Fort Wrastior is a metro station on CenterConnect Rail Line 1. It is located at-grade under the Macan Boulevard viaduct. The station is named because of its proximity to the Fort Wrastior Air Force Training Base, and the Fort Wrastior Civilian Area complex. The station like the rest of the original six station segment of line 1 was inaugurated on December 16, 1978. It consists of one island platform and two former side platforms that have been since fenced off, although they are used from time to time to handoff trash from the station onto maintenance trains via a gate. The station has one accessible fare mezzanine but the actual platforms are not accessible. A skylight in the ceiling allows light onto the station.

Location and area

Despite the name, the station is not near Fort Wrastior, rather, it is in the Waterview neighborhood, about 7 miles away from the base entrance. Bus route 59 provides access to the base every six minutes during the day and every 10 minutes at night. It is at 200 East Macan Boulevard.

The platforms

The station has a single fare mezzanine located at According to a document released by CenterConnect in 2014, “Fort Wrastior and Waterview stations are often inaccurately described as being ‘underground’, when both of them have one thing in common: a fare mezzanine built over the trench giving passengers the impression that they’re underground, but this is much less so with Fort Wrastior Station… the skylights in the ceiling allow broad daylight to seep into the station, so technically we consider both stations to be at grade because they were not constructed by tunneling methods.”. As mentioned earlier, the station has one island platform, but prior to October 19, 2007, two side platforms were also used for boarding as well. However, they were closed off and are now closed off to any passenger access. Those closed platforms are used on occasion for loading trash onto maintenance trains, and for special loading of important people from Fort Wrastior, such as in 2024 and 2025.
