A average episode of this series in a nutshell
Keiichi or Rena cause some sort of trouble (sometimes, the trouble is extreme, like in one episode where Keiichi, Satoko and Rena teamed up and basically sent everyone and everything to space, which made them angry). The other characters can be angry at times: Keiichi (or Rena, AGAIN) try to fix the problem they caused. The other characters, usually either Mion or Rika, forgive Keiichi (or Rena), only to cause trouble again in the next episode.
Sometimes, like the Christmas special, the main characters either go on a long adventure or they just celebrate the holiday.
Rating
it is rated TV-Y7 by Avast Television, however some episodes are rated TV-Y due to their educational value.
Website
It has two websites, one is called "Higurashi.co.njp" (the Neo-Japanese website for it) and "Avast-television.com/Daybreak". Both of these websites are similar in style, as they have minigames, facts about the characters, and free minisodes. The websites are owned by TV Asahi and Bang! Zoom Entertainment respectively.
