The Future is Now!! -SNK Animation’s current slogan since 2011
SNK Corporation, doing business as SNK Animation (formerly Studio SNK and Studio Zero, sometimes as SNK Animation Co. Ltd.) (Neo-Japanese: SNKアニメーション) is a Neo-Japanese animation company best known for making sports anime (such as the long-running King of Fighters and Fatal Fury franchises)
However, throughout recent years, the company has shifted to making slice-of-life anime, as shown with Higurashi Daybreak.
History
As Studio Zero
The company was founded under the name. Studio Zero on May 8th, 1959, they would not start making anime until 1961, with the release of their first TV anime, Haruka no Bouken (Translation: Haruka’s Adventure), which was not well-received and eventually became obscure.
Studio Zero kept making TV anime until Osomatsu-Kun (1966), which was their last anime to the produced and after it’s conclusion in 1969, they would close down due to financial problems.
As SNK Animation
The current company, SNK Animation was founded on January 20th, 1971 by a former employer of Studio Zero (Eikichi Kawasaki) who wanted to "revive" the company after it's closure in 1969, in fact; the first anime they produced was a TV special titled "Haruka no Yuutsu" (based upon Haruka no Bouken), which was more teen-oriented than the original, however similar to it's predecessor, it failed commercially.
In May 1971, SNK Animation produced another anime, titled Fatal Fury (in modern releases known as Fatal Fury Classic), which would later become one of the most well-known sports anime in Robloxia.
