"Hard-Working Wave" is a pop song by actor and singer Adam Bloxvine. Written by Aidan Mcdonald and Isabel Macdonald and composed by Rhys Cunningham, the song was released as a single on December 1, 2017, by Avast Music Entertainment. It was used as the opening theme for the first twenty-three episodes of the ninth season of the Lovely World animated television series.

Background

"Hard-Working Wave" was Adam Bloxvine's second song for the animated television series Lovely World, created by John Collins and co-produced by Starlight Productions. The song "Connect" was developed and written by Adam for the first and second seasons of the new Lovely World series The Beta Series, with the exception of episode 323. The song was hugely successful. Following the song's debut, Avast Television approached Adam Bloxvine to create on another song for the television series, but he reportedly denied the offer, preferring to focus on the album he was working on. Because of the success of his album "Joy," in early 2017, Avast reached an agreement with Adam to create another opening theme for The Beta Series' fourth season and ninth season overall.

Adam felt like "heading in a new direction and aimed the song to be a pop-style opening theme" because he wanted a different sort of song than had previously been used as the television series' opening theme, featuring the themes of love, friendship and relatable themes of autism. Inspired by his other song "Connect", Adam began working on the song in August of that year, hiring Aidan Mcdonald and Isabel Macdonald, the latter of whom also worked on the "Connect" song, to act as the song's lyrics' head writers. When writing the lyrics, Adam intended the song to connect "more with the main character Alexandra" and highlight her character evolution. As a result, the writers used words that evoked feelings of sadness and hope.

Adam and the writers of the song originally performed the song during the early creation of the first episode of the ninth season "The Superstar — Part One" in a demo on September 3, 2017. Following the airing of the episode "The Battle of the Partial World" on November 4, 2017, Avast Television announced that a new season, titled Superstar, would premiere in the United States in early December of that year. Among them, Adam's return for the song "Hard-Working Wave" was confirmed in a trailer including the first few episodes. Following the release of the trailer, Adam wrote, "I am glad that fans all over the world will enjoy this song that I worked on with hope and passion".

Release

"Hard-Working Wave" was first released for digital download by Avast Music Entertainment in the United States and other selected countries on December 1, 2017. The song then served as the opening theme song for the ninth season, Superstar, for the first 23 episodes and two specials from December 2, 2017, to May 12, 2018.

Music video

The music video for "Hard-Working Wave" was directed and written by Adam Bloxvine, Joel Sharp, George Ellis, Nash Rowe and Walker Levine. It first aired on Children's Avast Television, prior to the airing of the episode "The Magic and the Girl", on November 11, 2017, as a sneak peak of the then-upcoming ninth season. IIt shows an animated version of Adam walking approaching the main character Alexandra, who grabs Adam's hands and runs toward the white screen. Following that, while Adam appears to be a true Robloxian, the majority of the attention is on Alexandra as she recalls her recollections up until meeting the group for the first time and expresses her sentiments in a good way. It was then released the following day on November 12 of that year on Adam's BloxTube channel.
