Noob Airlines 967 was a scheduled flight from Noobwood International Airport to Perth International Airport in June 8th, 2010, that ended up banking towards Noobwood's eastern coast and exploding on impact, killing all 243 occupants and 90 in the ground. The aircraft was a R340-500, registered NO-OB653, which was delivered to Noob Airlines in 2006. The result of the crash would ultimately force Noob Airlines to enter bankruptcy, go under restructuration, and eventually retire the R340-500s in their fleet before 2011.

Incident

Noob Airlines 967 was scheduled to fly out of Terminal 2 by 1:43 AM at June 8th of 2010, Terminal 2 is the main terminal for Noob Airlines for domestic routes and some international routes, like Perth. The aircraft known was NO-OB653, NO-OB653 was known to have technical issues mainly with displaying speed, there were several incidents in the past 4 years of the aircraft's service, the most significant event was when a flight from Noobwood to Ro Apia. While cruising, the plane reduced the speed from 480 Knots to 183 Knots, causing the plane to significantly decrease in altitude. By 10 minutes the issue was resolved and the plane returned back to Noobwood safely. The plane was later grounded for maintenance and investigation. By 1 year and 4 months, the plane returned back to service.

By 1:56 PM, 237 passengers were inside of the aircraft, which were followed by 12 flight attendants and 3 flight crew, in total 243 occupants. By 2:00 AM, 4 minutes after boarding and 17 minutes after the scheduled departure, the aircraft was pushed back, and taxiied towards a runway by 2:13 AM. The runway was pointing towards a small town, and was over water, while on takeoff or in landing, the small town could be visible. The plane had an uneventful takeoff by 2:14 AM, and was flying over the Noob River, and took a u-turn to climb. However, while turning, the plane dropped in speed, forcing the plane to drop in altitude. While doing so, the plane recovered from the issue, and the flight crew had then decided to return back to Noobwood. While approaching, the plane circled around the Noob River to drop fuel, and approached Noobwood International Airport, by the time the aircraft was circling Noobwood International Airport at 2:35 AM, the plane suddenly lost even more speed and encountered a stall. The loss of speed was so fast that it forced the flight crew to dive to gain more speed and to recover from the stall, however, the diving was unrecoverable, and the plane sped up towards the town.

By 2:36 AM, Noob Airlines 967 slammed into the town and caused a huge explosion, all of the occupants on board died on impact. The explosion was very large that a portion of the town was eradicated by the explosion. The town was relatively quiet during the early morning, so most of the residents were sleeping during the impact. 90 people died from the crash, 76 of them died on impact with the explosion, and 14 people died of injuries in the ground and 98 people were injured because the crash.

Aftermath

At the morning of June 8th, 2010, the president of the Noob Republic announced a day of mourning due to the crash. The town had been damaged significantly, and the town was barred off limits for visiting.

Noob Airlines faced a large drop of revenue and a loss of passengers, causing the airline to restructure entirely. The drop of revenue would cause the airline to have negative profits until 2019. The Robus R340-500s were phased out due to the tarnished reputation of the aircraft type as a whole. The last Robus R340-500 to exit the fleet of Noob Airlines had been withdrawn from use in January 2, 2011.
