The Lurker is a widely recognized and local legend associated with the North Bloxifornian Forest, a vast and remote woodland located in North Bloxifornia, Robloxia. The myth centers around a humanoid figure, often described as lurking in the dense, isolated parts of the forest. While accounts of the creature's appearance vary slightly, it is most commonly depicted as a tall, slender figure with long limbs, glowing red eyes, and shadow-like presence that is considered to be highly unsettling. However, there is also believed to be another type of the entity where it has white eyes and a mouth instead. The legend of The Lurker has been passed down through generations, with reports of sightings dating back to the early 1970s. The entity is said to be particularly active during the night, especially in the forest's thick fog and low-light conditions.

The legend of The Lurker has been widely covered in local media since the early 1970s. The first well known report was from the North Bloxifornia Times in February 1973 after Joe Green had allegedly taken a picture of the figure. During the later half of the 20th century, The Lurker continued to be occasionally reported and discussed among theorists and media, although rumors were at its highest rate of spreading during the mid-1970s. Since the 1970s, many researchers and park authorities had conducted investigations into the forest, taking note of accounts, photographs, and video footage, however they did not manage to find any solid proof. Locals in Bobaria and surrounding areas have incorporated the myth into cultural traditions, leaving offerings at forest edges, marking “safe paths,” and avoiding the forest after dark. Stories of the creature had also been incorporated into songs, films and festivals throughout the decades. An example is Shadow in The Pines which was released in 2025, inspired by The Lurker.

Background

Numerous hikers and campers have claimed to have encountered the figure in the more remote areas, where trails are sparse and the landscape becomes more foggy and dark. Witnesses often report a sense of being watched, accompanied by unsettling noises or sudden, unexplained movements in the shadows. In some instances, individuals have heard distorted whispers or faint footsteps behind them, while no one is present. However, those areas were associated with The Lurker.

The first widely known sighting of The Lurker occurred in 1972, when a group of campers were scheduled to venture into an area of the forest of North Bloxifornian Forest. They were reportedly followed by a figure whose movements were strange. By the time the group returned to the nearby town of Bobaria, one of their members had mysteriously disappeared. The search started, however, there was no trace of the camper, but several local residents claimed to have seen The Lurker near the site of the disappearance. Over the years, additional disappearances and strange occurrences were linked to the figure, with many warnings against traveling too deep into the North Bloxifornian Forest at night. Despite these, there is no proper evidence of the figure.

A total of 56 reports have been documented from Robloxians who assert they have encountered the beast. Furthermore, among these reports, there have been four instances of disappearances. Notably, a striking aspect of these incidents is that nearly all the victims were not residents of the area; rather, they were tourists or campers. This has prompted speculation that The Lurker harbors a disdain for outsiders or only feels comfortable with the locals it is around.

Theories

There are many theories as to what The Lurker could be along with the events that occur during sightings.

  • Unexplainable Noises - The forest makes many noises, no matter if it's from animals all the way to the wind blowing through the trees. The noises stated from victims could be one of the mentioned reasons.
  • Shadows - All of the accounts take place at night; meaning that the night sky can play tricks on the minds of those who are paranoid or tired.
