Stand by Me: Doraemon is a series of light novels written by Nagaru Tanigawa and illustrated by Michiaki Tanaka that started in 2011 and ended in 2019. It is based upon the Doraemon franchise by Fujiko F. Fujio and it is a licensed adaptation.

These light novels were adapted between 2013 and 2019 as CGI OVAs (which in Robloxia, were dubbed between August 8, 2014 and late 2020).

Premise

it is about the everyday life of Nobita Nobi (Noby Nobi in Robloxia), a fourth grader with severe melancholy who one day, meets a robot cat from the 22nd century named “Doraemon”, whom was sent by Nobita's future great-grandson, Sewashi Nobi.

Trivia

  • This light novel series is considered to be the most depressing piece of Doraemon media, mainly because it tackles topics like bullying in a realistic way.
  • One of the OVA adaptations aired on Avast Television as a dubbed version in 2019, where it was given the TV-14 (the second and third OVA were both rated TV-PG) rating.
    • However, it did air on Children's Avast Television in 2017, where it had the TV-PG rating. This may have been a mistake of sorts because Alexander Tyler thought it was family friendly due to it being associated with the Doraemon franchise, which is mostly family friendly. Another reason why it was rated TV-14 is because of the subject matter and it accurately depicted a depressed character. Other than that, there is not that much inappropriate things in the 3 OVAS besides the last scene, which is extremely bloody and violent.
  • Luk Internacional licensed the first 2 OVAs in early 2016.
  • The light novel ironically is a comedy despite all the disturbing stuff featured in it.
  • The OVAs (the 3rd one in particular) and the light novels have a good ending, as Nobita and Shizuka get married and have a child named "Nobisuke Jr.".
