Pukapuka is one of the largest islands in Telamon Islands. It consists of 3 provinces: North Pukapuka, West Pukapuka and South Pukapuka. The main roads on island are W23, A1, and A2 (all of Pukapuka provinces have the same road numbering system).

Pukapuka Island was annexed by Telamon Islands alongside with the rest of archipelago as a result of Telamonian War of Independence. The island's main highway, W23, was built in the 1980s as a part of Wikiala highway system and opened in 1989.
