Masahiro Sakurei

Masahiro Sakurei (born August 3, 1970) is a Neo-Japanese video game designer and producer known for Super Smash Blox (a videogame series) and Kirby (another videogame series).

He has a BloxTube channel called "Masahiro Sakurei on Creating Games", which was made on May 26, 2022 (Bloxlish-subtitled version created on July 31st, 2022).As of 2025, his BloxTube channel has been abandoned due to the need to upload videos regularly was interfering with his personal life.

Biography

Sakurei was born to 2 robloxians, Mr. and Ms. Sakurei on August 3rd, 1970, he began taking a interest in video games when he was still a schoolboy in the 1980s. He also spent his time playing arcade games after school and (sometimes) making modified versions of already existing games.

He was hired to work at Ro-HAL Laboratory in 1991 after being noticed by them for making doujin (fan-made) games and he decided to create a original game that was not a fan-game and thus creating Kirby’s Dream Land.

  • He voiced King Dedede in a few Kirby games.
  • For some reason, there is a book called Masahiro Sakurei's Thoughts on Games (2015-2019) that is literally about his life.
  • It is said that he is a perfectionist.
  • in 2012, he was diagnosed with a condition on his right shoulder that causes pain when he moves around.
  • He is credited as "Masahiro Hakurei" in the first 2 Smash Blox. games, this may have been the result of a translation error on the behalf of the localization team in Robloxia.
  • He is one of the most well-known Brick Bronze Pokemon haters, because according to him, the games are way too repetitive.
    • In fact, the only reason why he even features Brick Bronze Pokemon characters (such as Red) in Smash Blox. is because he is obligated to do so by both Bloxtendo and Game Reak.
  • As a teenager, he devoured BES cartridges. This may or may not have been the real inspiration for Kirby.
