New Driftwood County Railway is a short-line railway in North Bloxifornia, Robloxia, operating in Driftwood County. Established in the late 1990s by politician Luther White, as an attempt to restore regional rail services, the railway serves both freight and limited passenger operations, focusing on supporting local industries. New Driftwood County Railway is based on the older railway, Driftwood County Railway, going through towns and villages in the southern tips of North Bloxifornian Forest.
The railway's route passes through rural towns, former logging settlements, and industrial areas, particularly in the southern parts of the North Bloxifornian Forest. Despite a large amount of investment in its development, the railway has faced financial and logistical challenges, and is not that successful. Freight transport remains its main focus, though passenger services are available, limitedly.
History
The name of New Driftwood County Railway could be heard back since the closure of the original Driftwood County Railway in 1962. The former railway had been an essential transport link for the timber and agricultural industries, connecting remote settlements to larger places. However, with the decline of the logging industry and the rise of road transportation, rail services in the region were gradually moved out.
By the late 20th century, there were plans made in order to bring back rail transport in Driftwood County, mostly supported by local businesses wanting alternative freight solutions. In 1995, a proposal to construct a new railway along parts near the former Driftwood County Railway was approved, and construction began in 1997. The New Driftwood County Railway officially opened on August 5, 1997, aiming to provide both freight and passenger services.
Initially, the railway was believed to be successful and rising, with supporters highlighting that it would help in economic growth. However, customers remained low, and freight demand did not meet initial expectations. While the railway continues to operate, it still does not have a large passenger service as its goal was,
