Phyllium Air was an airline that was based in Ro Manila, Ro Philippines. It had a fleet of 27 aircraft. The airline was founded on August 19, 1997 by PSX Phillip Group. The carrier stopped operating in 2021 due to losses generated by the Phyllium Air Flight 10 crash.
History
2002-2007
The airline commenced operations on December 1, 2002 with the first flight as 7H Flight 1 from Ro Manila, Ro-Philippines to Nawabshah, Pakistan with a Boeing 767-200. The airline grew in success later on in the decade.
2008-2009
The airline started flights to Massagaf and Dahanani. The flights were used with a Boeing 737-300 via a stopover at Kohola. This was mainly because Phyllium’s wide-bodies were more on Asian and Domestic flights. The airline also had its first incident at Nawabshah Airport when a Boeing 767 registered as RP-C4788 had a belly landing there.
2010-2014
The airline had its first fatal-crash in March 2010, Phyllium Air Flight 10. The aircraft crashed at Massagaf. This was the turning point for the airline. The airline had about 12 aircraft at the time of the incident. Soon, the airline’s decline started, and another fatal crash occured in 2012, this time at Davao City, Phyllium Air Flight 9920.
2016-2019
The airline ended Nawabshah and Massagaf flights in 2017 due to losses in the routes. By then, Phyllium Air had phased out most of their Boeing 767 and 737s for Airbus A330 and A310s. The airline also took delivery of Airbus A320s and ATR-72s.
2020-2021
In 2020, Phyllium Air filed for bankruptcy, but still continued to operate. In November 20, 2021, the airline ceased operations, with the last flight being PHL513 from Davao City to Ro Manila.
