Osomatsu-Kun, better known as Osomatsu-Kun 1966 in modern releases (mainly to not confuse Robloxians with the 1988 version of the anime) is a 1966 Neo-Japanese anime series by Studio Zero (a precursor of the modern SNK Animation company), it was based off a manga of the same name and the first adaptation of Osomatsu-Kun.

Osomatsu-kun (1966) Episode 01

A video appearing to show an episode.

It was the first anime to air on Children's Avast Television (since it was aired there in late 1969) and the second anime overall to air in Robloxia.

Premise

it is about the lives of six brothers/sextuplets (with the titular protagonist, Osomatsu being part of them) who basically cause some sort of trouble in each episode.

Fun Facts

  • This is the first Osomatsu-Kun adaptation as it was made 22 years before the 1988 adaptation by Studio Ro-Pierrot.
  • It was considered lost media for 48 years until it was released on DVD in 2015 to celebrate Fujio Akatsuka’s 80th Anniversary
  • A dub for it was made in 1973 for Children's Avast Television; it was popular enough that in 2016, this dub was re-aired for the last time.
  • The current copyright holder for this series (in Neo-Japan) is Studio Ro-Pierrot.
  • This series has two remakes, the 1988 series, and the current series known as “Osomatsu-san”, which first aired in 2015.
  • It aired for three years between 1966 and 1969.
  • The series has a similar art-style as Doraemon. This usually led to Robloxians to think that it was made by Fujiko Fujio, when actually, it was made by a completely different author.
    • Speaking of Doraemon, it is said that Fujiko Fujio was inspired by this series (the manga in particular) to create Nobita’s design. It is unknown if it is true.
  • In both this version and the 1988 version, you can't really tell which Matsuno brother is who, probably because the animators (in the 1966 version ONLY) basically copy-and-pasted (before that was even invented) Osomatsu's design 5 times in the ending theme.
