with the primary purpose of teaching and providing degrees in engineering.

Fun facts

Blocahoma City Community College was actually accepted on April 1st, but delayed it's acceptance until April 2nd to line up with it's anniversary.

Lumina & Perriman University were added on the same date as they both sent their applications at the same time.

The University of Amberfield is the youngest institution in the University System of Robloxia.
