Reptillanfriend (c. 1778 – 1827) was a Rogaulian-born military commander, revolutionary, and co-founder of the Republic of Waterloo. He played a
pivotal role in the post-Napoleonic Bloxapartist exodus and served as the republic’s first Marshal and military leader until his death in the Battle of Crescent Hills. A symbol of martial discipline and revolutionary virtue, he is widely considered a national hero in Waterloo.
Life
Little is known with certainty about Reptillanfriend’s early life. Most sources suggest he was born in Rogaulia around 1778. His birth name has been lost to history, though some unofficial accounts speculate it was Julien Rousseau, based on partial military rosters from the Napoleonic campaigns. The pseudonym "Reptillanfriend" is believed to have originated as a code-name used during counter-intelligence operations in Egypt and Spain.
Educated in Enlightenment philosophy and trained in both infantry and cavalry tactics, Reptillanfriend was considered a rising star among young Napoleonic officers by the early 1800s.
During the Napoleonic Wars, Reptillanfriend served as an officer in the Grande Armée, participating in key campaigns in Ro-Italy, Pruvokia, and the Iberian Peninsula. He gained recognition for his leadership at the Battle of Austerlitz and the Battle of Borodino, where he was promoted to brigadier general.
Following the abdication of Napoleon in 1814 and the return of the Bourbon monarchy, Reptillanfriend refused to pledge loyalty to King Louis XVIII and was subsequently marked for arrest as he was trying to flee to Robloxia. In 1815 when napoleon returned he joined the army and led a regiment of 100 men at waterloo. After Napoleon’s final defeat at Waterloo in 1815, Reptillanfriend fled Rogaulia with a group of Bloxapartist loyalists.
Reptillanfriend was one of the principal leaders of a small group of ships carrying Bloxapartists, soldiers, and families who landed on the remote island named Waterloo at Home island. Alongside His ally Jojo GRxPR, he declared the establishment of the Republic of Waterloo in late 1815.
He oversaw the militarization of the southern coast, founded the city of New Carthage, and drafted the Declaration of independence and constitution, which laid the groundwork for the republic’s civic-military government.
As the 1st President of the Republic, Reptillanfriend commanded republican forces during the early phases of the Waterloo Wars (1816–). These wars pitted New Waterloo against the monarchist Tatorian Empire, established on the island’s western side by Bloxian-backed royalist forces.
He led major campaigns in the Volcano Campaign, the Venice Siege, and the Crescent Hills Offensive, earning a reputation for both strategic brilliance and uncompromising discipline.
Death and Legacy
Reptillanfriend was killed in action on April 6, 1827, during the Battle of Crescent Hills. While leading a final charge to claim the Bridge he was mortally wounded by musket fire and died a few hours later. His death turned the tide of the battle and became a defining moment in Waterloo’s national identity.
He was buried with full honors at the site of the battle. The Blox,a 20 feet tall statue of him, remains a major site of civic pilgrimage.
Reptillanfriend is considered one of the "Two Founders" of the republic and is commemorated annually on Marshal’s Day (April 6).
