Ristar, also known in Neo-Japan as Ristar: The Shooting Star (Neo-Japanese: リスター・ザ・シューティングスター) is a Neo-Japanese children’s anime series that ran from February 17th, to May 21st, 1995. It is produced by Ro-Sega and animated by the Neo-Japanese animation studio, NTMS Entertainment (the latter would later be known for Detective Conan).
The series would later be exported in Robloxia in November 1998 by ADV Films, Inc. and would eventually air its first three episodes on Avast Television one month later on December 11th, 1998.
Premise
The anime series is mainly about the misadventures of the titular anthropomorphic shooting star, Ristar, a star with stretchy arms as a superpower, who lives in the fictional Valdi System as he is tasked to save his father, a legendary hero who was kidnapped by the anime’s main antagonist, Greedy (also known as Kaiser Greedy in the Neo-Japanese version) by traveling to different planets.
At the end of the series (referring to Episode 28, which was released in Neo-Japan on May 21st, 1995 and in Robloxia on March 17th, 1999), Ristar eventually reunites with his father and the Valdi System returns back to normal.
Series Score:
Opening theme song: Ristar’s Song (リスター・ザ ーの歌, Ristar no Uta) by Michiko Asakura (Bloxlish version by Judith Amy Bell)
Ending theme song: Catch You, Catch Me by Junko Hinata (Bloxlish version by Alex Kidd (VA: Tiffany Ro-Grant))
According to Judith Amy Bell in a 2023 interview, the Neo-Japanese songs in the series were dubbed into Bloxlish by her due to the lack of budget for the dubbing company to hire Bloxlish singers.
