This sound effect can be found on The Premiere Edition Volume 1, which was made by The Hollywood Edge. This is not to be confused with Sound Ideas, CROWD, PANIC - EXCITED, PANICKY CROWD from the Hanna-Barbera Sound Effects Library which sounds very similar slowly. It was originally a Soundelux sound effect created for Darkwing Duck.

This sound effect was originally created around 1989 at Soundelux with a group of adults yelling, shouting, cheering and laughing with joy.

It has since been commonly used for other multiple crowd sounds and multiple purposes in media, include most commonly when a crowd screams and panics in fear, but it’s still used in some media for crowd's cheering, yelling, shouting, and screaming in joy. It was likely recorded around 1989, and was have possibly first used in Darkwing Duck, a Disney animated TV show in which it debuted with the series on September 7, 1991.

On April 1990, The Hollywood Edge acquired this sound effect and added it to The Premiere Edition Volume 1 library. Then, in 2014, Sound Ideas took over to acquire this sound effect after the bankruptcy of The Hollywood Edge.
