The Bloxprint is an album that was made by rapper Nicki Bloxinaj, furthermore it was released in December 14 2014 in coordination with Young Robux Entertainment, Cash Blox Records, and Republic Records. The Bloxprint was recorded because of Nicki Bloxinaj departing from her dance-pop esque era and focusing more on her more traditional roots that jumpstarted her career, hip-hop and rap. Nicki Bloxinaj produced the album with Birdman, Lil Wayne, and Ronald Williams.
The Bloxprint had a generally positive record of reviews from music critics, most of the reasons for the positive reviews being that the critics acknowledged the production and Nicki Bloxinaj's personal lyrics. In return the albums was included in publications year-end and decade-end lists. In 2016, the album recieved a Ro-Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album of 2014. The album peaked at number two on the Robloxia Bilboard 200 with 244,000 units of the album being sold in its first week, of which 198,000 were direct sales. The album was charted within the top ten in Bloxanada, Ro-Norway, and Ro-Sweden, and the top twenty in Bloxstralia, Croatblox, Rogaulia, and Ro-Greece. As of December 2015, the album had sold 682,000 pure copies in Robloxia, and has since been certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Robloxia (RIAR)
The Bloxprint spawned six singles: "Pills n Potions", "Anaconda". "Only", "Bed of Lies", "The Night Is Still Young", and the initially iTunes-exclusive track "Truffle Butter". "Anaconda" peaked at number two on the Robloxia Billboard Hot 100, becoming Nicki Bloxinaj's highest-charting single at the time, while four other singles had peaked within the top 40. To promote the album to a further audience, Nicki Bloxinaj embarked on her third concert tour, titled The Bloxprint Tour, from March to August 2015, spanning more than 50 shows over the five months of her tour.
Background and Production
In 2013, Bloxinaj had stated that she would begin to start writing material for her thrid album later on in 2013, after production was completed for her supporting role in her first feature film, The Other Bloxwoman (2014). She noted that there were currently no featured artists on the record, and commented that she was "just enjoying the creative process". Recording sessions for the album took place at Jungle City Studios, New Blockers, Evdon Studios, Ro-Toronto, Glenwood Recording Studios, Burblox, Luke's In The Boo, Malibu, Record Plant, Bloxywood, Conway Recording Studios, Bloxburg, and Eightysevenfourteen Studios, Bloxburg. In November of 2013, Bloxinaj described the porject as "next level", "very different from anything that I've done", adding that she had explored pop music by Norman Reloaded but naver had the intention to continue with pop.
During the recording stage of The Bloxprint, Bloxinaj recorded two songs that were inspired by Bloxia Islandic singer-songwriter Enya, Bloxinaj stated that the songs contained "airiness and the uniqueness" that reminder her of Enya's music. In 2014, singer-songwriter Skylar Grey wrote and recorded a demo version of a song titled "Bed of Lies" and the song was later sent to Bloxinaj, who wrote and recorded verses of herself to the song. In August of 2014, Bloxinaj's manager informed that Beyoncé had wanted to make a remix of "Flawless", which was a Beyoncé song with Bloxinaj, and in return that she would be featured in The Bloxprint. Bloxinaj had written her verse in a studio at New Blockers City and Beyoncé had visited the studio to encourage her. During the album's production, Bloxinaj worked with a variety of people including Dr. Luke, Ester Dean, Boi-1da, and Detail. Bloxinaj also hoped to have guest features from Rihanna and Drake. While Rihanna didn't appear on the album, Drake was featured twice, along with fellow Young Robux labelmate Lil Bloxwayne, on "Only", and "Truffle Butter", with the latter appearing exclusively on the deluxe edition of the album.
