The first part of Lovely World: the Beta Series is the sixth season of the animated television series Lovely World and the first and titular season of The Beta Series, created by John Collins. It was co-produced by Starlight Productions and animated by Cinebolt Productions and Brightmyth Film Studios. The season originally began broadcasting in the United States on Children's Avast Television and in Bloxanada on Avast, respectively, on January 23 and ended on November 5, 2016, containing 38 episodes and seven specials. The season follow Alexandra and Anthony on a globetrotting tour. However, after Alexandra's family get abducted, she goes with Corey, Sophia, Lucy, Kelly, Eawn, Isabelle, and Bradley to rescue them from a hidden organization.

Developed by the "Beta Series" production crew, the season was originally confirmed in January 2015, although it was not confirmed to be a part of the original series until March, when the Beta Series—based on the upcoming seasons—was announced. When creating the season, the writers originally planned to focus exclusively on Alexandra and Anthony, but decided to incorporate a supporting cast of characters, with over nine overall key characters. The first seven episodes of this one were "pre-episodes" with two specials airing as part of the fifth season in November 2015.

Critical reception to the series was generally positive, with praise for the character development, humor (especially the cartoonishly tone and face expressions), animation and writing. The season earned higher viewership than other episodes from the previous one.

Production

Development

Pre-work for the sixth season began in June 2014, when the series was in its fourth season. Avast had intended to continue with further seasons of the core characters, but numerous employees proposed the concept of two new major characters. Between July and November of that year, the idea was discussed, and many concept art and character designs for Alexandra and Anthony were created. Following the fifth season's transmission, Avast decided to green-light the season and schedule the final episode to focus on the key characters for late in the year. On January 9, 2015, Avast Television was announced to have greenlit a sixth season of the animated television series Lovely World, which was in its fifth season.

Louie Brown, Edward's voice actor, said that the season is "aiming in a fresh direction" and that scripting has begun for the upcoming season. Pre-production on the two specials, which were initially scheduled to be the first two episodes of the season, began that month. Avast decided in the following months to air the episodes as two specials for the fifth season, which the staff agreed to. Animator Harrison Davidson claimed that he was requested to work on the sixth season in December since he had previously worked on several of the fifth season's episodes. In February, Michael's voice actor, Enrique Harding, confirmed that he was "recording his final lines" for the fifth season and that pre-production on the new season had officially begun.

That month, Avast posted a casting call on their website, calling to the sixth season simply as "Lovely World season 6." In March of that year, Avast and Children's Avast officially announced a brand new series based on the show, titled The Beta Series, with the revelation that post-production was beginning for the fifth and final season of the now-titled series, called The Original Series; the first three seasons were renamed. The sixth season was confirmed to be part of the Beta Series, and Avast confirmed days later that the final phases of writing were beginning and that test recordings for the then-untitled characters had been completed. Avast is also looking for directors and writers to contribute on the upcoming season. On March 23, the season's title was changed to Lovely World: The Beta Series. Davon Meyer, the voice actor for Leo, disclosed on social media that he was informed that the new season was in the storyboard stages and was "close to commencing the animation process."

Casting

A casting call for the sixth season began in March 2015 and was advertised on a number of Avast-related websites and networks. During that month, voice actor Georgina Bennett was approached about playing one of the two major characters, Alexandra, based on her prior appearances on Broadway and other animated television programs. Her most noteworthy role at the time was as the main character's girlfriend in the popular television series Hero, But Zero. Georgina Bennett was hired for the position in April of that year, and her appointment was confirmed in August.

Due to this, she was temporarily removed from production for episodes of Hero, But Zero, where she recorded her voice for Alexandra between May and December of that year. To test her position as the main character, she was invited to record the two specials created for the fifth season.

The trio rehearsed their roles in the same room as Georgina Bennett. Alexander Harris was originally scheduled to play Corey, but he declined the part, and Joshua Harper was cast instead. The casting call described Isabelle as "an master in singing." Singer Elizabeth Roberts was chosen for the part, and as a test, she sang the series' first song, "Cleaning Up," despite the fact that the showrunner did not want music on the program.

The event is essentially a massive series of minigames that takes place every five years and is regarded as one of the most difficult minigames in the world. Some of the group were interested and opted to participate, while Alexandra stayed to relax and converse with Anthony. Meanwhile, Isabelle learns about one of the minigames and, naturally, joins in. The first minigame involves attempting to climb the rocks, which Alexandra nearly failed but ultimately won. The second round focuses on rapping, and Isabelle wins the games. The third round involves racing on one of the longest and most difficult racetracks; Corey almost wins but decides to give it to Eawn instead. However, the next rounds resulted in the group losing games, and with over 15 players remaining, Alexandra is the only one left. The final round is a multi-race where participants swim, climb rocks, cycle, and walk. Alexandra, who has been afraid of drowning since she was a youngster, decides to race, where she meets her adversary, Maddison. The two square off in the race, and although Maddison appears to be winning, Alexandra decides to let the moment settle in and focus on having fun. Maddison eventually wins, with Alexandra finishing second. Meanwhile, the two become friends, and the gang continues their journey the next day. Meanwhile, the Organization officially tracks down the group and Jay, who was previously injured, with his big batch of guards and soliders, tracks the group down.

The crew is confronted with a serious challenge as a gigantic flying spacecraft begins to pursue them. Confused, the gang decides to go, but Alexandra realizes this and returns to face Jay. Jay intended to abduct the girl and then kill her before extracting the power from within her body to get superpowers and become stronger than ever before. Alexandra confronted Jay and the guards, and as Jay became increasingly irritated with her, Alexandra began to fear him, but chose to fight back out of fury. The brawl intensifies, and the same light source is thrown once more, much to Alexandra and Jay's surprise. The two are sucked within, and the gang follows them into the light source. Isabelle is the only one who is unable to enter and is left behind to confront some of the guards. The two become separated and are stuck inside a white light source. It is discovered that they were dragged into a half universe. The gang is stranded in another half reality when Isabelle is stolen.

With the adventures over, the group now has their own goals: Corey and Anthony want to be builders and engineers; Isabelle wants to continue dancing and performing, such as creating new songs and eventually becoming the best singer in the world; Alexandra's friends want to live a normal life, working a simple job, having fun together, and going on new adventures. Alexandra, on the other hand, has a problem: she wants to discover her own passion in addition to dancing. So, wanting to think for herself, she decided to go on a walk and discover anything that piqued her interest. Despite this, nothing piqued her attention, which grew into a much greater problem when Alexandra assumed that once the adventure was finished, the gang would go their own ways, leaving Alexandra alone. Alexandra became interested in animal welfare, thanks to Anthony, when a major storm ravaged the area. Alexandra now has a passion-driven aim, but her future remains undetermined.

Finally, the group surprises her by telling her that, despite everything, they would always be there for her, which causes Alexandra to cry and the group to hug each other. Corey, Isabelle (using money from her last performance), and Anthony had saved money for a long stay in one of the largest and most sophisticated villages ever, which had been one of Alexandra's childhood ambitions.
