  • In an interview with Nintendo Dream, sound director Naoto Kubo confirmed the sound design was the most difficult aspect of this game's development, reportedly taking years. Not counting the stock sound effects used above, the team had to record a large number of original sound effects, namely for the player's actions of smashing objects. One sound effect involving a watermelon gave the team a headache as it was done at a time when the summer season was concluding, and by the time autumn rolled around, they were out of watermelons to smash, and would not be able to properly record it until the summer in the following year.
