The Tatorian Empire (or East Tatoria) is a monarchist client state located on the western half of a small island in the Bloxian Channel, between Rogaulia and the Bloxia Kingdom.
Founded in 1815 as a direct response to the creation of the Republic of Waterloo by Bonapartist exiles, the Tatorian Empire was established under Bloxian sponsorship and has remained a Bloxian-aligned puppet state ever since. For over two centuries, it has been locked in a continuous and unresolved conflict with its republican rival, a struggle known as the Waterloo Wars.
History
The empire was born in the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars, following the defeat of Napoleon Bloxaparte at the Battle of Waterloo. As Bloxapartist marshals and loyalists fled Rogaulia and declared a sovereign republic on the island's eastern shores, the Bloxian government acted swiftly. Fearing the resurgence of revolutionary ideology so close to its own shores, the BK covertly organized and backed a counter-expedition composed of loyalist officers, colonial veterans, and monarchist sympathizers. With logistical support from the Royal Navy, this force landed on the western half of the island in late 1815.
There, under Bloxian protection, the Tatorian Empire was proclaimed. The first ruler, Governor Loony , was a decorated Bloxian general selected for his loyalty and military record. Though nominally sovereign, the new empire was heavily influenced by Bloxian interests from the start. Its founding documents were reviewed by Bloxian advisors, its early fortifications were constructed using Bloxian engineers, and its military was equipped with surplus Bloxian weaponry. Over time, the empire developed its own institutions, symbols, and cultural identity, but it has never been politically or militarily independent.
The Tatorian Empire was structured to serve as a strategic buffer against the Republic of Waterloo. Its monarchy was largely ceremonial in the early years, with true authority resting in the hands of Bloxian-backed administrators and military commanders. The empire has never broken its dependence on the BK, which continues to provide financial aid, intelligence support, and diplomatic cover.
Economy
Economically, the Tatorian Empire has historically struggled with self-sufficiency, due in part to its heavy militarization and limited access to arable land. Agriculture and quarrying form the backbone of the domestic economy, while trade is closely regulated and conducted almost exclusively through agents and Bloxian shipping routes. The currency is backed unofficially by Bloxian reserves, and the island relies on foreign imports for most industrial and luxury goods.
International relations
The ongoing conflict with the Republic of New Waterloo has defined the empire’s identity. While direct combat has lessened in recent decades, espionage, raids, and propaganda operations continue. Generations of Tatorians have grown up as soldiers even if they never wanted to. At age 10, citizens are enlisted to the army, making the Tatorian Empire look like Spartablox.
In international terms, the Tatorian Empire remains an unrecognized entity, sustained politically and militarily by the BK. Its status as a Bloxian puppet has long been a source of controversy, drawing criticism from humanitarian observers and democratic states. Yet despite its diplomatic isolation, the empire endures—shielded by Bloxians, fueled by ideology, and bound to a centuries-old mission to preserve monarchy and suppress revolution.
