The second season of The Anna Hottenmeyer's Show, created by Wendee Lee and Kira Buckland is known as Anna's 2 Hott! (アンナの2ホット! or An'na no 2 hotto!) in Japanese and The Second Anna Hott's Series (Die zweite Serie von Anna Hott) in Ro-German. The series follows Anna and Susumu, two female protagonists (who are voiced by Heather Walsh and Crimson Ruiz, respectively) as they hang out, enjoy themselves, and embark on excursions around the nation with Matt, John, and Emily, three of their many friends. The season premiered both in the United States of Robloxia and in Canada by the Bloxia Broadcasting Company on RBC, RBS and Avast Television on November 30, 1998 and lasted for 45 episodes, before ending in October 15, 1999. For later broadcasting in other countries, the season premiered in Neo-Japan on Namco TV, Fuji-TV, and NHK on January 10, 1999 to January 2, 2000. In Ro-Russia and Ro-Germany, the season premiered on November 21 and 28, 2001, respectively.
The second season of the show was produced in both Neo-Japan and the United States, unlike the first.
Production
The Anna Hottenmeyer's Show received a second season order from RBC on January 14, 1998, less than a month after the first episode aired, following the first season's popularity led to orders for an additional 40+ episodes, of which 45 were intended to be produced. The show also gained a lot of traction with children in Neo-Japan, where it was the second-most-watched show from December 1997 to January 1998. On March 11, 1998, the show's creators Wendee Lee and Kira Buckland revealed that a second season was in development and slated for premiere in late 1998. Each season's titles were taken from the titles that Neo-Japan used for their Japanese television programs.
Due to its enormous popularity, it was announced in early 1999 that The Anna Hottenmeyer's Show will be produced mostly in Neo-Japan. Despite being an American series, the creators wanted the show to resemble a Japanese animated series, so they changed the characters' appearance and gave the scenery and characters some anime flair. In an interview from 2000, Wendee Lee and Kira Buckland explained that they added the style because they wanted to give the series a more vibrant and animated look while also emphasizing live-action as the series was primarily live-action. To develop the character's color backgrounds and faces for the second season, 100 animators were employed. Wendee Lee and Kira Buckland were worried about how the new art design would be received by viewers during post-production, but to their surprise, both reviewers and viewers praised the design. They had intended to employ the aesthetic for just one season, but after receiving positive feedback, they decided to continue using it until the series' 2021 finale.
