The Telamon Words is a Robloxian newspaper, founded in 1898 in Chattanooga, North Bloxifornia. It started as a small weekly paper, focusing on local politics, industrial growth, and the affairs of the western regions of Robloxia. The founder, Gregory H. Clarkson, was a former journalist for the Blackville Gazette before deciding to create an independent news source that would challenge the dominant newspapers of the time. Over the decades, The Telamon Words gradually grew and gained more recognition, covering major events like the 1927 Roregon Floods, the 1984 Northern Roregon UFO Sighting, the 1985 Armed Disease Control Center protests, and the 1984 Piano Teacher Murders. By the early 2000s, the paper had shifted towards both print and online journalism, adapting to the rapid changes in news consumption.
The Telamon Words is known for its bold editorial stance, often taking strong positions on political matters. During the 1998 North Bloxifornian gubernatorial election, it published a controversial opinion piece arguing that Linda Howell’s victory was inevitable due to widespread dissatisfaction with her opponent’s policies. The paper has also been involved in major investigative reports, including a 2015 exposé on corruption within the North Bloxifornian National Transit Authority, which led to multiple resignations. Despite this, it has also been accused of sensationalism, particularly in its crime reporting. In 2009, a headline about the 2009 Brickington Train Derailment caused public outrage after it inaccurately reported the number of casualties. However, the paper continues to maintain a strong readership, particularly in urban areas like Pacifico, Kortia, Bleatale, Blackville, Chattanooga and Ralem, where it remains a widely trusted source of news.
The headquarters of The Telamon Words is located in an old seven-story building in Chattanooga’s downtown. The building also features an extensive archive that holds thousands of physical and digital records dating back to the early 1900s. The paper is currently owned by Telamon Media Group, which also operates several radio stations and a local TV network, Telamon News Channel. The newspaper was bought by the Telamon Media Group in 1960. Over the years, many notable journalists have worked at the paper, including Martha Jenkins, an award-winning investigative reporter known for her coverage of the Lost Zone disappearances, and Daniel K. Summers, who was one of the first to report on the 2022 Roregon trade crisis. The Telamon Words continues to be one of the most influential newspapers in Robloxia, frequently cited in political debates and research papers.
