Kingdom of Satsoofma (Hitsui: སྃཙུཧྭམྃ ཨོཀོཀུ), also called Kingdom of Eiji (ཨེཡཇི ཨོཀོཀུ) was a historical country located on Nyubishima island, existing from 649 to 856. It was ruled by the Eiji clan, founded by discoverer of the island, Eiji Yetsoofmoto.

History

Although later chronicles consider Eiji Yetsoofmoto to be the first king, the founding of Kanteoof is now considered to be the beginning of the kingdom, and either his nephew Eiji Yorihide or his grandnephew Eiji Himoto are considered to be the first king.

In 683, the kingdom secured its position in the region by capturing the colony of Teglu and forcing the inhabitants of Advent Island to pay tribute. Satsoofma soon became independent from Chairoshima, which it then tried to conquer with expeditions in 717, 722, 754, and 757. The last of these expeditions ended in success, when the king of Chairoshima, Fusaoofji, had to pay tribute and ransom to the Eiji clan and its leader Eiji Noobumoto for the captured warriors.

Satsoofma fell in 856 after the last male member of Eiji clan, Eiji Kagemoto, commited seppuku to avoid being captured by the rebelling peasants. Members of the Ttago clan forced Confederation of Eastern Islands act, which united Chairoshima and Satsoofma kingdoms as the Kingdom of Eastern Islands, which existed until 1200s.
