Lil Keem (born Jackson Grant; May 4, 2002 — May 9, 2021) was a Robloxian rapper from East Brickton, Robloxia. He was a member of the East Brickton Crips. He is also regarded as one of the greatest rappers of the early 2020s.
Early life
Jackson Grant was born and grew up in a neighborhood called Genesse Heights, the most dangerous neighborhood in East Brickton. His early life was rough and unstable which caused Lil Keem to experience things that would stick with him for the rest of his life.
Gang Involvment
Lil Keem joined the East Brickton Crips at the age of 12. From a young age, he was selling dope on the streets to provide money for his mother and his older brother (DeAndre Grant).
Beginning of his career
In 2019, at the age of 17, Lil Keem was involved in the Great East Brickton Turf War, a conflict where the ro-bloods and ro-crips fought over the Genesse Heights resulting in many deaths. This event left Lil Keem with many experiences so he decided to make a BloxyCloud account and uploaded his first ever song "Big Cutter". It was an instant hit and gained almost 500,000 streams overnight. The song was soon uploaded onto BloxTune where it gained 1.1 million streams in the span of two days. Lil Keem set up a BloxTube channel where he would post the music video for Big Cutter.
After 2 weeks and nearly 50 million combined streams, Lil Keem decided to drop another song, "cell stories". This song went mega-viral and as of now has over 1 billion streams. It was about his time in the justice system and instantly became one of the songs that defined 2019. After only a week, it had gained 30 million streams and Lil Keem got signed to the label $HARP$HOOTERS. In December of 2019, Lil Keem would release his first studio album "CRIPWALK" which included hits such as Thuggin For Ever, Armed And Dangerous, Dash, Emotional Killer, and Wild. This album would quickly go platinum and would lead Lil Keem to win his First Bloxy.
Stardom
Lil Keem was quickly rising to the top when on March 12th, 2020 he would release his second studio album- Born To Die. This album just like his first album would go viral and gain the young star an even larger and more loyal fan base. This album also saw the release of two of his biggest songs- On The Block and Shipment. A few months later, he would be featured on the remix of the hit song Quality Dang by Tayvion Cole, another young, East Brickton based rapper.
On September 1st, 2020 Lil Keem would release his third album- "Memories". this album would be about his time growing up in the Genesse Homes. Although the album was dark and grim it still went platinum, just like CRIPWALK. Lil Keem wouldn't release again until December 23rd, 2020 when he would make his hit single "Merry Cripmas". This song is still considered the best Christmas-rap song to date.
The rapper would be featured on multiple songs by other artists in january 2021 such as Kellanbigmoney, Tevin Weeks and Lil Keltec. Many people were wondering why he was on featuring on songs and not making them, but their questions would be answered on February 8th, 2021 when Lil Keem would drop his fourth and final album- God Bless. This album included 21 songs- the most songs the rapper would ever drop in a single album. This would be his third album to go platinum and got 15 million streams in only 12 hours. Lil Keem would go out and say "the album is dedicated to all dem real ones who have been supporting me since the start, yall the best".
The last music Lil Keem would produce would be "Outta This World", a 2 minute single that would end up being the rapper's last.
Death
On May 9th, 2021, the East Brickton Police Department would get a call from Lil Keem's Neighbour that a gunshot had been fired inside Keem's house. When the police arrived Lil Keem was on the floor, dead with a gunshot wound to the head and a gun in his hand. According to his friends, he killed himself because he had accidentally shot and killed his best friend DeMarcus Brown two days before and he could not deal with the guilt.
Legacy
On October 5, 2024, Robloxian avatar shops begin selling necklaces inspired by his face.
