The Centria Mass Transit District is a mass transit agency serving the city of Centria, Centell Province , Halson. It operates buses, trains and paratransit. As of February 2025, it has 118 bus routes, 4 rail lines, and is contracted by the Halonic Mobility Council to provide operators for HMCRegional commuter rail.
History
The CMTD was created by the HMC to take over the private bus companies operating around the Centria area. This resulted in the creation of the special district, in 1968. As soon as that happened, a proposal for a subway system was created and called for six lines radiating from downtown into the close suburbs. It was narrowed down to four in 1971, and construction begun on Line 1 in 1975, on a five stop, completely above ground section from Stantien Terminal to CityGate North. With the success of the first section of rail, a large budget was designated to expand transit in the area.
