Sunset Paradise is a 2021 animated web series created by Glitch Productions, an Australian company that is mainly associated with SMG4. The series stars popular SMG4 character and Splatfest champion Meggy Spletzer, who takes a vacation to Port Aurora in order to find out what she wants to do in life. Meanwhile her vacation becomes a disaster as she notices how there is so much crime happening on the island, even her suitcase gets stolen. There she meets Auri Bori, who despite being a little kid is actually sheriff in town after his fathers death. Now Meggy and Auri go on many adventures stopping crime and evil along their way. Meggy herself started out as a character from SMG4 where she was an Inkling in her debut "If Mario was in Splatoon" released in 2017 to coincide with the release of Splatoon 2. After her debut, Meggy proved to be quite popular among the fans and became a main character. By 2019, SMG4 made the anime arc, which did a rather controversal decision to redesign Meggy into a human. By 2020 during the YouTube arc, she also got a new human voice provided by Lizzie Freeman, rather than using Inkling and Octoling voice samples from Splatoon. By late 2020, an animated series was revealed when the Glitch channel was made, and it was to star Meggy. By early 2021, the SMG4 episode "The Pursuit of Life" was made, there Meggy doesn't know what to do with her life after winning Splatfest, at the end she gets tickets to go to Port Aurora on vacation. The short episode "My New Adventure" was then released and showed Meggy leaving the SMG4 gang to her vacation, and then Sunset Paradise was fully revealed. It got 10 episodes before Meggy returned in the episode "She's Back". During each episodes development, Meggy would star in VTuber live streams on the SMG4 channel.
