Adam Bloxvine recorded and wrote "Connect" for the sixth and seventh season of the Lovely World animated television series.

In March 2015, Avast Television noticed the success of one of Adam Bloxvine's songs, "Live into the Future," and his previous performance of Ed the Flummel in Alive (2008). As a result, Avast had contacted him multiple times to discuss recording a song for the Lovely World animated television series. Previously that year, Avast Television confirmed that a new series based on the Lovely World animated series, which was airing its fifth and final season of The Original Series, was in production and was scheduled to air the following year. The series was named Lovely World: the Beta Series and featured a new cast. He consented to make a song after seeing the series, and Avast engaged him to compose "Connect," the opening theme music. By April of that year, the song had started to take shape. Adam wanted the song to "connect more with audiences beyond the show" and to have lyrics that "highlighted change and hope," alluding to the conclusion of the fifth season. Adam's interpretation of the term "connect" as "bring together or into contact"—a reference to his fans and audiences—inspired the song's title. He wanted the song to have a emotional message about "growing up" and was inspired by his childhood.

Adam was provided the demographics of the show's viewers because it was his first time working for a song of an animated series. He then started writing a song that "would toward to a type of audience," mostly teenagers and older audiences. Adam had originally intended for the song's opening theme to be rock-like, but he changed it to pop since it was the opening theme for the other songs. Adam hoped the song "showcases the future" and characterized it as a "way of hope". By September of that year, more work on the song had started, and Adam had brought on Rayna Kennedy, Julissa Pate, and Aubrie Palmer as co-writers. Producers responded favorably to the initial demo of the song, which was recorded in October and submitted by Adam and the writers. In order to concentrate on the complete cast for the first season of The Beta Series, the song that was originally intended to feature Alexandra, the main character, was dropped. Artist Callum Harrison composed the final version of "Connect" and directed portions of the songs, primarily the closing section. The song was recorded on November 9, 2015.

Release

The trailer for the fifth season's finals episode and a sneak peek at "Connect" were unveiled on November 14, 2015, following the broadcast of the episode "The Pain and Suffering — War's Time". Adam announced in December of that year that "Connect" will be made available digitally in the United States in January of the following year. Officially, the music was made available on January 11, 2016. The song was featured throughout the whole sixth and seventh seasons of the Lovely World animated television series, which ran from January 30, 2016, to July 15, 2017, with the exception of the first three episodes for the sixth season and the final episode of the seventh season. The song was used for all episodes in the seasons's DVD releases. "Connect" was then released as a CD on January 22, 2016 and was packaged with an artwork of Lovely World: the Beta Series.

The music video for "Connect" was directed by Lewis Palmer, who had previously served as the director for most of his songs, and performed by Adam Bloxvine.
