Lumina University commonly abbreviated LU, is a Public Historically BloxAfrican University in Rogusta, Reorgia. It's related directly to two other universities that were all founded around the same time via the BloxAfrican Education Act of 1921.

History

Early Days (1921-1964)

After the BloxAfrican Education Act was passed in 1921, research for where a new college could be founded began. Several states bidded on who would be the first to get a school. In 1924, the suggestion to build the school in the up and coming town of Rogusta was brought up and after scouting, Lumina College was founded on January 4th, 1927. Lumina's founding president, Dr. Constance Marshall as well as 15 educators opened the doors to the incoming 105 first year students the fall of that year.

Lumina's development continued into the 1940s, as it's sister schools, Perriman University in Blorida and Huntington University in Bloxas were built. Lumina specialized during this time, in Music and Technological research. It's technology programs, especially after the Blox Depression ended, grew as students flocked to school to learn skills that would help them in their aspiring careers.

Illumination Project (1964-1988)

in 1964, Dr. Christian Thomas, the president of the school at the time, made a request to both the Reorgia College Board and the Lumina Alumni Foundation for the funding to expand the school. After years of work, the school successfully raised 180 Million R$ to expand the campus. Brian Cindering, a graduate of the university donated an additional 140 Million R$ in 1978 to build a stadium for the school, allowing them to have a football field. The stadium was later named after him.

The growth of Lumina also allowed for Rogusta to grow as well, elavating itself from a small college town to a population of nearly 75,000 by 1988.

Independent Review (1991)

On May 3rd, 1991, after Dr. Thomas announced his retirement, the Independent Revenue Group requested permission to perform an independent audit on the finances of Lumina. The interim president, Henry McGlockton saw no reason to deny the request, as Lumina (as with most HBCUs during this time) publicly stored their books and had nothing worth hiding. Despite the public records, the review process took painstakingly long, as the IRG was distracted with other issues during the review. In spite of the setbacks, in 1995 they were reward the rare Gold Star for it's financial responsibility grading.

Roblox University Group Membership (2007)

In 2007, Lumina, as well as its sister schools were invited to apply for membership for the new Roblox University Group (RUG). Lumina and Perriman University both applied on the same day and staff at the RUG though it would be better to admit them together rather have one school wait an additional year. Interestingly, upon their admission, both schools saw a 8% increase in applications, something they boasted and used as encouragement for other schools to get acredited.

By the end of the 2008-09 school term, Lumina had graduated its largest freshman class ever of 1,120 students.

Modern Era (2010-Present)
